The guitar tone on Can't Get This Stuff No More has always intrigued me, it sounds brash and cutting but also crystal clean at the same time. Especially the mad outro groove. Great work as always Pete!
Nobody can fill the EVH shaped hole in my heart better than Pete Thorn. His playing, writing and passion make for the best demo videos around, and this review of the amazing BOSS SDE 3000 was on fire! Thank you Pete Thorn.
Pete is so passionate and respectful of the EVH legacy and it's fun when he's super into a piece of gear. The song on this demo and the tones are amazing. I'm curious why they didn't add any modulation to the delay for that 90's pitch shifty delay thing.
I sit here just enamored at how good this sounds! ED would be so proud of the job you done and the whole team at Boss that made this happen. Not to mention it’s like hearing a new VH tune in a round about way. Fantastic video Pete..
The folks at BOSS knew & understood the assignment when it came to nailing the sound of the SDE-3000. And they just nailed it again with the BOSS SDE-3. Well done vid, this!!
WOW... I knew by the way you were talking about it yesterday that this would be awesome... but never guessed it would be an EVH Delay of this MAGNITUDE! BEYOND AWESOME!!! 😎🎸🤘🐦
I had two of those in the late 80, early 90's in my rack system. Dummy me, I sold them. I loved those SDE-3000s... even loved the way they looked in my rack. I still have an SDE-1000, which is extremely clean and basically the same unit, just a scaled-down version of the SDE-3000. But Like I said, I kick myself now for getting rid of those SDE-3000s. GREAT delays. Very cool, Mr. Thorn!
Also, the EVH edition and the standard SDE3000D can do so much of the core of the dual delay sounds from The Edge and Daniel Lanois. This is a powerful tool!
The Micro pitch Jam! Face punching intro and stoked for this pedal to go with my original 3000. Wolfgang is really doing his father proud, so grounded and doing the right things to bring his father's favorite and iconic gear to the masses. Fuck going to need a bigger pedalboard.
Peter, the perfect player to do a deep dive on this great sounding pedal. My biggest props go to Boss for the presentation appearance. So many times the striping is way overblown, this looks killer
Don't think I've ever seen an EVH Wolfgang arch top in the amber quilt like that before. Very beautiful. And as always, Pete, your playing is fantastic. Great job!
I have been running wet dry wet for decades ! It took a bund of’pedals to do it ,but I love that huge sound ! I can't wait to get this ,it's like it was made for’me! Thank you ! Eddie was/ is the Einstein of guitar ! Thanks evh ,boss!
This seems to be the best of all by itself ...then if you add the combination Boss/EVH/Pete Thorn it's a guarantee and it must be really the best of all 🙂
alright dude...its been a minute since ive bought a pedal, but you just sold me on this...buying one now! i hope Boss (and other companies) see this....hehe.. great playing as always!
Mate that’s an incredible sound and your playing is delicious. We will be talking about and figuring out EVH tones and playing for ever . EVH is immortal .
That sounded like EVH channeled himself from beyond through the hands and mind of Pete .... No better way to describe that opening track other than... it made me very happy.
Pair with the Eventide MicroPitch pedal in front of it and you should have that Hagar era EVH tone. I have an Eventide H9 fully loaded and have been getting by with a pair of BOSS DD-2s. The lure to upgrade here is in those presets and the ability to run wet-dry-wet direct out from this thing... I don't have the amps to do that, but I want the ability to :)
Pete, there is no way I can have knowledge that this has been birthed into the world and not have one. Damn you!!! Pre-order from Sweetwater complete. Beautiful job. Stunning.
I love Pete not only for his playing but for his in depth explanations. Not only does he explain everything in detail, if you pay close attention he has physically and incrementally removed the amp heads in the background and rewired everything as he compared the W/D/W vs the Stereo setup vs the Mono setup. Pete is a class act and Thank You for all you do Sir !!
Pete is so bad ass no matter what he shows and demos!!! As an admitted “mid level, weekend warrior , hobbyist, player, with 15 years behind him!!! He kills it everytime!!! You are a truly inspiring player!!!!
Congrats PT...I know this is a labor of love! The delay is Never dark! Looks like my bank account is getting smaller! Btw it sounded like you were going to play "Inside Out' by XYZ. Lol
