Yup would be good to have a conversation . Just not sure about the adjectives.
The people that speak out loudly disproven false evidence by trump . Who go to his " rallies ".
One in a high school gymnasium. Trump invited guests paid money too.
Allegedly he is little short of liquid money. So he needs his small dollar donors to kick up like always.
The Koch political machine is going to fight trump hard. They recognize the need for better candidates. Not the GQANONP/dixiecrats/ trump party. The GOP has to make better choices.
The worst mistake we ever made was letting the republicans back in power in 1952 it's been downhill for America ever since.

This is what political debates SHOULD be like. Also notice that even though Ana and Ben are on the complete opposite ends of the political spectrum they agreed on a lot, just disagreed essentially on how to get to where we need to be. Thats how it truly is but the tribal politics of today doesn't let us see that. Thank you Ana and Ben for putting on a class act debate that was throughly enjoyable to watch. We can only hope the debates coming in '24 can be half as good as this.

      Therefore you need laws

    • @maxking3
      @maxking3 Год назад +2

Hmm. Not sure what you want to say here?!
Collective bargaining in many European countries is a tried and tested process and unions/workers are the most long-term thinking stakeholders. Senior management is with the company how long? A few years, before they pull their golden parachute!?! Shareholders? Most shares are held for seconds, and very few longer than a few months.
Worker representation has a „calming“ effect on otherwise random and erratic management decisions. And in the end - as an economist, you look at two sides of the same coin: Supply-side and demand-side economic policies. In the extreme example of a supply-side economy, entrepreneurs have all the power, pay no taxes and all the burder is on the workers, who have not social net and relatively low wages/income.
That will invariably hurt the demand for whatever you produce, as you quite simply run out of consumers with liquidity to spare. (Let‘s call this „hyper capitalism“)
The other extreme is that worker power is extremely high, wages are far higher than what the productivity allows and they make investment & entrepreneurial spirit a rather futile proposition.
      (Let‘s call this „communism“)
The truth is, that the best way to have solid demand from a broad share of the population and therefore worthwhile opportunities to innovate and provide goods as an entrepreneur, is when both sides are in a stable balance.
I would say that compared to the 70s & 80s, when the US had a strong middle class, the number of billionaires has exploded, the amount of money made through capital investment vs honest work and the number of people on food stamps or living. paycheck to paycheck, indicate that much more demand-side economics and policies are needed to unleash the countries full economic potential:
More consumers with more liquidity to spend.

IF they can't balance their books, they shouldn't have a business. I'm not saying the government should force these businesses to close. That's exerting too much power. But laws should be made to PROTECT the worker. They are making the owner and execs unethical and immoral amounts of money while they are shorted higher wages.

  • @brianmiller1977

While im fiscally conservative, I do think the best way to nurture a thriving economy is employee owned compensation plans within corporate America. Which would signnificantly increase tax revenues for the Gov since those funds are more evenly spread out and not set aside in tax loophole structures for a wealthy few.
If the Gov would offer significant tax incentives to offer a strong profit sharing or employee owned compensation plan, I think that is by far the best way to make a massive impact on the economy.
If a company generates $100M in revenue, instead of 50% of that going to the 10 people on the board, and the remaining 50% being split among 1000 employees, if 80% of those profits was split, people would be able to use that additional income to save for their kids college, remodel or payoff their house, buy a second vacation home, invest it in the financial markets, Venture Cap, buy a new car, etc. People would put that money back into the economy instead of those 10 board members hoarding it in offshore accounts & trusts...

He neglected to address the biggest difference between the Spanish collectively owned company and your typical American corporation. That difference is that the stakeholders in the spanish company also provide labor and thus aren't likely to impose the adverse working conditions or inadequate benefits workers in American companies deal with on themselves. When workers don't have a say in how a company operates, then profit and the interests of shareholders are typically prioritized over worker safety, pay, and other worker considerations. If u have an environment where the government doesn't protect workers' right to bargain and demand those things in exchange for their labor, you allow companies to exploit workers in whatever new creative ways they come up with to do it. Prime example, a company is currently trying to sue striking workers for losses it's suffering as a result of their strike. The losses aren't the fault of the workers. There'd be no strike if worker demands were met. Since they weren't, workers exercised their right to withhold their labor. Now the company is asking the judicial system to assist them in undermining these worker's right to strike and further exploit them by forcing them to subsidize profit.

Many extreme conservatives tend to be reasonable when talking or challenged by someone who is more reasonable. But they quickly return to their extreme rhetoric once back in front of the camera and speaking to their hard line audience. It feels like they are in a race to the bottom because that is where the clicks are. If they were to soften, then much of they're audience would leave them for someone even more extreme.
