Back to the Future is famous for a lot of things, but so many people seem to forget that most of the movie was shot in one continuous take, with the camera moving so quickly at times that it seems like there are cuts! Truly incredible.
This is an audio commentary ONLY. It is meant to be watched along with the movie so you can raise or lower the volume on the commentary or the movie itself as you wish.
#backtothefuture #onetake #ripericstoltz
The classic one take shot
Yayyyyy time to watch all the commentaries to the greatest trilogy by the greatest commentary channel.
Looks like we needed the delorean to complete the trilogy
Great minds and all that.
Have they watched the goonies?
You’re in luck because they just uploaded BTTF 3 after like four years of them watching BTTF 2
@@michelg3811 Fairly sure he knew before rewatching. Which would be the point of him rewatching this exact video...
Jokes aside, even with the cuts, the camera work in this film is often overlooked, it's actually really great
What cuts?
Everything constantly looks like it’s there for a reason. Every detail in the background and foreground just ooze intention and vision
Imagine if Marty filmed this movie .
Jokes aside, even with the gaslighting, the concept of this channel is amusing and entertaining and well-executed
What joke
>5 cuts in a row
"THERE ARE NO CUTS"
That one take is absolutely insane holy shit
Right???
Movie magic, man. Crazy stuff
It was like goodfellas before goodfellas
@@PrettyMuchIt Can you guys please add actual closed captions to your future videos, rather than the auto-generated closed captions? *PLEEEEEEASE?*
Fun fact:
If you look closely you can see that the entire movie is actually a one-take. Every “cut” is actually just really good camera trickery.
The old person makeup is so good when I was a kid I thought they somehow found older actors that looked and sounded exactly like the younger cast
I thought all the biffs where just the 1 actors whole family
Yes!! Only when I rewatchef when I was older I realized that old and young George are both played by Crispin Glover xD
@@maurice8180 And another actor.
Why are we all seeing this now? I know I'm not the only one who binged PMI during quarantine
i think eric unlisted or unprivated in celebration of 10 years
Yeah cause I have looked through his vids and I've never seen these
Bro time travel cmon he went back and uploaded this
They came out with the third one
RUclips algorithm works in _MYSTEEEEERIOUS_ ways.....
(so it must be god, lol)
I love when Eric just lies about things for no reason lmao
I can never tell when he's lying or not haha it's a bit stressful
That one take is incredible
Seeing the way this is edited compared to newer commentary tracks is so impressive because of the amount of effort and thought Eric puts into his videos now and I’m so thankful to him for it.
🥰
It was one long take
The reason why Marty is friends with Doc is because of Marty’s friend Needles. Both him and Marty broke into Doc’s lab and after Doc caught them, Needles fled and Marty stayed. Doc was a social outcast (because crazy scientist and all), but Marty thought he was cool. So that’s how they became friends.
Is that explained somewhere or is this your head canon?
source for this made-up story please
@@Tionsity Long story short, it was part of a comic run called either “Hard Time” or “Time Served” (it’s been a while since I read the story, but I think it was IDW that published it). To sum it up, they kinda explain that everything that happens in the comics is more or less a “continuation” of the cartoon series, which itself is either a continuation of the movies or another timeline (yes, it’s technically possible). Damn, this took WAY too long to explain.
@@binghamguevara6814 Look to the response I gave to @Tionsity.
@@Tionsity And Bob Gale (co-writer and producer of the trilogy) said the exact same thing. The only difference is that in the comic, Needles convinced Marty to break into Doc’s lab, but Gale said that Marty did it himself.
Fun fact: Martin Scorsese was so impressed by the opening single shot in this film that he included the famous, though inferior, single tracking shot in the Goodfellas club scene as a homage.
I knew I wasnt the only one who noticed this. that scene was done incredibly well.
"Eric Stoltz killed himself on the set, famously. It was one long take."
Erik making old videos public again? Hell froze over
PMI 4 Years ago: “Doc & Marty’s relationship are like cartoon characters”
Rick & Morty Creators: 👀
Rick and morty is more of a doctor who parody in the end
@@TheArmoredArtichoke I thought I read or seen something saying they were inspired by back to the future and inspired by doc brown and Marty Mccfly
@@YRTLOPEZ the original Rick and Morty video was the Doc and Marty if I recall. I think it may be on RUclips.
