Great idea! I have a neighbor who is Japanese American and travels to Japan several times a year. He showed me a set-up he picked up in Japan. You basically place your hook between 2 bobber stops with no knot. This allows the hook to swivel 360 degrees with no line twist. It also allows for infinite leader adjustment without retying. The only downside is you have to use a closed eye sinker just in case big mama pulls the bobber stop down. I just use 4 - 2 above and 2 below the hook. I have never had one pull all the way down.
@@db9818 Most prefer the kind of sinker where you pinch the line in the top. That way if you get the sinker snagged, it will just pull free and you don't lose the whole rig.
I have finally settled on the Gamakatsu G Finesse Shin Fukae swivel drop shot very very easy to rig worth looking at I think Thanks for the info that is a unique set up
I use a 2/0 worm hook for my Texas rig drop shot set up. Using the bent worm hook gives your artificial bait better suspension in the water, making it look like it is swimming to the surface. I have good luck with it in the ponds around my house.
Take a deeper dive into the rest of hiroshis baits. His namazu soft plastic is an absolute sleeper of a bait, it gets destroyed. And his hard baits are some of the highest quality, fine tuned, rigorously tested baits on the market. His jerkbaits are so amazing and his outer weight makes them adjustable from a floater to a countdown bait and everything in between. His erie 115tw is a killer topwater, so lifelike birds will try and grab it lol. Both his Jigs are unreal as well. Can't say enough good things about nishine lure works, I fish his baits almost exclusively.
I’m so glad to see you’ve found Hiroshi Nishine… I have several of his baits and he will be coming out with additional sizes for his drop shot hook. Best Success on the Potomac 🍀🎣🍀💯
All of hiroshis baits are amazing. I fish his stuff almost exclusively. When brook Trout eat a full size 115 jerkbait you know the action is on point, they usually never hit anything that big.
@@MadMaxx89 I hear you about Hiroshi’s baits, he is meticulous and so talented. I’m surprised that you have caught brookies on his 115 jerkbait🤷🏻♂️ and you’re right about it’s action👊
That hook is legit, I got a few packs when they first dropped...the price is also reasonable. The funny thing about the hook is that it was hiding in plain sight for decades, all they did was take a small light wire jig mold hook and snailed it...GENIUS!!
I actually use the Standout Dropshot hook, the design of the hook helps with having the hook stick straight out and not looking like a traditional hook that bows down in the water with the soft plastic as the eyelet is on the bottom of the hook to keep the tag line being threaded through the eyelet, plus it comes in 2 colors of Red and black nickel, check it out Matt, let me know what you think
What I've done is take jig hooks and heat the eye a little then using my needle nose pliers turn that eye slowly to bend sideways. Saves alot of money. Thank me later no worries my fellow fisher men and women 🤙🏽 tightlines everyone. Matt you're the man never stop doing what you do because you motivate guys like myself. Always thinking outside the box keeps fishing fun and interesting. God bless to you and your family bro happy for you success in the fishing world🎣🫡
You can snell knot a normal drop shot hook as well... just put the tag end back through the hook eye when your done like you would a Palomar knot and make sure it's straight and it will work...
Awesome idea, thanks for sharing! Do you feel the size 2 is too large for any of the smaller/thinner DS baits like roboworms? I noticed it’s the only size option for now.
This should really help getting the fish in the boat instead of breaking the knots. Or re tying all the time. Will have to give some of those a try. You are rapidly reaching the 50,000 subscriber mark! Congratulations!
Matt, I have a question; This year I am finally catching fish on Whopper Ploppers. The thing is, I am catching the fish prior to the bait getting back to the surface right after casting. I was wondering, maybe, I should switch to a shallow diving jerk bait? To give myself more time in the strike zone. This year the weeds are already up to 6" to 8" from the surface. My square bills and crank baits are getting hung up right away. Got any advice?
I’m trying but can’t tie the knot when I can’t see what you’re doing… Any chance you could demonstrate with para cord or something that I can actually see? Thanks for the DS tips and keep them coming!
Drop shotting in Florida is difficult with a hook that’s not weedless . I pretty much fish 95 percent of the time in Florida . I use the palomer knot . There is this cool looking Knot online everyone is trying , that looks perfect for a drop shot ! But only 1 problem ! It’s a very weak knot ! You can literally break it by hand so easily!
I have used that knot for a couple of years. It is a weak knot but that hook stands out perfect. Use 10lb test or higher test line and retie often. The knot makes your bait sit perfect and is worth it in my opinion. The knot can be tied in seconds.
Matt, stop tying the Palomar with the weight tag going through the hook eye. Learn the blood knot version when tying the hook in line. It’s out there on the internet.
OK, let me get this straight. You say a drop shot is a pain in the ass...but you're adding a snell knot to it. I can't begin to dissect that reasoning. 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve whacked multiple species fresh n salt drop shot multiple species multiple fish light tackle it’s the strongest leader to hook there is from 8x to infinity
I use a Gamakastu 1/0 and use a T knot for the hook. 30lb Seagar braid and 17lb fluorocarbon leader then the weight. GLumis Rod medium heavy. This is my bass rig. Another amazing product. Thank you.
Its a great hook! Thanks for making it!
Snell knot is a must with a drop shot rig. You are exactly right.
Thanks for watching
Using a snell knot is a really cool idea. I've seen a hundred tricks on how to keep your hook level on a drop shot. This looks like the best method.
its the best i have found

Would that hook be good for weedless rigging baits🤔 on your dropshot?

Awesome! thanks for the support!

I have some Decoy jig 53f made for hover strolling and they look very similar to this Nishine hook. Thanks for the heads up! 👍🏼
go for it

I only use the drop shot hooks with a swivel: trokar helix, VMC spin shot, etc.
I have some spin-shots; do you think they're good for finessier presentations, or more for faster powershotting?
stick with what you have confidence in
