One of the best interviews they have ever done on TV. Great to see them in a Happy mood for a change. They really know how to wind up a journalist. They wouldn't ever want to be like another U2..
Never cared much about JD, I am more of a electronica New Order fan of the late 80s and beginning 90s :)... I also like MUSIC COMPLETE so I don't miss Hook that much. Yes, it would be a bit different with Hook, maybe even a bit better, but it is not that I don't like MUSIC COMPLETE :). Gilian does for example a great job back again :)...
This feels like watching tapes of your parents. they look so young! Stephen even has the mannerisms of a teenager. then again he does still have them now.
Kathleen Robertson he went through a stage of dressing and looking like a 90s teenager between 89-95 so looked 15 years younger. he always looked about 10 years younger . until now
These guys were 3/4 of Joy Division. It's their right do rerelease Joy Division material as they please. Other bands can re-release their old library but these guys can't? Come on. What would Joy Division be without the music? It's still their composition.
I hate how the interviewer is pressing for JD questions, asking them about problems people have or if it’s exploitative of Ian; Lmfao what? Kudos to them for staying composed and answering anyway.
@@gazriley624 no worries mate...I've met Peter a number of times myself.. glad he's doing well these days with all the touring he does..it's a real shame they fell out tbh
Before recording Technique peter hook and Sumner spent 2 months in Ibiza being coked up and doing ecstacy for the 1st time. They'd always been high their entire career but those 2 months it escalated.
@@KarlHamilton my source was Peter Hooks book SUBSTANCE which came out s couple of years ago. Hook said he 1st tried E in Ibiza and it was only 2 months to record Technique of which Barney and Hooky wasted their entire time in clubs.
@@midnightmachinist8739 You'll find that the majority of Technique was recorded when they got back to Manchester. The two year period in Ibiza was just a massive holiday. Steve got some drums recorded though.
No chance. Maybe Valium. (If they were pilling they'd all be flying around the room; putting some music on. It's impossible to sit patiently in a silent room when you're pilling - you're too busy exploding with happiness.)
That was a huge selling placement in the early 80s. You have to remember that they would be going up against huge sellers like Adam and the Ants, Wham! , The Police, Level 42. These bands were huge sellers. It's not like now where anything outside the top 5 is meaningless.
brilliant fuckin outfit end of period... simple as.... say what u want but this band is the bomb.... and also from the northwest which is a double bonus... live act quality
New Order on top form, which they were at the time musically too with the brilliant Technique.
That bongo guy.
Sad

@@daveyhando9536 no bono is a false messiah
New Order was Joy Division, so they can do whatever they want with that music. On a side note, New Order isn’t the same without Peter Hook.
FACt

Agree 100 Percent.
Cuz it's not a proper NO interview til there's some random cuts of Stephen trying to work out how to react to the camera
C'mon Bernard, wake up! haha he always looks and sounds like he was just sleeping
Usually because he's stoned out of his mind haha
He’s off his face on god knows what 😂
He was also an insomniac for a good few years.
@SgtBaker16

They never show the camera on Gillian's face
Just giggling. 🤗

Smart and beautiful..Bernard!
Definitely smart!!
Gorge 😊
I like when Bernard calls Bono from U2 “Bungo”. Bono is annoying and pretentious.
barney was so nice lookin damn
He looks like he's 14 on this video, doesn't he!? I look at his older pics (in JD) and he looked much older but here he looks like a kid.
Kathleen Robertson he went through a stage of dressing and looking like a 90s teenager between 89-95 so looked 15 years younger. he always looked about 10 years younger . until now
its that trademark haircut :)
"was"? So he isn't now? How rude.
@@BayviewFinch no, too fat.
Greatest band at this time. Technique was genius
it was ok not their best

he looks like michael from life with louie, yeah he's cute

5:19 Stephen again
But where is Gilian?
"... a band of their statue."
i hope these guys make it so they can move out of that college dorm
technique, great title, great album.
Their best. IMO.
Blueprint for that Stone Roses interview, Ian and John Squire when they were stoned... Love from Australia, wonderful band and people I suspect.
It’s very subtle but you can see the power dynamic there between Bernard and hooky
I used to have the same hair as sumner...high lights and high and tight fade sides and back...
I used to have the same as hook...mainly cause i couldn't be arsed
I've got that hair right now!
Always had my hair like that minus the gay highlights although I’m tempted now I’m getting older 😂

seen Hooky in Liverpool the other day
That's where his management are

Steven Morris looks on something, bernard can't sit still
Well, they have all said how much they enjoyed drugs during this era, so I should imagine your observations on jah money!
They are on nothing except life itself.

Can Barney stop moving everywhere? So distracting 😂😂😂
No, why should he?
You won't leave him alone, I guess 👀
Shellshock
It was recorded in 1989, so if anyone can get him to stop moving now, that'd be surreal & wondrous!
;-)
He’s adorable let him do what he wants
It just occurred to me Steven Morris looks and acts a bit like Steven Morrissey.
Bernards nervous twitch hahaaa
Barney def on pills here. In fact they're probably all on pills here!

This was the height of the Madchester ecstasy explosion period, so no doubt they were at some stage of a comedown!
Blue Monday wasn't high in the charts as Hook says, it got to no. 12 and 9.
