I just love the way they talk to each other. They've been together for decades yet their banter sounds so fresh. It's like they are still so interested in each other's stuff. I've also heard from people who have met them that they are really very nice people. Lovely.
So many people out there don't know how influential both of his bands were to modern music. New Order was so ahead of its time, its ridiculous. Most of their songs sound like they could've been released last year. And Joy Division. They're the reason I started making music.
The only album I heard by Joy Division is there second and final album "Closer". That album is so amazing I Purposely haven't played there first album or any of New Order albums. I did get into Igggy Pop bcuz of Joy Division but that's uh topic for another time & place peace.
mmm My response to the first stuff was okay, vaguely decent pop then she went really crap. Nothing was surprising about it when you grew up with Spike Milligan and Python and stuff.
Her music is standard poppy synth and tbh her weirdness seems contrived, I much prefer St Vincent's music if we are going for synthy modern female stuff, and she's proper kooky not all this meat dress rubbish.
Wow! This was lovely! Take Bernard and Peter out of the picture and the dickhead mentality drops hundred fold. Stephen and Gillian's beautiful and immense loving personalities shine through. Great episode! Great couple! Love these two, sooo cute.
Trevor Wilson no shit eh? met peter backstage at the SAT in mtl years ago and he was such a twat. contrast that with james murphy who i hung with the night before (after a much bigger show) and he remembered me from a PHONE interview i'd done with him for a tiny magazine two years prior.
Imagine both your parents being literal rock stars? How cool! I wonder if they made their kids listen to all their music. Also I bet their kids have great taste in music
For the very first time I really felt I could see them. I appreciate this video so much. It’s like I actually met them after following them for most of my life.
Dat Marquee Moon and them both saying it was their favorite album at one point, Dat Gorillaz, dat absolutely ridiculous shit that Steve picked, dat Jesus and Mary Chain DVD, at the glorious time in that band's lineup when Bobby Gillespie was on drums. One of the best What's in My Bag's I've ever seen.
Nothing sums up how insanely diverse human critters are as people as the fact that these two were omnipresent on billboard and MTV at the same time G'N'R was. Variety is the spice of life!
Amoeba is my favorite record store! I try to get to Hollywood from the Valley as often as possible to shop there, and at Ametron. Imagine shopping there, looking over, and seeing them locally! Since New Order rarely has any information on their sleeves, they seem to have this aura of secrecy, and I envision them always at home in England, and here they are, 12 miles from my house! I wish I'd have known they would be there.
These are two amazing people & I would love to have them around for tea. I still think of Gillian in her Goth phase & Stevens energetic metronomic drumming , wonderful musicians.
♥️Gillian Gilbert&Stephen Morris lovely couple, lovely people, amazing human beings and amazing artists!Thank you for your sweetness and kindness!I LOVE YOU!❤️ 🌈🌟🌹🌈🌟🌹
What a lovely couple. Some real music history there, kids. Wish I could say that New Order has remained relevant through the years but a nice couple of folks nonetheless.
The Void New Order will always be relevant. They continue to be an influence for new bands to this day. It's amazing that the same group of people were in Joy Division too as they are one of the most influential bands of all time.
fuzzylogiceire I agree. That was kinda my point. I guess my comment wasn't really worded properly. I basically meant it's a shame that New Order over the past 20 years or so doesn't carry the weight that Joy Division does even 35 years after Ian Curtis's death. Dear God, has it really been that long?? Cheers-
Relevance - The quality of their output over the time they were together (relevance #1) and what of the group's output was so stellar that it is still played and remembered (relevance #2). They failed more on #1 (becoming more and more formulaic) than on #2 (playing their top 5 songs to a stranger)
Had to laugh at Lekkerman’s of Macclesfield getting a mention. My brother and I had to be dragged there every August to have new school uniform bought for us. I also had a pair of dark blue jeans from there that were untreated (no stone washing) . They were like stiff cardboard and remained that way no matter how often they were worn or washed. Suffering for fashion in the 70s!!
Joy Division and New order' s drummer .....man, this guy is the most humble and cool musician on planet earth.
There's a humble & cool musician sat next to him too.
It makes me happy that they are still together after all these years.
wish peter hook was still in the band
@@rileyschmedeman652 yeah, sucks that hooky and peter were so distasteful of each other :(
Absolutely, just a wonderful & humble & proven talented couple.
@@rileyschmedeman652 Still good, but correct - not the same without the Hook.
Aus80sRockRadio hey i mean they dropped a fire single last week so there’s that
I just love the way they talk to each other. They've been together for decades yet their banter sounds so fresh. It's like they are still so interested in each other's stuff. I've also heard from people who have met them that they are really very nice people. Lovely.
What nice down to earth people. Good luck to them both. Stephen Morris = drum machine.
Stephen and Gillian are my favorite members of New Order and I'm so glad they're together Still and so youthful and just so wonderful!

