I thank you for both your service and this reaction video. I was British army for 22 years but even I know that a carrier flight deck is among the top 5 most dangerous work places in the world. I think this actually eclipses the original by a wide margin. There comes a time when you have to show your superiors that they're wrong.
You’re not wrong for liking Iceman in the original. He was the most professional and level-headed, and everything he said was true, and he went by the book like you should in the military
Hangman couldn't have done that last minute rescue without authorization. In order for him to even launch from the ship, he would have needed at least a dozen other sailors to also ignore orders ..... Everyone from the "Shooter," to the catapult launch technicians. So, it's evident that he DID get authorization for the save.
Yeah, they just didn't want the audience to know that help was on the way... would have ruined the ending! They alluded to it when they discovered Rooster was airborne and an F-14 was headed to the carrier. That's when they would have sent Hangman!
@@fire12wifeYes, then they have known the two are alive and on the way to the Sea; so Hangman won‘t have to fight with the SAMs - only to escort the two or to help them escaping from fighters over the sea.
Ejecting at Mach 10 or even at Mach 1 is enough to literally rip your body to shreds. So unless he ejected inside of a space capsule that was attached to the plane that protects his body from the 8,000mph wind, Maverick would be more than dead in real life lol
A number of aircraft are set up that way - the pilot basically ejects along with the surrounding cockpit. Far from anything new, the old F-111 is just one example of this.
First of all, i just want to say thank you for your service! You guys are one special kind of persons! Its fun to see reactions from someone that knows a bit about how it actually works. 👍 enjoyd this one, and yeah goose death destroys me still.
The F-14 had a problem that when in a flat spin the the jets design would keep the canopy from ejecting out of the way in time , a number of back seaters WSO’s were killed from this exact issue. When the F-18 came out the issue was no longer .
Thanks for explaining that, I always wondered so what happened to the seat breakers on the top of the seat or the top of the seat knocking it out of the way.. The seat top should have been above his head unless he was too tall for the seat
Goose died because The ejecting seat fired him into the cab glass. And it turned out to be there because the plane was in flat rotation and There's no airflow over the plane to blow it back! And that's why the ejection hits it!
I did see this in theatre and it was amazing. I love this movie so much. Agree with the best sequel ever made. I also saw the first one in theatre 36 years earlier. Yes, I am that old. Gotta hand it to Tom Cruise. He knows how to make a movie.
Yes, it was nice in the theater. Airplanes are limited by engine power, altitude and air friction. Even at Mach 3, the air heating is enough to cook your lunch!
03:36 - it's one thing to know the limits of your aircraft, theoretically... and another to actually test them practically for verification purposes. I am not an aviator myself, but I assume that things like this go through many, many... MANY iterations and test flights before anything even gets greenlit to begin with. Plus, you don't just wanna "rush to the finish line" immediately, for that would be way too risky. Every iteration, you go one little step further and make sure it's stable. Very much like you'd be when overclocking hardware in your computer.
No matter what Trump says about our military calling them suckers, let’s not forget these are the, bravest men and women in the world, and I THANK EVERY person who served our country
F-14 pilots were instructed to delay ejection after blowing the canopy, especially in a flat spin. The plane going Mach 10, might be capable, but it was unknown territory. It takes time and analysis of data to proceed with any margin of safety. The program was going to be cancelled. The plane wouldve been scrapped most likely and even a sanctioned mach 9 flight could end in an explosion. She was mentioned in the first one. Penny Benjamin. It's not the weapons, it's that 5th gen fighters can do somersaults in the air. Hard to attack and harder to defend against when they defy physics.
Except that crazy maneuver, cool as it looked, actually serves no real purpose IRL and would only be for show. That 5th gen pilot just put himself into an indefensible position and was an easy target, because a) he lost way too much momentum and b) needed way too long to catch himself, giving Maverick all the opportunity in the world to shoot him down. The only reason that *didn't* happen in the movie is, obviously, for dramatic purpose. Watch the "Fighter Pilot Podcast" episode where seasoned (ex) Top Gun instructors discuss every detail about it. :)
@@LetsWatchTV89 All due respect, but even Chuck Yeager couldn't make an F-14 maneuver like a 5th Gen can. Basically, an average pilot in a 5th Gen can do maneuvers even the best cannot do in a 4th Gen or earlier. I loved seeing Maverick split the throttles and pivot to get behind the enemy after evading the second missile shot. That's the sort of thing an experienced pilot would pull from his bag of tricks. And as much as I love the F-15, it is the F-16 (representing a 4th gen) that is best capable of clawing out a win, toe-to-toe against a 5th gen. True, the pilot matters, but that pilot is only as good as the plane he's in.
Penny was an admiral's daughter mentioned in the first movie. FYI, the volume on the movie was a lot lower than your voice, might want to balance that a bit. Good reaction!
About cashiers ....I definitely go to them. Why? You buy items in store and you charge yourself for buying it ...fck that. Let them (stores) work for their(my) money. The only way I would go to self-serve check out if there was a an overall discount on what I bought.
ice, has throat cancer in real life, he cant talk, the speeking scenes, were not him talking, dubbed, it was said how they did it i cant rembember, but plenty will let us knkwo
As far as I know, it was a recreation of Val Kilmer's voice with AI technology (which he approved of). So in a sense, it was "him" but also not really.
This was amazing in theaters: saw it twice. But theater or in-home, the tears are honorable. Go Navy! But wait... you said you were in the Navy but kept calling Admiral Kain "general"...???? your story doesn't add up.
Appreciate ya checking out multiple videos and the feedback...Im all in on game of thrones..vids will start dropping next week, ur feedback on those is welcome

Best sequel ever!! The scene with Ice and Maverick is so heartbreaking and touching. Great reaction!!
One of the best sequels ever made
I Love how Warlock always Believed in Maverick ❤

Probably a last minute decision.
@@mothmagic1 I think the order was given right after ‚It can‘t be! … Maverick!‘ - but was not shown to us as a sequence.
@@sa_si_ra Pardon my error you are, of course, absolutely correct.
IceMan was the best pilot, and had the best attitude. Maverick was as named, a decent pilot that bent the rules, and took unnessesary chances.

Loved your reaction. Fantastic movie!
Thank you for your service!!
I saw it five times in the theater.
And i didn't care for the first Top Gun either.
Best. Sequel. Ever.
My only regret is not seeing it in a theatre. The picture is great on my TV, but nothing compares to theatre sound and vibration.

Guy, the speed to take off is a steam catapult, added to the jet engines, added to ship speed, added to wind speed (into the wind)..

I never knew Iran had F-14s but they do, that's crazy. Great movie, way better than I thought it would be.
yeah, the u.s. sold them to Iran (80 of them I think) in the 1970s when Iran was our friend.
Dont worry about the cost of the Mach10 aircraft, it was going to the scrapyard anyway. The program was shutdown.
