You sometimes get a glimpse in some movies but more often you get story archetypes and stereotypes. And even with RUclipsrs, they mostly like to show the touristy, stereotypical stuff. Or are outsiders themselves so they get the sanitized version of the places they visit. Good luck on your journey, brother! I think good things are coming your way.

First and most important, it's so cool to see regular Japanese people cutting loose after a long day, showing how they're cool people just like anywhere else. There's none of the sanitized 'everything is perfect' image sold by youtubers and tourist sites. Second is getting to just listen to everyday Japanese being spoken, especially by guys. I'm only starting to try to learn, but.can alteady hear how stiff book language sounds, and most teaching sounds more feminine. Actually hearing the way guys talk to each other may seem like a small thing, but as an adult dude it'd be silly for me to sound like a high school girl when I'm just trying to communicate.

I used to work in a bar just like that, in Shibuya. Long time ago! Our mama-san kept things a bit more civilised though, no drinking for us girls and the karaoke was at least usually less wild. And it was themed as an English conversation bar, with Swedish girls for the conversation (yes we were all fluent in English) 😁. Sweet memories. Learned to love Japan there ❤
Keep up the good work! As someone who used to be interested in skating and now interested in Japan, it might be interesting to see people from different prefectures. Maybe you can have a little bit of interview-style with older skateboarders and them telling stories? Gotta capture all the awesome stories!

I found out about you because youtube recommended me a video from the channel called Oriental Pearl. I lived on the streets for a while in Brazil, which is a third world country. Lived in a squatted house too, and ate scraps, dumpster dived. Fast forward more than a decade and I'm in a much better place in life right now.
