    PM Dawn sampled this in their song/video "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss." A side note is that the lead singer of Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley, appeared at the end of their video.

    Reminds me of John Hughes films... Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink....etc. Great reaction! PM Dawn's sample in Set Adrift on Memory Bliss brings this song out of the 80s into the 90's.

    I bought "Through The Barricades" on 12 inch vinyl single ,by Spandau Ballet, and it is one of my favourite tracks ever. I hope one day you will play it.

    This is one of the most gorgeous songs to come out of the 80s. Watching reactions on RUclips, I am reminded of just how much the music I grew up with was infused with jazz. Such a great decade!

    Spandau like Span-dow
    Ballet like a Ballerina. If you put this song on a any party, even today, no matter the type of party. Folks will start slowdancing and getting close on the dancfloor. No cap. Also I like that bro didn't go crazy on the Sax solo, but he still went crazy on the sax solo. Fire edits too

      When I was young and first heard the song thought it was spandue ballet for the longest until i was told it was pronounced the way you saying it kinda thou sometimes to this day say span due but i know its spandau like dow ballet

    Yeah this was sampled many times by American hip hop artists in the 2000s. UK pop was killing it in the 80s this was one of them. This song is very sultry, sexy, you get drawn in pretty easily. You understand why this was sampled many times because it is just a lit song. I used to listen to this on repeat in my 20s back in the 90s eventhough it was a decade old already. It's nice to see your generation getting in on it too. 🙏

    When I drove Tony Kanal from No Doubt, this song came on the radio, and he was raving about Spandau Ballet. Apparently he knows them personally. I think he said they played with No Doubt before.

    The band got their name from Spandau Prison in Berlin. Supposedly, there were many hangings there, in which the victims would twitch and jump at the end of a rope...hence, doing the "Spandau Ballet."

    Slightly off piste but the two brothers in this band - Gary and Martin Kemp, are also actors, and one of their most popular films are them playing twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray, two 1950’s /60’s British gangsters from East London... well worth a watch.

    It's always a huge debate here in England about which decade we (The Uk) produced the best music - WAS IT THE 1960'S (Beatles and Rolling stones, etc ) or was it the 1980s (CULTURE CLUB, THE POLICE, DURAN DURAN, ETC)? I go for the 1980s as the 1980s weren't just devoted to Rock and Pop music. IN the 1980s the Uk had that and much more...

    guys...odd name for a band....spandau was a nazi prison camp,the spandau ballet is the dance you did at the end of the hangmans noose when they hung you there,which they did thousands of.
