- It looks like my PS4's hard drive is going to silicone heaven.
My PS4 refuses to boot up, giving me the error message CE-34335-8.
You can learn more about the safe mode available in the PS4 at www.playstatio...
I reommend trying this option before looking at wiping the hard drive using an enclosure or replacing the hard drive.
Be sure to watch my follow up video at • Replacing the Sony PS4... where I replace the hard drive and reinstall the PS4's system software
Good luck.

Just had this happen to my ps4. Im just wondering will i still be able to get my saved games back even if my playstation plus ran out just a few days ago before this happened or am i screwed
You do need PS Plus to store data, but I believe it's free to download the data as my membership expired and it let me restore.
Sony aren't too clear about it though.

@@aks19880 did u have to re download everything?
@@enetti7214 yeah since it's a fresh new harddrive you will have to reinstall the system software and then log into your PS account to get access to any game that you have purchased digitally and re-download them. However, you can back up your save files on a USB drive (make sure the USB is a FAT32 format) or on the PSPlus cloud
Akshat K is there any other way I can back up my old hard drive with a computer and load it up on the new one? My PS4 kind dead rn because need a need hard drive to come in

Hope it improved performance 👍
Did it work?
Did it work?
How's you ps4 now?
Yea i got a new hdd.. it works well
Basically if you get this error, the hard drive went kaput (a bad sector in the hard drive) and is no longer able to function properly....at least that is what I have experienced. Too bad gaming consoles can't have a RAID configuration setup, then if a hard drive experienced a bad sector and fails, there would be an equal drive ready to go but there would need to be a notification that said hard drive had failed and needed to be replaced before the other does the same thing. In the long run, it would make more techs have experience with RAID systems.
3 years seems pretty short life span for a drive. Especially being in a console since it doesn't have the same power up/down cycles compared to a pc. I tend to backup my saves regularly for situations like this. Hope you can get a replacement drive.
Yeah it's not ideal. Thankfully it does have a five year warranty, which I'm glad of as many other drives only have two or three year warranties.
Fingers crossed the RMA won't take long.
I had the same HDD as him but mine took 1 year, 5 months, and 28 days to die after I bought it on Nov 26, 2018. It died yesterday...
Damn that sucks. Not even 18 months. Be sure to send it back.
@@kevs-gaming yep, not even 18 months. I bought on Amazon. I didnt see anything on Amazon to send it back. Im guessing its warranty was over after the 1st year.
It is common for hard drives to have a warranty of three years. My hard drive was five years.
Check the serial number on the manufacturer website. You may be able to send it back.

Hello Kevin, this happened to my less than 2 year old PS4 Slim back in March. I replaced it with a Western Digital HDD 2 TB in April and it worked just fine.
Recently though, I've had the CE 34878-8 error with Remedy Entertainment's Control (which is crazy with framerate drops), RUclips, and Watch Dogs 1
With the failed Toshiba HDD, signs of failure were in almost every game I played. Death Stranding music would cut out and Sam would move like in slow motion, Injustice 2 characters wouldnt speak (lips would move) and music would cut out, DoA5 character photos wouldnt show up in the select screen, you get the picture.
Im not having any of that now except some minor instances of no music in CoD MW and Watch Dogs 1 which seem fine other than that (minus the one WDogs error). Was having WiFi issues recently and maybe thats the culprit, but does it sound like this WD HDD is going bad too, or just Ps4 glitches as usual?
Thanks in advance!
Mechanical hard drives in general are more prone to failure so it could definitely be the drive.
In hindsight, I should have opted for an SSD myself, however when I purchased my drive, the cost of SSDs was extremely high.
@@kevs-gaming thanks much for the response, am hoping that isnt the case since Im not eager to shell out my own cash again...
But did notice that these game/app crashes only happen when I dont realize there is a system update pending. Once downloaded, the issues stop. (Even though I have automatic updates on, I still end up having to do it myself)
Be careful of hibernation. The PS4 will continue to download games when it's hibernating and it's easy to miss the fact it's not completely off. If it's shut down when hibernating, the operating system can be easily corrupted.

