Much of the corruption in ODDer Creek has happened in Town Hall
BUT the Town Hall meetings the past few months have been canceled due to no shows or walk outs
During the March meeting, someone could not attend so it was cancelled
But Don The Con still showed up and was furious that Russ The Suss was not there
The April meeting proved to be just as insane when Don The Con told Jeremy to "shut up" AND Russ The Suss went missing

I learned a long time ago; you never pay someone until the job is done. When the Charter is re-written, I would make sure that the wording states that the council members get paid at the end of each meeting. If you want your check, you will stay to the end of the meeting.
There is no professionalism when a council member thinks it is acceptable to tell a constituent to “SHUT UP”!
Thank God Russ will not be on the board anymore!!
It seems like the ethics committee moved pretty fast on Madam Mayor so I don’t understand why nobody has any information about Russ yet.
They should not be paid until the meeting is done and they stay for the whole meeting

I would suggest that new locks are installed and only certain folks have keys and have a list or put some cameras in town hall truss but verified

Funny how Russ can show up at trial that doesn’t involve him But, doesn’t show for what he ‘was’ involved in, City Council.
In Colorado. I live in unincorporated areas, my taxes on my house, buying a car, even food is cheeper. Across the road is incorporated and taxes are higher.
They should go digital and assign different pin numbers to people. Belinda seems to have it together, they did an awesome job cleaning it up. Too bad we don't know what they took out.
Hope they changed the KEYS to Town Hall and all other buildings and locks.
BTW, the first order that should be taken up once the new board members get sworn in is to change the locks on the town hall building and any other municipal property. For instance the lock to get to the water pump system for the town, etc. You know Russ the Sus has them all and won't give them up!

I cannot understand why the government has not removed Harley from the situation she is in...why does the family need $ to fight her? I don't get why child services hasn't stepped in. same as the turtles...why are they still able to do what they do? why is the government not keeping an eye on things????
I still do not get why they could not swear in the new council members without a quorum. Because if it was a normal year when 2 members still sit and 3 are to be sworn in, there is still no quorum of 3/5 sitting and yet the 2 will sit and they would swear in 3 new members.

It is my understanding that Florida is NOT a community property state so if one partner in a marriage runs into problems with the law, the spouses holdings can not be confiscated. That's why one person has all their property in the spouses name.
I was hoping one of the sisters would hope in and challenge Don or Lori. They love the town and have been lifelong residents.

Hey Laura, you need to remember. Your action’s speak louder than words. Jeremy, I think if Laura Mott really wants to be a OC Council Member & care about Otter Creek residents. Than why doesn’t she attend & participate in any of the meetings where she isn’t being paid to? I also wonder how Don The Con is going to vote with Russ the Suss telling him? Do you think he will be there in order to give him hand jesters or to text him?

Wasn't there a camera during that long ago meeting when Russ' daughter spoke out against him? So cameras have been around quite a long while.
As far as the seatbelt comment goes, here's my feelings. I used to be one of those 'It's my risk, not yours.' One day an officer and I had a conversation. He reminded me that it was my responsibility to keep my vehicle under control. I agreed. Then he said 'How can you control your vehicle if you have been knocked into the passenger seat from a T-bone, and your vehicle rolls into a family minivan. From that point on I saw it as my responsibility to keep my butt well planted in the drivers' seat!
First off I think 100.00 dollars is a little excessive for them .I would say 25.00 dollars per meeting is plenty. Secondly I think the council members should have to deposit their cellphones and recording devices in a box or basket before the meeting starts.thirdly the town can institute a city ordinance that states no junk or junk cars, or unregistered vehicles shall be allowed,and enforce it to the fullest extent of the law or have someone clean it up and add it to the lawbreakers taxes. I know that I’m not a very nice guy but I don’t think that I would put up with these people’s bullshit. I believe in busting someone that pisses me of in the nose and then that I have their attention I would proceed to air my grievances with them.

And I agree! No more checks until the meeting is adjourned. I don’t know of any job that you get paid BEFORE the time is put in. If a workshop is in place, they need to show up. That check is for the month and what needs to happen during it.

People don’t want to be unincorporated Because they will be held responsible for their actions and property. Simple. No pride so they don’t care. They will probably fight that tooth and nail and I bet see people come out you have never seen before fight that. Doing so makes work for them. It really is sad! What is really sad is you are correct from past comments. It is going to take the older/established residents to probably die off without family in the area for change to take place unless it is somehow forced.
With all of the rotting garbage laying around the town it should be called Odour creek.

We had wonderful older couple as neighbors. We shared bbqs, recipes, home improvement tasks and even prayer and bible verses. We did that till they moved away and it was the best times! We had 5 children and they even would teach my kids so many things. Best neighbors!❤️

Don doesn't like missing out, that's the only reason he turned up when the meeting was called off.
He was probably worried they were having meeting without him.
All he did was show how petty he is when he knew there was no meeting, he have a sour look on his face and calling people names.
If he didn't want his criminal history/him and his wife's shady dealings called out then he would shut his mouth and stop annoying people who have the ability to hurt him.
He keeps provoking people and when they retaliate he cries about it.
They shouldn’t get the check till the end of the meeting
They should get paid at the end of the meetings that way they won't pull their BS knowing they already got paid
🤦🏼♀️ this is insane. I know the town won't be ran the right way as long as they keep the nay-sayers in there, IMO unincorporation is the best thing that could happen for this small of a town. If the wrong ones keep getting seated because nobody is running against them , then what's the point?🤷🏼♀️

Back in the day when I worked for Best Lock of New York, we had a saying, Key Control! A necessary step for security if you have key in the lock security hardware! Whether you are in NY or OH or FL you need Key Control to be secure!

I think you are missing a possible reason why Russ wants on the council. He is afraid he will be 1) investigated, 2) he wants total control, 3) he makes all kinds of money by telling his crony Mary Mary how to charge people. Overcharges might be going to the two of them. I am not accusing any one, just suggesting.

Yes taxes will go down and services will go up but down the road they will eventually balance out because the taxes are going to go up to cover the cost of the services in the future. I’ve seen 3 ring circuses, but this ones puts on a big show month after month and it’s better than going to one.
Otter Creek needs a lawyer to advise them. I agree unincorporated would be best.
lol I remember when the seatbelt laws came about. We had people picketing and asking why dont school buses and motorcycles have seatbelts if they are demanding it become law.
Not only was Otter Creek a milling town for cypris trees, it was a railroad town, and 20 miles south of Otter Creek in Inglis Florida is a canal that was being dug to connect the Atlantic to the gulf, which would have used Otter Creek as the rail hub for the shipping. Parts of the canal are there starting in Palatka Florida, if you look at a satellite view of Florida you can see the path of the canal which is dug but never allowed to fill with water other than the streams that currently fill them.

I live in Ohio. My husband and I took over legal guardianship of my niece. My sisters child at age 6 in 1983. There was no click it or ticket seat belt law yet at that time. But we had to put on a seatbelt because if we didn't she would be crying until we did. So we did because we didn't want to distress her. She wanted us to be protected because she wanted us to be there so her life could be more stabil. After wearing seat belts already, because we felt too loose without belts by then, when the new law came in we were already acclimated to it. It was a good thing. A child shall lead them. And so it was.

Actually in some instances a City Charter does have a carve-out from State Constitutions. This can be a good or bad thing depending on which entity is the more corrupt.
