I waited outside of the Alternative Record Store on Nebraska Ave in Tampa before the store opened and bought the first copy of Joy Division Substance they had. The owner opened the box of albums that was shipped in front of me. I had just turned 18.
I remember seeing this when it first was shown, as up to that point, Factory didn't exactly have a lot of T.V time. Totally agree with the much missed Gretton regarding the 'Atmosphere' Video.
Anyone remember an article on one of these types of UK music shows from the mid to late 80's about a group of ex fanatical Joy Division fans that had turned to Christianity? Showed them attempting to convert members of the Hacienda queue among other things. Haven't seen it since it was originally shown.
It was about celebrating what they got. Not to achieve to but to just say this what we got and we are going to offer something to you like it or not. They created time and spaces that they were not even aware of its up to us to believe in it and admire the beautiful aspects of the whole story.
The music business is full of hustlers with record labels, artistes, managers, promoters, venues and producers all claiming they were the ones who were ripped off rather than actually doing the ripping off. Have you ever heard the saying about if you swim with sharks.
I gotta say in this interview all 3 remaining members sound quite cold about Ian's death although it's probably their way of dealing..by laughing about it. ...
Out of Rob Gretton and Martin Hannet which was the record producer and which was the manager? Also, Ian’s eyes in that live performance (transmission and she’s lost control) look like he’s nodding on heroin, although I know he probably wasn’t. Wasn’t he on some medication that caused this?

Cool memory thanks for sharing, I’m also from Tampa. Is that record store still in business?
@@Nick_Paradise_Real No, the Alternative Record Store on Nebraska Ave closed long ago.

Blimey, Alan Erasmus answering questions on film. Don’t see that very often.
david roberts considering his reputation I am surprised
Bloody loved Rob. Absolute scoundrel. ☺️ What a legacy these lunatics created - from total chaos and a little talent. 😉

Just before it all exploded again with the mondays, Seconds out, round 2.
Good vid but ends too soon. Clearly an edit of the original vid.
Youth inspired choas and enthusiasm?

Medication for epilepsy
Rob was the manager
@@jamesgibson2063 Pretty sure Ian had that look even before he started on the meds. He just had a naturally glassy stare and big wide eyes.