Everyone that is experiencing the issue: The problem is your HDD drive. I recommend purchasing a new drive that goes in to the back of your ps4. Then use a USB stick to reinstall the system software. The update fried your ps4 and there's nothing you can do about it unless you're able to rebuild storage discs.
Anyone know if I can take my old ps4 slim HDD and swap it or should I just buy a new one? The same thing happened to me and it's God damn annoying that sony is good for updates that ruin your system lol
@@tjcool5541 If the HDD is compatible via SATA and the same size, I don't see why not. Just use a USB drive to reinstall the ps4 system.

thanks for this video. i bought a ps4 for my daughter for xmas 2019 so it is less than 6 months old. it automatically went to safe mode. i followed the instructions,(flash drive pup) thing to the letter.... it took a half day and now getting that error. Sorry to bear that Aimee.
According to Sony, that error appears when the hard drive is not connected properly.
www.playstation.com/en-za/get-help/help-library/error-codes/ce-34335-8/
I would open it up and check that it's connected correctly.
The process of opening it up is slightly different for each PS4 model. There are guides on the Sony website that walk you through how to open it up and check etc.
Hey Kev, mine always corrupts the save data of my games. Almost everyday I always got the same corrupted data message (that CE message) and my ps4 will be directed to the safe mode and asks me to download the update. Do you think I need to change my hard drive or is it a hardware problem that needed to be fixed by a technician?
There could be some sectors that are corrupted. When you boot into safe mode, have you tried rebuilding the database?
It's one of the options Sony suggests at ruclips.net/video/EPQSfSK4jGQ/видео.html
@@kevs-gaming hey, thanks for the reply. Yes, I already tried booting it and rebuilding the database. I've done it for many times and getting the same result.
A complete reinstallation could work. I realise it's a pain having to do that, but you're still in a position to back everything up before you do it in order to minimise the process.
If that didn't work, my guess is the drive needs replaced.
Literally about to drop the kids ps4 to the shop and I thought, I'll just search one more clip to see if I can fix it myself! Now I'm gonna buy just the ssd. Thanks mate for confirming my assumption all along!
Best of luck.
My hard drive was returned last week, but I've not had the time to replace it yet.
I'll hopefully be able to do it this weekend.
Mine started taking 15 minutes to start mhw. 15 min to load into a game. Was getting horrible lag. Turned the game off the main menu kept freezing. I could do nothing, every move I made anywhere took 10/15 min. Did rebuild database. When it went to restart it just flashed blue then a solid white. Then back blue. Took my HDD out and it was too hot to even hold. Put it back in and the system won't even start unless it's safe mode. And whatever I choose in safe mode when it goes to restart it just flashed blue or an error message. I ordered a new HDD I hope this fixes it.

Games you bought or previously downloaded will be available in ur library
Games, DLCs,.. you bought in the PS store are all bound to your PS account, so as long as you know the login details for that account, you can re-download all of the games on the new HDD.
This was more helpful than the vid thanks
I've had this problem when I was playing GoT and crashed . Cutscenes in that game sometimes freezes and sometimes there is no audio. So I tried rebuilding database to see if it helps. IT DIDNT. It makes my ps4 pro slower. Tried everything including initializing ps4. still the same problem. Still seeing the "Error in system software" message every now and then.
Do you think I need to replace the hdd?
Im using PS4 Pro with 7.51 software version. my other friends are also having this issue since the 7.51 update :(
Possibly. There's a lot of errors that can arise. Some may be because of miscellaneous issues such as overheating, but I suspect most are related to software corruption and hard drive failure.
I would try safe mode first and see if you can resolve the issue that way before replacing the drive.
I had the same issue today my game was freezing and menus as well could even close the PlayStation normally and I tried the rebuilding as well so I decided to clean my ps4 opened the lid of my ps4 slim and cleaned the lid and blew some air from my mouth in the fan and yeah i unplugged all the cables and yeah I played apex legends for like 2-4 hrs today no issues :)
I had a problem where my Ps4 froze and it didn't want to initialize or reset to factory settings, I couldn't do a thing basically, I chose to get me a Seagate 2tb external harddrive cause I didn't want to open up my ps4 as I was afraid to break it so I chose to go with the external hard drive as making this my main drive would theoretically have to solve the problem. This worked for 5 days until my ps4 froze again and I was (again) unable to factory reset it or to initialize it, had no other option than to crack the plastic from the external hd and to replace my 500gb harddrive with my seagate 2tb harddrive, luckily for me it worked and my Ps4 is way faster now. Owned every Playstation console and a Xbox 360 through my life but damn the Ps4 is a pain in the ass
Anyone with a this kind of situation and you play mortal kombat x, definitely back up your data for it. It's not associated with online storage.
My old hdd gave out while u was level 72 on mkx, being my favorite game, I was devastated.