@@ilyMiickeyBee facts seen that too
in the actual track, mike mentions rick and morty directly after saying that
The cuts in that one shot were brilliant
Love how the "one take" was totally a joke but people in the comments are in full support and praise
of how amazing the one shot take was 🤣🤣🤣
Wow, it's nice to hear Eric talk with the same passion for this movie that I have.
"And that's how he got Parkinson's"
I literally cried with laughter😂😂😭
How is this channel not more popular. Been binge watching these commentary videos and love them all
“Camera tricks to make it look like there are cuts” lol
WAIT WHY IS THIS IN MY RECOMMENDED NOW? I JUST REALIZED THIS VIDEO IS 4 YEARS OLD
snoogans!
Made public
Fun fact: That dissolve into fire effect? That was also one take! Because it´s actually a real time machine and they went back in time to finish the film on schedule!
I get what Eric was saying in the commentary. I miss seeing original movies where you know you're watching something great.
This is my favorite movie, so well made and the continuty and attention to detail is breathtakingly perfect.
Lea Thompson is beautiful, but her daughter, Zoey Deutch, is drop-dead gorgeous!
Holy shit. I'm so thankful for this comment.
@@williamshelton4318 you're probably perfect
@@williamshelton4318 because you are saying that these 2 really beautiful women have a big forehead and that just seems unnecessary... 🤔 No one's perfect after all 🤷♀️
So glad a bunch of these old videos got unprivated again! Hopefully one day we can have it all back 😭
Parts 1-3 were on television in the Netherlands this evening, watched them all back to back! Great evening :D
fun fact: this whole movie is just one long take! no cuts
GASP
It's back!
Lol, if the speaker's volume was powerful enough to send Marty back, it was definitely strong enough to burst his eardrums permanently, rendering him totally deaf.
I never noticed the mini toy doc on the clock in the beginning
this is a franchise that makes no sense but is adored and charming
im so happy you published this again (for now, at least)!
Glad you send that. I thought I was the only one who thought Michael j fox was the only one in his 20s on set
I'VE BEEN WATCHING PMI FOR LIKE TWO YEARS HOW COME I JUST FOUND OUT THESE EXISTED?????!!!
Eric just unlisted the videos!
@@DanielTheTEMP thank you! I knew they weren't on the channel before!
I always read that they recast Eric stoltz because they thought he was too serious as Marty. But I love your explanation way better so thats what I'm gonna start telling people. Shout you to Michael j fox for working 20 hour days on both this and family ties at the time
This is the type of movie for me where I watch it in bits and pieces. Like I know the general premise of it, but I've never actually seen the whole movie in one sitting, lol.
Not only does Ghost Rider do the flaming tires thing too, but he did it almost a decade before Back to the Future came out.
I never knew these till part 3
I really thought I watched all the commentaries until both the newest and this one got recommended to me. Thank the heavens!
me too!
still blows my mind the opening scene is a one-take ⁉️💯
crazy !
"So this is Doc Brown, he is like a crazy inventor."
"So he is the villain?"
"What? No! He is not the villain! Anyway, Doc built a time machine that runs on plutonium in his garage and..."
"He built a nuclear reactor in his garage and he is not the villain?"
"No! So, he wants to test his time machine on his dog..."
"That's animal cruelty."
"And he calls an underaged boy to meet him at an abandoned parking lot in the middle of the night, so he can film it."
"....And you are sure he is not the villain?""
"For the last time! Doc Brown is not - I repeat - NOT the villain of this movie!!!"
"Okay, okay! What happens then?"
"Well, then it turns out that Doc build a bomb for some terrorists and.... Okay, now I hear it, too."
@Dyke Elephant He was also in the ending of the movie when he removed the bullet vest
@Dyke Elephant Neither Doc is fake.
Look I’m gonna need you to get all the way off my back about Doc Brown being the villain
@@PrimeTime_Pictures Hey! He gave the Libyans used pinball machine parts! He would never make a bomb! But the other stuff? Yeah absolutely...
@@alexisd6106 Just wondering what I commented about? It’s been so long lol
Chitty chitty bang bang has one of those breakfast machine scenes!!