@@elismith8356 Why would you deprive yourself of so much amazing music? Insane
Good for you
@@elismith8356Why.......
You are missing out not playing No's music. Take the gift.
They're so cute together :)
They're married and bandmates
James Chou yeah I know bruv that's goals
Fucking hell mate, it really is.
So refreshing to see how down to earth they are, how lovely! Gillian and Stephen are legends
One of the best and more solid couples in history of modern rock. Not common but this show us that it is possible.
So happy for both of them. They deserve each other
Don't say it out loud! When I said that out loud about Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, they divorced a few months later, and Sonic Youth was no more!
Stephen looks like he's in his 20's and wearing middle-aged man makeup
Thats one fucked up compliment
Not really.
"Joy Division did a gig". :..(
Long live Joy Division
@@oostenmusic Amen.
"ooo bloody 'ell that's different"
This pretty much sums up how Britain responded to Lady Gaga.

lol

Don't give Simon Cowell any ideas
absolutely :)
Love you Stephen Morris & Gillian Gilbert!!

Definitely! It sucks that Hooky and Bernard don't get along any more. But The Other Two (see what I did there)? They are such a charming duo.
@@eat_pray_porg8450 I got wot you did there. In fact I was even thinking about The Other Two before I scrolled down to your comment.
Stephen and Gillian are the greatest! I still think Stephen deserves more credit for his amazing drumming.
Jeez, they're adorable...
Stephen Morris = A living legend
They've been together for years and it's still like watching a first date. Morris is so charming
I love how he looks at her the whole time, whereas other bands look at the camera
I want a relationship like this
New Order is one of the absolute best bands ever. Seriously. No one was doing what these people were doing, at that time.
What a fun couple!
Joy Division & New Order both epic.
how adorable are they!
What a couple of sweeties. Love 'em.
gillian yaay and stephen morris aka the human metronome my fav drummer.
I really like the guys who are dancing behind Desmond Dekker on the little clip that they show.
Love Steve and Gillian so much. Why can't they host their own talk show?
Or start a podcast
couple goals at so many levels
Nice to hear a little Ian Curtis story like that
Imagine both your parents being literal rock stars? How cool! I wonder if they made their kids listen to all their music. Also I bet their kids have great taste in music
When he said "I've never seen a book by him on sell since in a shop-" I got chills. That must've felt so healing to him.
For the very first time I really felt I could see them. I appreciate this video so much. It’s like I actually met them after following them for most of my life.
2:26 the way he looks at her, ohhh I wish them all the best, Love from Warsaw :))
Can these two host a podcast or something? This is just so wholesome
their relationship is lovely
jesus and mary chain!!!!! best band ever, seriously... great selection that one is. thanks kindly amoeba, appreciate these videos.
I'd totally forgotten Bobby Gillespie used to play the drum standing up.
The Other Two , and their shopping !
they have such good taste in music it's no wonder why New Order is so Great , ,
"what have you got?"
"lady gaga"
" *OH* bloody hell that's different!"
I love how just randomly venetian snares is brought up by one of my favorite bands ever lol
Goddamn IT.
Stephen and Gillian you are such Beautiful and Wonderful people.
You both make me so HOPEFUL for LOVE!
Would love to hang out with them for a day.
Steven Morris is the drum master no one is better in all genre's of music
You couldn't really imagine Bernard and Hook doing this, could you ? ;-)
We did get a different interview with Hook back in 2011: www.amoeba.com/live-shows/detail-1996#cat-most_recent_shows/
soepil hooky would probably smash a record over his head
I can see Bernard doing one solo but not with Peter and Peter not ever bothering.
Hooky would probably do it
@Daniel LMFAO
They're just beautiful together...love it
Sweet people.
I can see that I would be totally comfortable hanging out with these too. They make a lovely couple.
Loveliest couple to exist. I wish I were friends with them.
I want to LOVE SOMEONE as MUCH as GILLIAN AND STEPHEN LOVE EACH OTHER!
i really enjoyed this, i'm playing it again
They are so cool!
Very insightful look into music legends who continue to move forward.
I have to remember to pass this video on to my wife. She's a big fan of the 80's New Wave/Synth Pop era.
They are adorable #couplesgoals right there
such nice people and SO british!
Chandler Crane No they are very Northern. You don't get lovely people like that in the South generally, they are all rush and push and cold/anodyne.
What a lovely couple.

+smshah232 What does 'dat' mean?
+spats67 It's an old tape format: DAT-Tape ...
@@spats67- "Dat" is from African American Vernacular English (AAVE), sometimes known as "Ebonics" (from Black culture magazine "Ebony").
I actually didn't know that Gillespie was in JMC until I watched it in this video! I only know about his time with Primal Scream.
Lots of very late nights cranking new order. Love you guys
They're so hip! Love em'.
I just enjoy their conversations
love the way they talk lol
Awesome! Would never have known otherwise that New Order listened to the Jesus and Mary Chain!
They've been in the same circles and Bobby Gillespie even "borrowed" Hooky's bass at a gig once. I know JAMC loved Joy Division.
Television tee shirt yes!
They are two great people. fame never changed them. X

The JAMC yes thanks mates.

Vinyl has made a huge comeback! It just sounds really great on a decent turntable and home stereo system with full-range speakers!

- I wonder if it's a cover version
LOL

The letter font at the end. Wow! That can only have been made by Pablo Ferro.....famous for the title design of Stanley Kubricks Dr Strangelove!
Hugh Nique You have a good eye.
I guess its more the distinctive way Pablo Ferro draws the letters makes obvious who made it :)
Someone please give these lovely people their own show, or at least a spot on Gogglebox!
They're so cute!
they're awesome, period.
Except when Gillian got obssessed with shit teenage stuff like Lady Gaga or Lana Del Rey :>