This can be used for the 5150 and 0U812 tour eras as well…Ed started using the SDE-3000s on the 5150 tour, but they weren’t used with a center dry cab until 1990 when Matt started working for him.
Was thinking recently that Boss should come out with a dedicated sde 3000 pedal. Glad they did! And they took it even further than expected! Pete, I've already lost count of the amount of times I've replayed this video. Tons of useful info 👌
Great demo, it sounds amazing. Also it's really cool to see that you were involved in the making of this pedal. I know you love and respect Eddie Van Halen, you truly deserve this.
Im so getting this! Sounds amazing. I soer of knew it would tho, because its a collaboration between one of my favourite pedal companies and my favourite RUclipsr
This pedal is AWESOME. Sidenote: Pete I played your Suhr at Chicago Music Exchange yesterday and that is one of the best feeling guitars I've ever played. Perfect weight and a slick neck with a great feeling neck and radius. Might save up for one someday.
Aw, man... your opening comments on love and respect for Eddie... dig it! Hats off for Boss' getting you involved. As always, appreciate your attention to the little details of Ed's playing, tone, and gear pursuits ... respect!
At first when I saw this, I was like. Oh great.. just another pedal attached to someone's name, however when you started explaining the functions, specifically the ability to recreate sounds for each albums I became fascinated! Also the fact it's based off of a pre existing rack unit! And the FEATURES! you all hit a home run with this! ED would aprove!
I caved and bought one of these. Paired it with my tone-x direct to interface. It’s a must buy. It’s not your typical delay. It has a certain voicing to it. You don’t even need a pitch pedal with it. It really makes the low end have nice rounded signal to it while smoothing out the highs. Also pick scraping has a refined quality to it. Definitely sounds like Eddie and made me play better. Great job Pete!
At 27.38 is the coolest thing ever. Not marked at time line but it is B3. This video could have been also titled The Musical Delay Basics Masterclass by Pete Thorn. And many other ways. Absolute Gem!
I sold my immaculate 1980s SDE 3000 in 2022. Something told me I should take it for a ride before shipping. I put it on a chair in my recording room plugged straight into my 1970 Marshall JMP and played. Just played, for a while… I hope the buyer is enjoying it. A big part of the SDE’s charm is the treatment of the echo signal, extreme high pass and low pass, a bit of very low ratio compression, and some sort of wobble that I may have imagined. It was perfect. It also weighed as much as all the rest of my programmable system. I may have kissed it before sealing the box.
Thank you for all of your knowledge, hard work and effort in this project, Pete! We couldn't have achieved this without you.
THANK YOU BOSS! Great team effort!
BOSS how cool would it be to have a EVH IR-200 to go with this ;-)
BOSS/Roland rules! 🌎 ❤
How would this work for a WDW with 2 Komet AMbikab jr's?
You guys killed it ❤❤❤
Can’t think of anyone better than Pete to be involved in a project like this. Well done on a job done well
Thank you Paul!
Look up Craig Parker Adams, tho Pete is good of course
Pete make a rack version
In this demo you feel the love and honor that pete shows to eddy. This stands out. And I immediately felt this.
Eddie
He's my #1 influence and was really good to me as well, we had to do this one just right- for him!
@@BentTom Eddy. Schmeddie. Who cares? This demo made me buy one from Sweetwater 😊
That opening track was pure magic.Easily the best new guitar riff I’ve heard in a very long time. Amazing work Pete.
Thank u!
It's like Eddie, George Lynch and Warren DeMartini wrote a song together. No offence intended there, it's still very much Pete.
🐶🎶
Sounded like the verse riff to can’t get this stuff no more - Van Halen
Ok boomer
Man, your inner Eddie never shone so bright as in the beginning of this video. What a sound and what wonderful playing!!! Thanks!!! ❤❤❤
A very respectful and inspiring tribute, Pete. Eddie is smiling down on you. I got goosebumps! Thank you for this!
The guitar tone on Can't Get This Stuff No More has always intrigued me, it sounds brash and cutting but also crystal clean at the same time. Especially the mad outro groove. Great work as always Pete!
Good comment. Totally agree. Hearing EVH late career tones was magic
It's already been said, but that opener was so good, just unreal. There's love there, and it's a shared thing.
Thank u!