You're welcome Diego.
Mine only beeps once to boot into safe mode so don't be worried it doesn't beep twice
This happened to my ps4 pro. First when it happened I put it in safe mode, I rebuilt the data base and it helped but some games weren’t playable because of corrupted data. Reinstalling the game helped but then after a few hours it was corrupted again. So then after a while of the game apps being corrupted the ps4 couldn’t turn on because of the hard drive not being readable(again). Rebuilding/restarting the ps4 did not work no more.
I am trying to sell it the way it is and people are saying replacing the hard drive would do the trick.
Same thing happened to me. Going to buy a new hard drive this week. Wish me luck!

I came across this video after purchasing Samsung ssd 870 evo, an external hard drive and a 1gb thumb. I want to recover my kids profile with the hard drive. All in all, $300. HDD is certainly dead as I've rebooted ps4 multiple times. I think ot gets damaged with heat issues. Clean your ps4 regularly and dust where you place it (which should be in an open area so as not to insulate heat).
Modernwarfare seems to be a little too intensive for ps4's that aren't the pro. 4 of my friends all have failing harddrives since playing the game. All have either the original ps4 or a fairly used slim.
Agreed. It just can't handle it. It's jerky, the graphics aren't great and it just isn't a pleasant way to play that game.
So my ps4 won't go into safe mode
So I would have to change my hard drive right? And if I do that I'll lose all my storage and memory and moments I had with my friends I saved?
Unfortunately, if you're not able to get into safe mode, it's likely that the drive needs to be replaced.
If you pay for PlayStation online, all of your save points can be restored.
@@kevs-gaming Nah it's fixed now I took it to games our us and they fixed it

Do you use your hdd correctly? Discontinuing an update will corrupt your hdd. Dropping it, moisture, loud noise, and heat will shorten a hdds lifespan. Using it alot will too. It's like a rubber tire. Keep your room sort of cold, and not warm. Clean ps4.

Which internal ssd do u recommend? I saw the crucial BX500 on Amazon and was wondering if it’s good or not
I'd perhaps go for a Western Digital, SanDisk or Samsung PCIE3 based M2 SATA SSD. You wouldn't benefit from using a more expensive and faster NVME drives. SATA based SSDs are more than enough.
Forgot to add, the crucial drives are good and have a good warranty too.

Hey I think mine is broken/corrupted as well, because it keeps making me re initialize and reinstall the software does it mean my HD is Broken? Also I read that it seems to happen quit frequently to other so I wanna buy and ssd.
It could be. The only way to be 100% sure would be to hook it up to a computer and perform a scan for bad sectors (via an enclosure). It could just be a corrupt installation too.
This also happened to me, I connected my PS4 into an old power brick and was making some weird electrical noises and it fried my hdd. Sadly I don't think the saved videos and all my games and saved data will be recoverable 😢
I've had a lot of work on, but I'm hoping to replace mine over the next few days. Hopefully I can recover saved games.

how did you do a error check on the hard drive and what cable did you use to connect it to you pc
Best way to analyse a hard drive is to connect to a PC using an enclosure and then use software to scan its health.

