  • Often regarded as the capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester was once the second largest town in Britain during Roman times. It's name back then was Corinium Dobunnorum and today makes for essential visiting to any Cotswold traveller.
The history of the Gloucestershire town spans several centuries, reflected by the dozens of interesting buildings nestled in the centre.

I had the pleasure of working in the Fleece for a summer in the early 90's which afforded me the opportunity to explore the town and the surrounding area.
    Many happy memories.

My husband and I first visited from the U.S. in 2006 and loved the town. We were lucky enough to visit again earlier this year, about a week before the lockdowns began, with a group of our students. The Corinium Museum was fantastic for our U.S. students studying history in the U.K.

These videos are so good that I wish they were longer and perhaps talked in more detail about the buildings and surrounding villages.

I agree. I wish all of these videos were longer, although I know that the additional time and logistics associated with production, editing, etc., would be significant.

As I have commented in another episode, I do like that dissolve from the Church picture in the book to the foggy video of the real Church. To get the angle and scale done, must have been a bit of fun and delight when it turned out like that. Hope others have noticed it.
