Pebblebee Card Review - Five months later...

- The Chipolo Spot was an absolute failure but people who saw my review recommended the Pebblebee Card. I don't like to review things out of the box as I'd likely recommended the Chipolo Spot on first impressions.
This time I waited about five months before reviewing the Pebblebee Card, another Find My compatible credit card shaped tracker. It mostly works but is that really enough?
To make the video a bit more interesting, I took the Pebblebee on a cross country ski trek to see how it'd perform in the wilds of Oregon. The skiing was much better than the card. Even if this is follow up to one of my least popular vids, it's fun for me.

Thanks for another brilliant and honest review. I was just about to order a pebblebee because I was curious if they got it right. I fully support your take on Tile devices!
This is almost good but the inability for me to get it to reliably beep is frustrating. The one thing it was good for was checking to see if my wallet was in my house or my car, as it'd give me the last position and last connected. I imagine if someone's issue was leaving their wallet at restaurants or friend's houses or place of work etc, the last known position would be even more useful. Over all, it's best to just get an airtag.
I wish someone other than Tile made a quality wallet tracker.
I also was disappointed in the pebble bee.I didn’t know that this will only track less than 1000 miles .I went on a trip to Spain and used these to track my luggage and it never worked
The Find My service works by pinging iOS devices. To find your item that would likely be OTHER iOS devices. It's not really relevant how well the BLE can connect to your own phone in the middle of a forest because that's not what they're designed for.
Think of this a worst case scenario, people don’t always on crowded urban area.
You’d expect to beep it within a normal range especially when there’s zero interference out where i was.
I bought Tile in 2022 and tested it on a trip to Turkey. It failed abysmally. It would point to incorrect direction on a map and fail to turn on the chirp, all while within maybe 20 feet.
20 feet isn't too far from the hard limit of bluetooth which is about 30 ft. Unfortunately the effective range for all of these products is limited by bluetooth. Of all the products I've used (Tile etc), AirTags are still the best.
@@dmug 20 feet works well for finding keys, but not children - which was my usecase. Children within 20 feet aren't lost :) even if sometimes it may seem so.
Hey, can you review the Eufy Security SmartTrack Card? Similar concept, but you can also use the card to ping your phone with it.
Thanks for the review! I was close to getting this. What is the green card you have the air tag attached to?
Girlfriend picked it up, this is it:

Have you tested Anker Eufy Smart-track for wallet thingy? Curious how it'd fare
I have not, first time hearing about it
@@dmug I saw some reviews online, n just placed an order... works with "Find My" n can also 2-way locate (press a button on card n phone will ring, with unchangeable annoying tone)
Oh yea, I ditched the idea of getting a Chipolo after seeing your video + some comments.
Is there any rechargeable alternative? A throw-away tracker is a no-go for me.
I'd highly recommend going the path of an AirTag
I don't know about this one from a year ago but the new Pebblebee trackers are rechargeable.
Interesting that the connection and ring are delayed or need to be closer. I have a Pixel phone and at times will ask my Google Home to find my phone. It responds it should be ringing but it doesn't ring the phone. I'll search for my missing phone and when I find it no ring tone. Then about 3 to 5 minutes later my phone starts to ring! Oh boy... something isn't working correctly right?
What is the green AirTag holder that you show in your video? Starting at 5:43 in your video?
Had to ask my girlfriend since she got it for me

Thank you. I was gonna ask as well.
@@mikewolf5367 Still using the AirTag holder, its much more useful than anything else I've found.
Thanks for the review! Result stay away from the Wallet trackers
Just saved me $60
HAVE YOU TRIED EKSTER?
The snow absorbs the RF! That’s why the range is bad 🤣
It doesn’t matter that much, it wouldn’t be much different than dirt or carpet. The source surfaces people would lose a tag on aren’t usually radio reflective outside of perhaps concrete.
Also, this thing sucks even if you drop your keys on pavement. And I don’t think I showed in the video, but the AirTag performed a hell of a lot better in the same environment.
@@dmug no, that’s the thing. Water absorbs 2.4ghz RF. That’s the reason microwave ovens also use 2.4ghz (they heat water)
My Pebblebee has worked without a hitch (unlike the POS Chipolo). If I were to get a wallet tracker nowadays I would also consider the KeySmart.
“Not freedom units” 😂 inleg place in the World🤣🤣🤣
Great review. Nice job.
I'm trying to find something like this but for android. is it known if the issues with this unit are partly down to apples restrictions??
Pebble bee has an Android app
android version only releasing next month!
Can you please do a review on Nutale trackers later on? Thanks.
It isn't Find My compatible so I'm not really looking to buy anything that's a different platform.
Eufy tracker any good?
Someone else asked about it and I haven’t used it. I probably won’t get it as i have a workable solution now and I’ve been burned twice. I’m already out about $60 now on trackers that do not work.
So if I don't care about my data being sold I should get the tile slim for my wallet?
Yep, it’s not as good as the AirTag but pretty close and a lot more slim. It’s the best ultra slim tracker.
@@dmug but you have to pay a subscription
No. Tile doesn't use the Find My service. It also doesn't use any similar service on Android. The only way to get ping location on it is to be right next to it AND be running the Tile app on the phone. How many people do you think have the Tile app installed out there? How about comparing that to how many people simply own an iPhone? Ya, Find My devices get a ping from any/all iPhones and iPads or Watches out there. That's orders of magnitude more people.
10 meters, I get 30m and that's with a wall in the way and inside the car , that said if your using apple just don't buy any 3rd party tags as apple doesn't allows imprecise Bluetooth finding (requires UWB witch non of the 3rd party tags have, so you can only make them chirp if you get close enough to connect to it)
Samsung and soon Google (may 27th) uses power level to tell you if you closer or further away from the tag (samsung s21 or higher plus/ultra phones have UWB support for precise finding for the smarttag 2, smarttag 1 did not have UWB and smarttag + had horrible battery life)
Waiting for the chipolo tags to come (I would have ordered Pebblebee if I was aware of them as they are rechargeable) so be intresting how they work
Google is opt-in by default (like apple) so it functionality wise work extremely better then samsung as its opt-out by default (less then 1-2% have it enabled as it only pops up once to ask if you want to enable it most dismiss it because they don't know what it is)
Google will probably work even better then apple as the offline network is any manufacturer of android 9 or higher device (it's a lot of devices)
has anything changed?
I gave up on it as it didn't work very well. If they've fixed the issues with range, I haven't heard about it.
Anything good for Android?? 😢
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is such a bad review.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ make your own better review?
Great review I just saved my self 30 dollars. Thanks, I’m going with Apple AirTags.
There's a modified airtag someone sells where they pull apart the airtags with a thinner case on etsy too.
@@dmug
Wow that’s amazing thanks I will look for it. That sound practical.