Have a ps4 (1115A) which fell on the floor what was given to us for repair. Power source shot, so replaced, system boots up into with the the error ce-34335-8, WILL NOT GO INTO SAFE MODE.
tried another hard drive, same error, WILL NOT GO INTO SAFE MODE.
tried with no hard drive, same error.
Tested both drives like you did, drives bring back no errors on PC, would there be something internal broken that reads the hard drive? ??
I think it took a good fall
If both drives are reading fine when connected to your PC and don't have any bad sectors or bad health, then it sounds like the drives are ok. So it could be something else. Without opening it all up and examining it all, it's hard to say.
Kev's Gaming Channel I opened it up and all looks fine, And actually use the innards and other parts are in it to rebuild a perfectly working PS4… So I used the other casing and fan and just drive etc. to rebuild this one again to see if something was off line maybe… But I’m still getting the same problems… I’m thinking maybe after the fall the CPU maybe a shot it out… Sometimes I get a flashing blue light only and it shuts off, sometimes it goes right to the white light and gives me the error code
The CPU is not in aposition to just fall out as it's connected with pins and has a heatsink over it.
According to Sony at www.playstation.com/en-us/support/error-codes/ps4/ce-34335-8/ , the error you have states that no hard drive is connected. So perhaps the data cable has been disconnected or the data cable is damaged in some way.
I have a question. Is it possible to take a hard drive out of external hard drive case and install it into PS4 and if so how do you do it? O have an external 4T from Seagate and my PS4 keeps giving me the same message not booting. Please let me know your thoughts. If I can take my external apart and install it into PS4 I rather do that since all my games are saved onto the external hard drive.
Yes you can. Any 2.5" hard drive should work. You just need to secure it to the PS4's caddy and slot it in and then install the OS.
Hello Kev, i tried initializing my ps4 and it worked but the day after it goes back into the safe mode loop, i figured out it was my hard drive as it kept saying that i could not continue to play games because the saved data was corrupted. My only question is: if i install the latest software update (7.51 as of now) will it corrupt my new HDD since 7.50 corrupted my current one?
Thank you for the video btw!
It shouldn't. I don't think it was the firmware that caused the issue though. Well, I don't think it was.
I reckon it will work if you reinstall everything again.
Recently when I try to play apex, a blue screen appears that says corrupted data. I tried restarting my ps4, rebuilding the data base, and I even initialized it and yet nothing worked. Do you think this might have to do with my hard drive and do you think I should change it?
Yeah it could be the hard drive. It appears to be the most common issue for PS4 failures.
My PS4 doesn’t even give me an error when I try to boot it up, only a black screen. I’m worried my hard drive is corrupted ☹️
You should try reinstalling the operating system.
Do you need that internal hard drive or can you have a Terabyte storage instead that you plug into the usb
You will still need an internal drive for the operating system.
So can I just buy a new hard drive then my PS 4 will be normal?
Replacing the drive should resolve the issue. I wouldn't recommend buying a new drive until you're sure it's a hardware issue and not just a software issue.
Why is my ps4 still broken after initilazing 15 times and after replacing disk drive and hard drive with a sdd, At one point it made my friend's ps5 crash at the same time with a similar error I got on my ps4
My warzone game won't connect to online service I've tried everything from rebooting system , restoring license nothing works do you think I need a new hard drive???
Without knowing the exact problem, it's hard to say, but I recommend safe mode before spending money on a hard drive.
I have this same issue, when I hold the power button my ps4 pro just turns back off; doesn't go into safe mode.
I have ps+, do I still have to recover all of my data?
So I should upgrade to ssd instead of replacing the hard drive?
This place said they'd charge me $150 for a new hard drive plus labor.
Hard drives are like $60 and if it's easy I'll do it myself, feeling like $150 is a bit steep.
Yeah $150 is a rip off. If you have a Phillips screwdriver, you can replace the drive yourself easily.
An SSD would be a good upgrade considering prices are lower than they were years ago.
hi, my PS4 was telling me the database was corrupted for 2 days, and i woke up to it being in the safe mode this morning, its teling me it can not initialise (CE-34697-9). do you know if this solution applies to my case? if so, where can i buy a proper hdd for reasonable price?
Every time I put my ps4 into rest mode it makes a weird sound and the orange light will keep flashing and then turn off I don't understand what's happening
@Jakob Nance it’s a rest mode bug, you have to unplug the power cable and put it back in
@@nightwolf9375 I did that it still does it now it says cannot access system storage when I turn it on so I am wondering if it's a hardrive and a power supply problem

Is Seagate hdd any good ? I have no idea since my PS4 is on safe mode loop I tried every option I even did a full format to the old hdd
They're a huge brand.
As far as quality goes, it depends on the model of the hard drive, but if you get a drive with a good warranty, you'll be ok.
Hey it’s me again, hey so when I go to download games on my ps4 out just shuts off and reboots it’s self, I think it’s because of the old problem of me unplugging it when it was on, is this a hard drive issue? If so do I need to replace it cuz I can’t download games without it just turning off
Unplugging the PS4 when it's in hibernation can cause problems. For example, it could corrupt the operating system.
You can try booting in safe mode and seeing if you can resolve it there.
@@kevs-gaming I’ve tried that and nothing seems to have worked, just every time I go to download a game that is a big size it just shuts off and reboots its self, do I have to replace something?

