Op my onlangse besoek, was my ervaaring asof ek weer terug was in die 1980s.
Wouldn't it have been smarter to split the land between white and black South Africans at the end of apartheid? So that both form their own independent countries where they can live on their own? Would probably have been a lot safer.
That was what Dr Verwoerd planned: a homeland for each tribe. So that every tribe/ culture can govern themselves and speak their own language. . It was a brilliant plan but the world screamed: Apartheid, No to Apartheid! Today, South Africa is a mess.
@@anna-mariedupreez542 Spot on... Why does the global system allow Orania to exist? Speculation: Destroying Orania would require an unprovoked government military attack, which would be recognised as a genocide and a statement of genocidal intent against European South Africans and Europeans as a whole. The consequences could entail brutal ethnic civil war in South Africa (a refutation of the "rainbow nation"), international economic sanctions and condemnation, mass emigration, significant economic disruption (especially in the region) or even collapse and increasing European ethnocentrism worldwide. An African town with 3000 residents is generally not perceived to be a significant threat to the global system, therefore destroying it would be more trouble than it's worth (at least for now). If the Oranians didn't believe in the long-term viability of their project, they wouldn't be doing it.
@@smoothcritical1 fair enough. Then again, I'm not really "white" and a Zulu is not really "black". Race is a problematic concept. How much "Euopeaness" is required to be "white"? Most of us have West African (i.e. "black") ancestry. That is why I prefer the concept of "culture", because being an Afrikaner is far more than just looking the part.
@@drjacovanniekerk How much "Euopeaness" is required to be "white"? There is no specific percentage. In most cases you can tell by looking at someone. The South African government doesn't seem to think so. "Allowing" Orania to exist is the same as "allowing" every other cultural group to exist. We believe that every people and every culture has a right to exist. Therefore I would argue that we are not "allowed" to exist, but rather that we do exist and will keep on existing whether others accept it or not.
Netjiese antwoord. God sal voorsien.
Ek gaan gereeld Oranja toe en geniet dit baie, ons sien julle weer Desember maand. 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
