- Here in one of the coldest areas of Bolton we come to turn around which I know are the biggest lawns I've ever looked after we have nearly 900m2 of lawn to get looking in top order for the summer, Mark has got them looking decent in his 18 months of looking after them but wants me to take them to the next level, So join me throughout the year when we will be scarifying, over seeding topdressing, fertilizing over the when the spring comes but today we give a winter feed and then give a nice scarify/groom and a cylinder cut.

Happy New Year Daniel, Santa brought be aAllett mower for Christmas ! Can hardly wait to cut some grass!
Really? Wow some present, someone must like you
Can’t wait to see these 2 lawns in the spring/summer when you’ve worked your magic on these lawns Dan
I really don't know how you could even think about taking on such a big job on your own. Credit to you Dan, it would terrify me and most people
Well he and his son will muck in when the scarifying and top dressing takes place, I’m more an orchestrator
Plus wanna see the effect of having big stripes over a bigger area, really think its going to be epic
You still have my deep respect, I'm sure you will get a great result 👍
I think the money would be a good reason to take it on…
Never mind the lawns - the hair cut n colour is looking superb!
My natural colour lol
Happy and blessed 2024
It’s the dead of winter here in Northern Illinois, USA (Zone 5). Glad to see some guys can still get yard work done!
Snow?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpertwe had a few light snows but they melt. Temperature is hanging between 20-30°F (-6.67 to -1.11°C)
@@scoobydoo5447 guessing hollow core aeration out the question? Do they great lakes freeze?
The ground is frozen so not much we can do. Around here we usually aerate usually mid September through end of November. As for the Great Lakes, if it’s a hard winter, they will freeze over. This year is pretty mild but I think there’s a few spots up towards Canada that have some ice buildup.
Some house that mate! Happy new year and look forward to your vids in 2024
One thing for sure... they asked for a help to the right guy.
Happy New Year Danniel 🎉
Gonna be another nice one to follow
Right now I wish I’d asked Santa for a mower snorkel and aerating flippers! [and that takes you back "Do It All"]
Nothing wrong with a Lynx set Daniel. 🤣 Looking forward to spring. 🙂
Wishing you a superb 2024 Dan.
You to mate
Excellent 👌 can't wait to get back on my lawn!! Just far to soggy here in Scotland just now !
I think i timed that one just right, its not stopped since i filmed doubt i could get on this now. Wettest year in along time this period between june and now
I got my Allett awn mower serviced by someone else in hayling Island, near Portsmouth. Also the blade set and sharpened...all for the bargain price of £125....
Good price mate
Quite a lot of work to do with both lawns. Will look forward to seeing the improvement in the spring.
Happy New Year Daniel 🎉 Very excited to see more of this project in 2024!
You supplied here few tonnes , same to u
Happy new year daniel, such relaxing videos to watch and inspirational too!all the very best for 2024
Thanks mate same to you
A 32 inch waist pair of trousers 😀 so needing to be returned, hopefully they will have a suitable size. Thanks for the motivational new year video.
To big or to small?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert at 30 I fitted into 32 but now at 77 ? draw your own conclusions 😁
@@y9art could go either way dont people get thinner as they get older especially in their 70s
Looks amazing!
Easy on the superlatives lol as you leave yourself with no greater words when i really do do something amazing! Was impressed with the battery life
Happy New Year Dan. Oh baby did Santa call to my house Dan. Brand new Hayter Harrier 41 sitting in the shed (Xmas/40th birthday present), and all being well, a Cobra SC41 scarifier should be on the way sometime late January, early February. Without wanting to wish life away, I cannot wait to get going. I also can’t wait to follow you from now until the end of the year….LETS GO!!!! 🤙🏼
Nice one deffo on the good list you was
Great to hear you adopting a long term process, for those of us with large, new to us lawns, this is a sensible and affordable approach. These vids help me learn and become more confident in the process. Looking forward to this new product!!! Winter has devastated the progress to date but looking forward to the new year to get going again.
Look forward to seeing what you can do with your lawn
I got a hover air x1 for Christmas.👍👌😁😊
Great new project! You might need to bring that 20” ATCO out for this job 😂😂
Havent got the machine now so its redundant
I got a lovely medium Raith Rovers T-shirt which I thought would be too small but was a lovely fit. I also got a large Raith Rovers hoodie which was too small 🤷♂️ think I might risk a light scarify and some miss treatment.
Finished the year top of the league which is nice.
What division are they in?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Scottish Chanpionship. Three points ahead of Dundee United but they have a game in hand.
Great work as always Dan.
Looking forward to seeing the results in spring.
Daniel, today 11/1 is dry and sunny.
Tomorrow looking the same in South Lakeland +7c with overnight low of +1c.
When you say it's OK so long as it's not frosty, I take it you mean frost on the lawn when you cut it?
Can/should I give my front lawn a cut on high tomorrow?