Hey man, so i was playing warzone on my ps4 pro , where i noticed it couldn't load the textures properly, like it was a ps1 game, and the ps itself became slow and laggy and i couldn't play some games, when i try to play them a message pops out and says " the data base is corrupted, the ps4 will restart, (ce-34054-6)", i went to safe mode and tried rebuilding data base, didn't work, tried initialising ps4, it took 2 hours and just when it almost done a message popped out and said "cannot initialise (ce-33563-0)" , is it my hard drive failing?, i suspect either power surge that occurred about one week before this event or either because of the latest update 8.00.
The PS4 seems to struggle with Call or Duty and Warzone. I would have thought the PS4 Pro would have handled it better though.
It does sound like you've experienced a surge or something else that has damaged the drive.
I don't think the PS4 has any tool for scanning the drive. What I did was put my drive into an enclosure and connect to Windows and checked for bad sectors.
@@kevs-gaming yes i think the hard drive is going out, although i have been playing warzone for months but the last two weeks it started acting funny and couldn't load textures properly until it died
I noticed that too. I increased my graphical settings, then my friend on Xbox said everyone was experiencing it.

That's awesome Rami. Glad you got it sorted.
There comes a sound of my hardrive place that sounds like putting your power cable in your ps4 and then hear a sound of electricity. I hear that rapidly. Also the game stops and closes when that happens. I tried everything
That does sound like a hard drive issue. Have you booted into safe mode to do a scan?
@@kevs-gaming from 1 to 7 everytging
The electricity sound could be something else. I'm not sure.
Ideally, you would have a spare hard drive to swap in and see if that fixes the issue.
Hi. I have got a PS4. I have a question. You see I bought my PS4 3 years ago. I installed a game called call of duty ww2 and when I started the game it worked fine. But then a few months later my PS4 crashed. The screen on my tv was glitching and freezing. It said an error has occurred. I have tried everything to fix it but nothing works!!!!!! Please please tell me how to fix this dumb problem. I don’t want to have to buy a replacement PS4. Give me an answer as soon as possible. Thanks
Boot in safe mode and run some scans to see what problems there are.
Same Seagate HDD failed for me. Went back to the stock PS4 Pro HDD.
My PS4 Slim freezes so often and then the screen turns black. I never bothered to open mine but I just noticed my hdd is very hot after experiencing freezes, is it time to buy a replacement?
It could be. I'd try safe mode first before spending any money on a new hard drive.
@@kevs-gaming thanks for the reply man, once tried initialising it using the safe mode but it still froze so frequently and hard drive is unusually hot after said freezing, no noise at all, just freeze and then shut down, I think I'm set on buying a new hard drive.
It does sound like that could be then issue. Unfortunately, mechanical drives are more prone to fail.