As someone who loves classic cars/unique cars in general, I can assure you BTTF did not ruin the DeLorean. If anything the films saved it and made it iconic. Before the movies, DeLoreans were just shit cars.
was this video hidden for others? this is the first time I've seen it and a few more vids on the channel
When I first found the channel they were still up then they disappeared for a while
Yesss. I've binged all the videos recently and didnt see these until I searched them up because the 3rd commentary came out
@@amberparrot think they unlisted the majority of vids when the old crew left. Jake and the other dude from part 3 were apart of the old pretty much it
Love the one long take especially the speed of the camera when the robotic arm dumped Einstein's dog food.
"Erik Stoltz killed himself onset....famously. ...it was one take"
Not only is that a solid fucking callback, but giving it more thought, it could *only* have been one take.
This is perfect, bless you eric ❤
Chitty chitty bang bang had the machines doing everything in the house too
Eric you cheeky bastard lol
About the flaming tire tracks, I believe the only other movie that's done that is Ghost Rider. What's great about Ghost Rider is that the cowboy ghost rider in the film has a flaming skeleton horse that leaves behind flaming hoof prints, and it's really cool.
im getting these in my recommended now thanks youtube! lmao
really?! wow!
@@PrettyMuchIt Same here bruv
Future sight with that Howard the duck reference
Carlos O'Kelly's is the real-life Señor O'Shea's
1:00 also chitty chitty bang bang. I always loved those movies
Apparently Eric Stolz is still kind of in the movie it’s him punching Biff in the dinner not Michael J Fox but you can barely see him
its like im in the year 2016 all over again! i can't wait to see where this year takes us :)!
THIS IS 4 YEARS OLD
Why did I get a delorean ad while watching this. I'm not kidding
You should do a commentary track for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Copyright might be a nightmare
when I was a kid, I thought it was makeup to make the actors younger, not older 😆😆
This convinced me into buying the actual track
You think it starts that way because we all live in the alternate dimension of misremembering things.
So glad you did my favorite movie ever
There’s no way in hell this has been up for 4 years.
I would’ve seen it already.
Here in 2021. 🙏🏼🌹❤️🙏🏼
The Burger King still exists in the same spot, in Burbank. I drove by the other day lol
RE: Señor O'Shea's: I used to live near a bar called Pedro O'Hara's. I think the Irish/Mexican bar mashup is a serious thing in some parts of the county.
was not expecting that zach stone reference
The bar in Central Intelligence is called Señor O’Houlihans. Still a great subtle joke
zach stone is gonna be a time traveller
I never get why more people don’t point out their friendship is a bootstrap paradox. The doc only becomes friends with future Marty because he met past Marty in the 50s. The letter and everything, leads to the conclusion the doc knew he had to befriend Marty to get him to the past to inspire him to build a time machine.
9:26 now there’s some foreshadowing for you
3:02 I've seen this movie a dozen times but this is my first time ever noticing this; what is this wire on Marty when the speaker explodes?
Dang it, why do I have to be poor so I can't buy this?!?!?
11:09 what I always wondered during my childhood😂
Just finished the trilogy and the telltale game now I’m here
Lovely fun fact for ya, DeLoreans couldn't even go 88 mph so they had to make a new speedometer for the car
Why is doc always in such a rush in these movies?he literally has all the time in the world.especially the ending with him driving to his house saying he has to fix his kids.he could a just called him and they could have planned a way to fix it instead of rushing in with no plan.still an amazing trilogy though.my all time favorite movie
How the HECK did I miss this one
Fuck yeah this my second favorite movie ever
What’s your first
How have I not seen this video before?
It was private along with all the other pre 2017 commentary tracks
“Gotta go back”
Jake Baldino is in this
4:18 i remember once my brother saying that doc is Marty's sugar daddy
Please release more of the commentary
I live next to the twin pines mall (or lone pine mall) I go there all the time
I sleep like that.
You better not.
Iconic
there are NO CUTS
I need to see Swiss Army Man again. It's definitely one of the most unique films I've seen in a while, but the pacing was repetitive to me; reminiscent of a Spike Jonze movie. Went in with high expectations, so maybe I was just being anal about every detail.
the clocks at the beginning were a tribute to George pals film "the time machine"
fng gold hella glad to find it now
I just realized in back to the future 2 when Marty asked for a Pepsi free I was confused about that , until the first movie when Marty was sleeping and doc called him on the wooden counter above Marty bed the soda can said diet Pepsi free.
Batman V Superman... Good shit!
Get me someone who talks about me the way Eric talks about Lea Thompson
Dis was posted on ma burf day
Why have I never seen this before
