Nice video. I am surprised you don't need a stinger hook on it though. Each time I jigged the D I needed the stinger.

what drop shot knot are you using, not a palomar with the tag end back through the eye to the weight

Are you controlling the drift like jigging or spot locked Jon?

Would this set up with the 3/8ths weight work in the stronger current of StClair river? Or would I have to bump the weight up ?Thanks.

I can’t answer for him, but I believe you adjust your boat speed in order to keep your line vertical.

Can’t go wrong with 5/8s to one ounce weight from 15’to 50’. Three hooks in Michigan waters 😃😃. Nice video Jon. Love your plastics 🎣🎣🐟🐟😃

Yes because there is nothing attached to the weight like buoyant plastic is where on a jig so you don’t need as much.

Are dropshots legal in Detroit? They’re not allowed in any other river in Michigan?
Edit- they are allowed on Great Lakes connected water ways, but not rivers. With boats a connected waterway has to be 2.5 miles wide. Not sure if that’s the same for fishing rules. Seems like it would be. So most rivers connected to a Great Lake are not “connected waterways”. Detroit isn’t 2.5 wide, but maybe has special status with all the international shipping?
