I met Stephen and Gillian one evening at Euston station with my then girlfriend around the mid to late 90s. They were both so welcoming and friendly - just a lovely couple. I'll never forget it 😊
I had a brush with Stephen in 1989 at a backstage. I was shocked that here he was, the human drum machine himself. He was standing leaning on the wall as if he was a starstruck fan himself while Bernard Sumner was dancing quite unrythmically with some groupie. I said hi to him and I was shocked that he was very nice and a bit shy. I asked him where Hooky was and he pointed to him. He was such a nice guy.
Sam Wulfekotter I am so in love of them! I'm 43 and had no clue that they were together. I grew up listening to joy division and new order. I admit I'm not a social media kinda person but i happened upon this.
@@monkeylegs4033 Really? They became a couple in about 1978 and there was the unique occasion when Gillian played guitar with Joy Division as Ian had cut his hand on a broken astray not long before they were due on-stage. They've been married a long time and have children together.
love them both so much. Ace video, thank you. The irony is that Steve, Gillian, Hooky, Bernard, Rob all seem to be the least pretentious people who were packaged into some high art situationist concept. Not a negative though, just a beautiful collision. The thing I find funny is the contrast to Creation, sometimes the polar opposite of Factory.
Non Stop Erotic Cabaret is the red light district concept album. a must have for any 80s collection. And Kate? Well Kate is kate. NOBODY compares to Kate .
Actually, I read somewhere that they were recording I think games without frontiers when they went in to show the fairlight. They were together and then both bought it.
'... could be these glasses ...' lol. He looks like a typical old British geezer. Joy Division and New Order would have been nothing without Stephen Morris
Kate Bush was from a middle class background, she worked from the age of 16, going round pubs with her band. Her parents weren't rich. Her old family home is in a bit of a deprived area.
PixieRoblox Her father was a doctor so they weren’t poor. And East Wickham farm was a beautiful place to grow up. Kate spent a number of years “growing up” - staying in a flat ( in between flats that her brothers lived) in and yeah, did some gigs before Wuthering Heights was a released. It wasn’t like she was working in John Menzies or Burger King!
I used to really like New order but after say around the perfect kiss i kind of lost interest in them and thought that they were just doing the same stuff!
Perfect Kiss is probably peak New Order sound, I’ll give you that, in terms of them being unique in the market (esp that 10 min live video version)... but their best tracks were probably still to come, Vanishing Point, Dream Attack etc... but by then others had the same tech after they’d already done the R&D on it so maybe less distinctive I guess

New Order members being Kate Bush fans makes my heart super happy. She's incredible.
I’d forgotten how brilliant Soft Cell’s Bedsitter is. Pop used to be so good, so resonant.
Bed sitter was the single which converted me to be a soft cell fan
BEDSITTER IS SUBLIME
The whole Bedsitter 12” including Facility Girls was just sublime.
2 of the most down to earth musicians. Easy going. The type of people who would be there for anyone who needed help with anything.
I love these guys they are such a nice couple.
Kate Bush is the best. Nothing can comapre.
The GOAT
When voices were allowed to be natural and full of character.Songs were jaw-droppingly magnificent.
I could watch just those two watching hours and hours of 80s music videos

Kate bush is my pixie, please dont anyone touch her, she s my precious
Such a cool couple; evidently a relationship where they're so comfortable around each other.
theyre like the cool aunt and uncle that you like more than your parents
I love her laugh!
Soft cell a good band
See this is why Morris needs a tank. Fight the zombies.
LOL heard about the tanks. i have yet to watch that video.
New Order had several Voyetra synths which, while nor on the same level as the Fairlight, were not cheap either.
New Order didn`t use Fairlight but they had first Emulator, which was very expensive too.

@3:05 MARK'S A GREAT PERFORMER
Were they guest VJs? Is this an excerpt from a longer show? I'd like to watch the whole thing.
Me too.
Glorious - superb x
The album "The Dreaming" was weird, and you had to listen to it numerous times. It was not as easily accessible until you became use to it.
Wonderful! thanks.
Kate Bush is at least 100 years ahead of her time. She may turn out to be the greatest 20th century musician of all time.
No matter how evolved I get, I'm always way behind Kate. Love The Dreaming- single and album.
Where an we see the full programme?
Marc almond reminds me of polystyrene from x-ray specs lol x
Who said love is fleeting? Bless them.
It was Peter Gabriel who introduced Kate Bush to the Fairlight.
Peter Gabriel the legend
Are you sure it wasn't David Gilmour ?
Actually, I read somewhere that they were recording I think games without frontiers when they went in to show the fairlight. They were together and then both bought it.
Stephen is sitting in Sheldon's seat.
Kate Bush and Soft Cell freaked me out as a kid when my parents played them. Add Frank Zappa to the list and you have the Trinity of Creepy Music
Thank you for respecting the original 50Hz presentation of the video.
ppl had bigger personalities back then
'... could be these glasses ...' lol. He looks like a typical old British geezer. Joy Division and New Order would have been nothing without Stephen Morris
He looks a bit like Bricktop.
Reminiscing and wish I was back in my 20 year young body 😭
I quite liked Tasty Fish. But New Order invented electronic pub rock.
And Marc Almond is now an OBE!
When you see soft cell, pet shop boys, etc all copying the original lead singer and po faced keyboard player. The Sparks!!
I love this

GILLIAN IS RIGHT IT IS MAGIC @0:38
Soft cell this tracks good
Is this part of some doc?
It was a show called 'Synth Beyond with Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert' and aired on Bbc4.
The cheese made me do it.
The world's oldest refrain.
Exelente
🖤
at 7.58 is steve wearing a hearing aid ?
At 00:00 is he wearing glasses?
So thick accent YT refuses to transcript.

@@richarddeboer4582 thanks
Can you upload the whole thing please?
@@KarlHamilton yeah please! this is fucking awesome
I thought that over time I'd come to see Marc Almond as less pretentious. So far still waiting.
Lol at the Fairlight comment. "We were just a poor band from a poor family". Had no idea it was so expensive. Kate Bush was very privileged.
No, she used the money she earned from the sales of her first two albums and tour, nothing to do with privilege.
Don’t you dare disparage Kate Bush.
you misunderstand privilege with talent..

Cool story, guy
Sure Jan
Yeah, same. But still LOVE the earlier stuff. Let’s face it, most bands jump the shark at some point.
Er, if you didn’t bother listening to Technique, you missed out big time.