Yes aslong its its not frozen grass/ground
Sorry if this is a dumb question, why do stadiums water the field at halftime of games? They do that as well at the earthquakes games in San Jose. Seems that would lead to a muddy surface and create more damage.
Because the players want to see it as its psychological but also these premier pitches if desso hybrid then these have a sand content of upto 95% so water drains straight through even when its raining, like at ht today at bolton match it was chucking it down but they watered it at ht
Greetings to you in the states?
Used to do it at the Rugby at Wigan also, makes it pretty hard to keep hold of ball. See it less now though.
Hi Dan, when will you be restocking autumn punch on your site? Thanks.
I wont be it will be rise n shine next in a bout 3 weeks
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpertwould you recommend applying that from here on until spring then? Thanks again for getting back to me.
@@davidg5983 it will work for sure
i’m a matchday groundsman at lincoln, didn’t realise you would be at the game
I did think about contacting craig via east riding as he works for them now as you prob know wondering if he could get us in on pitch before the game
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert yeah, 2 different head men since him now a lad called liam used to work at man city and macclesfield

A great video , thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
What height did you cut the lawns with the Cylinder mower?
Thanks.
Rob.
30 wasnt it in the video? Kept at that
Is Lynx any good to get rid of Fusarium?🙂asking for a friend.
Makes it smell nicer
Happy new year firstly. These lawns are similar size to mine What fungicide did you use dan ?
Instrata elite
Thankyou
What temperature is to cold to cut the grass as mine needs doing
No temp is too cold aslong as its not frosty
Happy New Year Dan, Christ you never stop for a good few days break. I think you just prefer to be out working and watching football, than being at home with the wife and kids on boxing day😂😂😂😂Huge difference to the before and after pictures!!! Think I may put some iron down on mine when we get a dry day later this week, I dont have any moss as my lawns only got newly sowed in September with johnsons premier seed, and I find they are a lush dark green anyway, but will just try some iron as I have never used it before.
No wife so yeah prefer working and watching football, then daughter at the weekend
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert oh sorry mate, didn't realise, understand your choice now👍
@@markslade9722 when i mention the wife in videos its just in jest, i have an estranged wife
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert got you, I thought I had heard you mentioning a wife before in some of your videos. Hope you had a great Xmas and New year's eve. Looking forward to seeing your work again once the seasons starts kicking in from Spring.
Mark do you want to share your video of J. Premier pitch? I used the same seed in August and wonder how does yours look.
Happy New Year Daniel 🎉
Quick question: The lawn is quite patchy from a color perspective. Probably different species of grass. How will/ would you tackle this to make it more harmonious?
Yeah it will be birds sitting in the trees then dropping lime with seeds in just will scarify heavily to knock it back then over seed and try and get some other grass growing but yeah going to be a lawn that wont be 100% perfect all over but we will get it looking epic
my mate opens his presents sat in a chair with a table one side and a bin the other. what he likes goes on the table.
Lol even the presents go in?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpertyes if he doesn't like them.
My lawn is bumpy, thin in places, some moss and weeds. Where would be the best place to start?
Do what i just done in the video
OK. Thanks Dan. Binge watching your videos to get an understanding of what it takes to get a better lawn. Mowing in December? Wow!
Nice house but the noise from that road!!!
It’s a pretty busy road but only at certain times of the day
New gloves for Christmas???
Yes treated myself!
If only l could get my mower to run on Lynx Africa l would be good until the 2028 growing season.
Your good for their sales then, they dont want to lose you!
Aww what a lovely looking house and two massive grass areas! They will have to take it in turns which one to look at first. Nice to see some photos of the work the owner has done to date. I reckon this will look absolutely stunning in time.
I have got some low ph readings on my two lawns , I’ve got some lime to drop on them ( but currently waiting a reply from my email sent to ask how do I apply? Is it by drop spreader ? I’ve got 70 m2 area to cover) Don’t know if to apply now or wait till March.
Need to apply some iron (hopefully this week )
No xmas presents , but once I confirm what I want ? I can have it😅 ( it won’t cover a new lawn mower thought ha ha )
Looking forward to hearing news on your new product 🤞🤞
I wouldnt really get involved with ph, ive been in the game 30 years (since was 14) and never took a ph reading and do my lawns look like they have a low or high ph?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I’ve only looked at it , because sometimes my grass colour hasn’t looked the best sometimes ( I know my soil has clay in it )
I thought I’d give it a try once ( just incase ) otherwise, do I take up the existing lawn and replace with new root zone 🤔😰
No lynx about this year 😢
Aww no hopefully thats a good sign lol
Thats not big! Im watching your videos learning but keep putting off the work as know it will be epic, have just over an acre with all 3 of my lawns around the house.
Anyone want to lend a hand? Bacon butties are on me 😂
Big for me, surely you knew it had 4000m2 half a football pitch when you bought the house?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I do have a quad though with a good spray boom and fertilizer/seed spreader I use on the rough paddocks.
Yes I did unfortunately, but I inherited it so can't complain. One day I will have nice lawns.
