Nice work guys. You are braver than getting into that fiberglass without a mask or gloves. I'm wondering about the baffles though. Does that shed have vented soffits? Also, it doesn't seem like you would have much room left for the insulation. We'll be looking forward to seeing how that all turns out. Thumbs up for stapling the paper to the face of the studs, haha.
Technically they're not vented, but when I looked closely there are gaps and air can come in as if they were vented. So this was a better-safe-than-sorry move on our part. There's not a ton of room left for insulation, and it will be smushed (getting technical here) into place, but it is what it is... The biggest benefit in our region is the radiant barrier and air gap created by the baffles for reflecting the heat away and keeping it from transferring into the interior as much as possible. Winters are mild here so we're not worried about heat loss.
@@LandtoHouse I live just outside of Raleigh, and I just closed my windows this morning. I am contemplating the heater this weekend, but I'll hold off as long as I can.
Just a suggestion for the air vents in the shed. Put some kind of mess over the vents to stop wasp, hornets and that kind of thing getting in, because once you start to make the soaps, they will start coming in due to the wonderful smell of the scents you will be using, love and blessings from Scotland :) :)
angela you are going to feel like you have a whole new kitchen when all your soap making essentials are in the soap shack!! will have to film a video on how you re arrange everything. cant wait.
I’d love a closer look at how the baffles work at the ridge. It’s going to be awesome, both for Angela’s business and making your home into a more relaxing space.
Angela and Sam great job on the Soap Shack an Sam I am like you the cutting of the baffles is like nails on a chalkboard to me lol so I just muted it when she was cutting it. It sounds like the same stuff egg cartens are made out of? But I really enjoy both of your all’s channel! An when Sam said here comes the feral children I’m just bust out laughing because I think of my three grandkids they would probably say is that! It just so cute. An I watched Steep in the Woods channel yesterday about looking for fire wood an I really didn’t know what he was teaching an I sure appreciate it. As I am watching you both putting together the soap shack an I just can’t wait to see the finish product an all of the organization tips I am sure Angela is going to be sharing with us all an Sam what beautiful organization cabinets or shelves you may build for her. Keep the videos coming an be safe as you both can be an God Bless you an your family.
Awesome job! You make me laugh so much! Love the way you both get along! I got a giggle out of the feral children again. Looking awesome! Happy for you Angela!
A tip for fiberglass insulation installation. I used to install a lot of it. Spray your exposed skin (face, neck, wrists and forearms) with Aquanet hairspray. It will close up the pores in the skin and not allow the fibers of the insulation to get in the skin and make you itch. Its not going to make you impervious to itching but it will help immensely. Also if you wash your hands and arms with cold water it will help to make the skin pores smaller.
Such fun watching this. Then you can get really organised. The family appreciates it too. Like the time my boys and their friends "borrowed" my embroidery scissors to cut fine wire they were using to make a fish trap!! Gives a whole different meaning to " a place for everything, and everything in its place."
Coming along nice. sounds like foam board be best space wise. hope you don't run into trouble with critters smelling soap getting in. wasps got in ours had to go back seal every nook and cranny they could crawl in. Be Blessed.
Okay, did anyone notice Angela's cute little black pumps she had on when she started insulation cutting? :) Even when she is working so hard, she maintains her own style of girly self!!! Love it!
Gotta admit, I never heard of roof baffles until last year from either your channel or Doug's. Can't remember. My current shed/future workshop does not have them/will have them.
This was the first time we've used them on a RUclips video, so blame Doug. LOL I've had to do several workaround things in my workshop that are a pain (it was just metal roofing over the framing members), so we're taking the steps to not have issues later with this shed. :)
Wonderful job! I have a shed that my hubby made inside to look like a log cabin with scrap lumber. I did all the insulation and used rolled in the walls and foam board in the doors. It worked out very well!
I’ve been waiting for a video on the “Soap Shed Series” (say that fast 3 times 😂) I am really enjoying watching y’all work on this. I love the way the two of you work together. 👍
Insulating is a drag; however you will be thankful later this winter. I am sitting on the edge of my seat to see what you do to soap-a-fy your Soap Shack. I hope it is not really far from your house because it may be a climb to get there. How far is it away from your house?
YAY for a great job, well done! Will you be adding a window A/C to keep your soaps from melting in 100+ degree summers? Have fun finishing this and on to moving all your smell good stuff inside! Looking forward to the next one! Love yaw! XOXOX
Looking good! It's going to be so so nice! I know that is going to make it so much easier for you to work. Better home time too so the business doesn't stare you in the eye when you try to sit and relax in the evening and get your housework and homeschooling done. I envy you, I need one for my floral and decor bins...........LOL Thinking about it. Where did you get yours? Lowes or Home depot by chance? Blessings
It’s a lot of work to fix a work shop ! 😳😩 itchy insulation 😩 It’s gonna be awesome, Angela !!❤️ Like having a baby .... first comes the love ; and then comes the LABOR 😳🤣😊✅
Wow, lots of work, if those feral children misbehave they can go there rather than the dog house. I can see why those sheds are a bit pricey though they’re made well.
That's the plan! :) Probably an in-room style or window unit (if we can find one small enough) to use when needed. This will be a fully climate controlled space -- the soap needs is! LOL :)
@@sam-and-angela Because the windows in the sheds aren't big like house windows, i used a stand alone air conditioner on wheels that just has a insert that can be adjusted for the window for exhaust- i can take out at anytime. With the installation it made it hot inside. I also added a ceiling fan with a light- they come with remotes.
Great looking job, it nice to see how good you both work together on the videos. With a few more days Angie's Soap Shack (shed) will be open for business, good luck & hope your orders start coming in right away. Hey Sam, don't tell Angie but she has great looking legs, sorry Sam, but I say: when you got them, flaunt them.
why put rafter baffles if you have no soffit vents? Or am I missing the soffit vents? The purpose of those in an actual house is to let air flow from the soffit vents up past the insulation up to the ridge vent. If you have no ridge or soffit vents, I dont see the purpose of those, as there is no air to circulate. My shed for example has a ridge vent (looks like this one does too) but no soffit vents.
Ahh thank you I was a bit confused. I just couldn’t see the ventilation there. Great job, I enjoy watching people build! Less advil required than doing it myself :)
I know there are two windows and the door opening but is that enough ventilation in there? I'm pretty sure you'll be working with chemicals so I would think that more than adequate ventilation would be necessary. Don't want you getting high on soap fumes!
Those rafter baffles should have been cut with a knife. Then they were installed Wrong cause that last small piece should have been TUCKED in Under the longer piece incase of any moisture it would track back down to the side vents. The way its installed incorrectly the moisture will drip right down onto the ceiling.