Actually there is full mod on both delay engines available! In my video I demo this...
We’re is the full mod Pete ? Thanks
Love the sound of the new Boss unit and it’s many features . Also the sound of your Suhr PT100 in your tone chain . Impressive as well !
BOSS has made the right choice to involve you in this pedal... great job Pete and thank you !

Simply amazing. For a few seconds during that intro it felt like the king was still alive.
What a cool pairing for this project. Great work by all!
What a cool re-imagining of the 'Can't get this stuff no more' riff
We can feel your respect of Ed a billion percent!!! This video was gold! The sound is one of the best I’ve heard !! Bravo!

Really impressive! Must have been a lot of work for the team and You. Surely my next purchase.
The wet/dry/wet outputs straight out of the box is so sick
The Micro pitch Jam! Face punching intro and stoked for this pedal to go with my original 3000. Wolfgang is really doing his father proud, so grounded and doing the right things to bring his father's favorite and iconic gear to the masses. Fuck going to need a bigger pedalboard.
Wow! No wonder Chris Cornell hired you! You’re an absolute killer guitarist! Love the channel, Sir! 🎸
Thank u!
Wow man, nice job on the collab and the vid. True to Eddie's constant tweaking style. Could get lost for days in this one. Thanks man!
What a beautiful sounding pedal, Mr. Thorn!
Good stuff, man. Thanks for sharing and keeping the love for Eddie. We all love and miss him. 🤙
Much respect for your admiration of EVH and every player that influences what you do!
Pete, you nailed it! The perfect man for the EVH Job!
Awesome Pete this is one of your best demonstrations, what an incredible pedal. you can feel the love , to the Master of Guitar EVH 🎸
That sounds incredible. At first read I was like "eh that's kinda cool" but then I heard it. Wow, man.
Peter, the perfect player to do a deep dive on this great sounding pedal. My biggest props go to Boss for the presentation appearance. So many times the striping is way overblown, this looks killer

Same. I thought it was a Peavey at first.
I have one ❤ ✅ and I put in a FU Tone Brass Block & Trem Stop Noiseless Springs It’s so Beautiful & A Tone Machine I’ll sell mine for $5,000 😊❤
You’re the right guy to demo this Pete… it sounds incredible!

I’ve got this pedal and I’m still learning how to use it it’s awesome thank you for all the info
Dude… Absolute 🔥 playing as always! Long live EVH! 🖤🤍❤️
Thanks!
Opening track is an absolute monster. I’ve replayed the first 2 min of this vid a dozen times🤘🏻. Sounds like you guys nailed it with this delay unit.

Pete, you were the perfect choice to help and give input on this pedal! it sounds bloody amazing! wow! Great job Pete and BOSS!
I certainly hope that track is on the next album Pete! Killer bounce.

Great track! As always Pete, you rock 🤟🤟🕺🕺Capturing Ed’s personality, but with buckets of your own! Love and respect from Oz fella.
Only Pete can rip into a Van Halen-esque intro jam and not sound like a dork. Majestic!
Why would play in the style of VH possibly make you sound like a dork?
@@shyboy2112 If you are not up to it. It's more than just tapping 'something'. Try playing something in the spirit / feel of EVH. That's really tough.
Nobody better to demo this. Great stuff sir!
Thanks!
I don’t need another delay… but I so want this!😅
Probably the best guitar sound I've ever heard (after the Sacred One of course) with or without delay. Chapeau, Pete.
