I like the second trains horn the most. And the best part is hearing both horns in the distance in between train one and two in the beginning of the video!
Thanks Bill, and I would agree. The week I was home did not have the weather I wanted, but you have to make do with it. When it was sunny, it was extremely windy, as you probably noticed.
man i love the sounds and horn on the first train. would have made a nice ringtone if the detector did come back on. Sounds like the horn on the santa fe engines. brings back memories. not to mention conrail. i missed a ex Con NS leading the Roadrailer at emporia ks today. i heard it alright. SD60M with that nice older horn like Conrail used
ALL the trains I listen to on my tune-in radio ... LOVED the horn battles ... and the 20K ... AWESOME K5LA .... Great Job .... You even got the 35Q which is a NEW train to Hagerstown, MD. ....
Is that where they send 35Q nowadays? It used to be an Allentown, PA to Linwood, NC train before the economy tanked in 2008. 36Q and 35Q had been gone for at least 4 years, and had their traffic blocked into 16T and 15T.
I liked that too, it was a bit mysterious in a way. Once I heard 20K coming the other way, I knew I had to keep the camera rolling to catch the conversation of the horns.
Another great video. Seriously, sell your services to the railroad as their videographer. These aren't just documents; they're statements about how it's the train's world - and we're just lucky enough to live in it. There's a spare stillness to the framing - a space through which the train moves. I especially liked the station in Lebanon. Thanks! Keep up the good work.
Hey, Eric, Just viewed that BAKKEN CRUDE headed East. I believe it is going to through the PAN AM SOUTHERN and it' s final destination is Mattawaumkeag, ME I. e. Northern Maine Junction (NM) where the Montreal and Atlantic will take it to the Irving Refinery in St. John, N. B. Superb vid, and commentary, Keep up the fine work!
I remember seeing that 64W go by me in Cresson. Of course I was eating breakfast inside The Station Inn and didn't get out in time to video or photo it. :-(
You had some really nice shooting sequences in this one. I've never seen a slow-moving ballast train shot so well, you really made the most of your environment there. How many days were spanned shooting this? They gave you a ton of interesting lashups, I never get that much cool stuff whenever I go out that way lol. And that distant horn battle at the very beginning? Perfect. I've never been one to go crazy over the horn, but distant stuff like that is one of my favorite things about the hobby.
Outstanding compilation,Eric! Superb vid and audio. On the first vid, is there any better sound than 645 and 710 engines at "RUN EIGHT"? On the second vid, was that M-2 "shuvin" and "tuggin" them GEVOS?
Great 64W catch! I caught that same set in Westville, NJ, with the BNSF Executive MAC running LHF! Check out my video of it if you want! Its featured on my channel.

Great work on that 11J in the beginning. Got a great shot of the 3437 at CP Gray on the Pittsburgh Line. What a treat that was
Great stuff as always!! Enjoy it so much. Got to get out there this year if just to sit by the tracks and watch!

The one train that is yellow has a Nathan P135R24 train horn. Pretty rare now days.
Nicely produced. A dull, moody feel to much of it. Due to the weather, I guess. Very nice.
25 minutes of bliss.
man you did a good job of doing different locations. I like it.
Yes ... Heard the dispatcher Maurine talking to the train ...

8:52 is my favorite train. That RS3L just killed it dude
Lovely atmospheric first clip.

After the autorack passed, intermodal 20K came and as it passed, it's horn could be heard, too.
Great video!!!!!!
EX Conrail units with Leslie horns kick ass!!!!
The Double Stacker Intermodals and Auto Haulers were moving at a pretty good clip. SD 40 & 60 pulling strong. Nice NS action! UP on lead @ 8:10 .
Great quality video man! I must say you guys get all the EMDs up there. Down here in the south, it's a D9 widecab craze.

Looking at the power in these older NS videos nowadays like: retired, retired, stored, retired, wrecked, rebuilt... oh that ones still running! Lol
Great video! And sweet EL hopper catch at 23:15!
Overall great video and great job! I love it in the beginning when you can hear 11J miles and miles away!
i know it's kinda off topic but does anybody know a good site to watch new series online ?
@Baylor Tucker I dunno I would suggest Flixportal. You can find it if you google :D -julian

I'm surprised they didn't have reps escorting those transformers in a cab. Is that Herzog one of those that can measure how much it's dropping?
As always another great video! 5* \o/!
great eye.
Very awesome! I just subscribed to you.
nevermind i guess there's more trains in the video with the same cool horns.

Was the train at 1130 going east?
