    Hello Toine,
Your channel would have to be the best channel I have found for how to cook Dutch recipes, thank you so very, very much.
    I have subscribed to you.
I was born in Amsterdam and came to Australia when I was only 8 years old.
My mum cooked Dutch food but I never learned how to cook it myself - she is passed now so I am very glad that I stumbled across your channel.
I was feeling a bit nostalgic for Holland and thinking about my childhood living in Holland especially round Christmas time, the snow, throwing snow balls, sleds down the side of the Dyke in Rotterdam, the Canals, ice skating, windmills and New Year, I could go on and on - lots of fond memories.
Cheers to you and your family and many blessings and thank you for sharing your Dutch recipes with us all.
    Lizzy from Aus.

Lizzy - Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! When we created our channel, our hope was to reach people like you, and help you recreate the foods from your youth! I hope you get to make some of our recipes, and I'd love to hear if there are any specific recipes you'd like us to post on our channel!

      Hi Toine,
      It's Lizzy here,
Thank you for your lovely words and quick reply to me.
Yes, actually there is something that I wouldn't mind for you to investigate.
I remember as a child in Holland that Santa's helper Swarte Piet (please forgive my Dutch spelling as I have lost my mother tongue) used to throw around these little round things of beautiful tasting nut type of balls to us. We would pick them up off the street as fast as lightning, we would be lucky to get one - Haaaa.
I can't remember for the life of me what they are called.
I don't personally know any Dutch people so I can't ask anyone.
      Maybe you know ???
It would be so, so sweet to learn how to make them too.
      Bless you.
      Lizzy from Aus.

Hi Lizzy - I think you mean pepernoten or kruidnoten. I have a recipe for the latter here: ruclips.net/video/dEUKAMzlWqw/видео.html

They are quite addictive, and it takes a lot of willpower not to overdo it.

Great video! I just got back from the Netherlands where I bought some of these in a supermarket and loved them so was looking for a recipe to recreate them. I also picked up some thin crisp butter cookies with an almond brittle like centre - they were labelled as Romeo's but I can't find anything about them online. Are these a Dutch treat that you have heard of?

Use two pieces of wood with the right thickness to roll out the dough or almond paste

Try folding the baking paper into the size you want first. Then put the almond paste into it and roll it out to the edges. It's a technique I use making puff pastry and it works rather well.

@@ToinesKitchen It works really well when rolling out butter and dough for croissants, pains aux chocolats etc. Otherwise, I would struggle with it, too!