The hard drive is the most common point of failure. Other issues can arise, but the hard drive is definitely the first thing you should check.
For most people with these issues, replacing the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system will fix the issue.
@@kevs-gaming Thanks you so much ❤️
So I have an extended storage for my games and I’m trying to transfer data to my ps5 is that possible
Hey mate!
So mine doesn’t say the code but it crashes really often and screen freezes and then i have to unplug the power wire from my ps4 multiple times and sometimes it says “Connect your DS4 with usb to ur PS4 and asks please plug flashdrive to reinstall system software” and i have done this once but nothing changed.
So should i get a 1TB HDD for my PS4 because i think thats the problem. Please let me know for to be sure.
Thank you!
If a fresh install didn't fix it, replacing the drive and installing the OS again could be the best thing to do.
I’ve had this problem the other day as my brother dropped my PS4. He got me a new ps4 as the other one wouldn’t turn on at all. I tried putting my old hard drive into the new PS4 but this error message came up. I couldn’t enter safe mode either. So I took it out and just put the new hard drive back in. Re downloaded my games. Everything was on there except my career mode on a certain game that I spent hours playing. Anything I can do to recover that from my old hard drive?
I don't believe Sony provides any tools to help you recover files like that. I've not come across any official software for it.
Hey Kev if I wanted a cheap solution to change my hard five to something else what would you recommend?
A good SSD from Amazon will do the job. Which ones depends on your budget, what storage you need etc.
My PS4 Pro broke down about a month ago. I was playing the Elder Scrolls and suddenly things like sound would completely vanish, then my character would blink from location to location and eventually the PS4 would freeze completely. I decided to initialize it after which it would give me the error were it says ''Cannot start the PS4''. I've tried re-installing the software with a USB and sometimes it would boot up to were you see the PS4 & Sony logo, and then once I'd select a language it would freeze again.
So, my question is how likely is it that it's just the harddrive? I've ordered a new drive so hopefully it's just the drive that failed.
( Whenever it was on a inconsistent clicking sound came from were the harddrive would be. )
I would always place the hard drive as the number one cause to examine whenever you encounter any major problems with the Sony PS4.
You ideally want to scan the hard drive for bad sectors to see if there are any issues.
Will putting a new hard drive fix it
It's hard to say Chico, but in most situations, yes. As it's one of the most common faults with consoles.
My frames are dropping and sometimes the screen just freezes it will take 2 to 3 minutes just for it to act normal again
When I play a game it works for 40 minutes and then it starts legging like crazy
it gets to the point where I can barely play any games
Is it the hard drive or is it something else that could be causing this
I have cleaned up my PlayStation and rebuild database but nothing has worked and it only started happening a month ago
When a problem like that occurs, it could be because of a number of different hardware and software problems. The hard drive is the most likely cause of these problems though.
The Playstation 4 was released in 2013 and mechanical drives can fail from three to five years if they're used often (or even sooner).
The only way to be sure would be to install a new 2.5" SSD and see if that resolved the problem. It's unfortunately trial and error when resolving that kind of issue where no error is appearing.
Hey I got a ps4 pro and it keeps going to safe mode and I’ve done the thing where you delete everything then I download game and try to play then it freezes then ps4 turns off and goes to safe mode every time do I need to buy new hard drive or what
It could be the reason. There's many things that can go wrong in a PS4, bit the hard drive is the most common issue.
The only way to scan the health of the drive would be to connect it to another computer and scan it.
This is a old video and I don’t know if you’ll get this my dashboard lags and freezes a little and when I start play a game it starts lagging and then freezes up fully now my question is could it be the hard drive? It’s my fault for buying it from Facebook but if it’s just the hard drive I can easily replace that but i don’t want to waste money if I don’t need to
It could be the hard drive. You'd have to scan the drive to be sure, but it's the most likely cause.
Did you format and scan the drive's health when you bought it?
I'd always be reluctant about buying second hand drives from marketplaces unless the seller has shown the drive's health. Even then, it can be risky.
I've just started facing issues with my PS4 Slim yesterday and ongoing, my PS4 powered itself down out of the blue, (no flashing red LED's or beeps to indicate overheating/no errors on display). Rebooted it after 5 minutes, seemed fine, updated the Software, within a few hours games started running very badly.
Now I have after booting to safe mode, rebuilding the database, and even factory erasing the console and starting again, it's still running dead slow, very slow boot up, menu screens very slow, games won't boot up anymore, these symptoms seem to point to a hard drive fault/malfunction/failure, am I right in thinking?
I'm going to buy a replacement 1TB drive and fit it, I've already downloaded the software/firmware from Sony's website onto a usb drive, I just wanted to really get your and people's opinion this would be a solution to my issues, I only want to keep it going until I can upgrade to PS5 next year.
This should (hopefully) resolve the issue.
The PS4 is just like a PC and has fans, CPU, GPU and other components. So many things can potentially fail, however the hard drive is easily the most common point of failure. So it should hopefully fix your issues.
@@kevs-gaming All of the symptoms with it booting very slowly, menus being very slow and not loading games, seem to point to it being a hard drive fault, or bad sectors, there were no overheating issues, and no flashing white light either, I'm going to upgrade it to an SSD 1TB as I've found one for only a few quid more than the other HD Drive I was looking at, already have downloaded the latest OS/Firmware from Sony's website onto a usb drive, so just waiting for the replacement drive to arrive, I will comment here if it works, I hope! just long enough until I get my PS5 in the spring!

My PlayStation has been stuck in safe mode and I can’t even get out of it and my PlayStation is really dusty, could that be the problem?
Dust isn't going to help. You should definitely clean away dust as best as you can.

Amazon is a good starting point.

The operating system could be corrupted. I'd try and reinstall the OS before resorting to changing the hard drive.
I was able to get mine in safe mode and then did a master reboot. It runs extremely slow now. Should I get a new HDD or is it a different issue?
Get a new one man.
@@wockeshaaaa, lol useful comment.

There's a few reason it could be running slow, such as available space in the drive etc.
Have you sent through safe mode to check the drives status etc.

thanks,my games were crashing a lot and I restarted it but I just had to unplug the power bc the ps4 froze, any way for me to check its health?
Is there a way to transfer the data from the dead hard drive
You can use a hard drive cloning application to copy files from one drive to another, but obviously that's not possible if one drive is dead.

The hard drive could be the issue. Get and boot into safe mode first and try a few options there before you replace the drive.

I believe that should be it.
In theory, the new setup should recognise the drive when it's connected. Worst case scenario is that you would have to download again.

Yes.

The hard drive is the most common issue, though other components can potentially cause problems too.
For the majority of people, replacing the hard drive will fix the issue.
@@kevs-gaming i did and i fixed it thanks .
Can you tell me what causes the hard drive failure ? I had the power cord pulled out several times when the ps4 was still running can that cause the problem?
Yes that can cause issues with hard drives. Read and write errors can occur, bad sectors etc. You should always close down the PS4 using the shutdown option with the controller.
@@kevs-gaming alright thanks all those were done by mistake have a good day

This happened to me last year so I ended buying a new ps4 because it wouldn’t fix . 13 months later , it’s happening to my new one :( . Would replacing the internal hard drive
fix it 100% ?
100%? No. There's no guarantee that something else isn't internally causing the problem, however the hard drives is one of the most common parts to fail. Especially mechanical drives.
Kev's Gaming Channel yea I just replaced the drive with the one that an old Xbox S (I won it in a raffle and never used it ) had and the games aren’t lagging so far . Thank you . Do you recommend buying a better hard drive ?
SSDs generally have lower failure rates than mechanical drives, but that does depend on the drives you're comparing.
What SSDs will do is reduce loading times for games. So it should give you a faster user-experience due to the improved rear and write games.
However, once a game is loaded, you probably won't see any tangible difference.
Hey, I’m still having problems with my PS4. I kept on getting corrupted data from the applications. I already tried rebuilding the database for like 20 times and still having the same issue with corrupted data. I don’t know if it’s the hard drive or it needs cleaning. Everytime I play games, my save datas kept on getting corrupted. I don’t know what’s wrong with this console.
If rebuilding the database isn't working, you may have to completely reinstall the operating system.
If that doesn't fix the issue, my guess is that you need to replace the hard drive.
Hi Kev can you please help me,
All my PS4 downloads are corrupted and the menu is super sluggish and always freezes. I’ve been thinking of replacing the hard drive but don’t know if it’s just the hard drive or the whole console.

It can be troubleshoot exactly which component is causing the issue, but in most situations, it's the drive that does need replaced.

@@kevs-gaming i also sometimes hear a click every 10 to 15 minutes in gameplay, i can only stream games on ps now since all the downloads won’t work and my ps4 freezes and turns of when i try to launch a game
It could be the drive. Mechanical drives have a poor failure rate.
Is it possible for a faulty hard drive to only affect one game? Only one of my games constantly crashes no matter how many fixes I try but every other game works fine?
In short, yes. Hard drives can fail at any time. Days, weeks, months or, if you're lucky, decades later.
What should I do if my ps4 slim says that cannot start ps4 and I try option 7 with isb drive but doesn’t work
You ideally want to test the drive elsewhere to see if you detect any bad sectors.
You could reinstall the operating system too.
@@kevs-gaming I tried reinstalling system but it did not work I ended up doing three or four times
Sounds like you may have to replace the drive.
Okay last thing, it keeps saying there’s something wrong with the system software and then it says “data base is corrupt the ps4 will now restart” I’m sorry to keep asking but do I just get a new ps4 or is there parts I need, and all this stared because I unplugged it a few times by accident
By the sounds of what you're saying you shouldn't need to buy a new PS4 hopefully. The first thing you should do is try and start the PS4 in safe mode. Press the power button and instead of letting go keep pressing the power button until you hear a second beep. Release the power button on the second beep and the PS4 will turn on in safe mode. Use your controller to select the option "rebuild database". This should hopefully fix your problem of a corrupted database. If you can't get your PS4 to start in safe mode or the PS4 fails to complete the database rebuild then your HDD is probably broke or failing. All models of PS4 in general are very reliable so hopefully at worst you will have the replace your HDD.
Conor is correct. Boot into safe mode before you do anything else.
You may be able to resolve the issue via safe mode or by reinstalling the operating system.
Hey Kev! My ps4 doesn’t do into safe mode unfortunately....I’ve tried holding it down for 7-10 secs it beeps twice and then just turns itself back off if press it for 7-10 secs, but if I just turn it on normally, it says cannot access system storage....any tips?
My guess is that you need to either reinstall the operating system or replace the hard drive.
