I have stage four bone cancer. This morning, my doctor gave me two months. Hurts so bad. Then I found this song. It’s comforting. I’m ready to spread these 64 year old wings and fly.
This song played at my great grandmothers funeral. She was 97 years old. She lived to see the dustbowl, the depression, 17 different presidents, times of segregation, WW2, the adaptation of technology, and so much more. The day she passed, she said, "I'm not walkin', I'm flyin'."
@@Kickhouse777 time in US history that was a severe drought, which caused insane amounts of dust that covered everything in the great plains. Ruining crops, agriculture and overall life for everyone.

I lost my Mother on Thursday 02/20/2020. This song was chosen to be the one we will play at the end of her service. Beautiful. She will love this uplifting song. She wouldn’t want her family and friends to be sad.❤️ Rest in the arms of your true love Mom. He’s been waiting for you for awhile now.
All who claim to know the Lord do not, many are called, but few are chosen, in my life, many have claimed to be Christian only to behave like the devil, very few in number are those that I have met that are in reality, the Lord's elect. My mother in law was one of the chosen, she behaved as Christ desires and was a great inspiration to many. They played this song at her funeral 3 years ago, I did not weep for her, I smiled and I praised God for her life. She was most godly woman I have ever known. And I was blessed to know her and to be her son-in-law. I believe completely that she now rests with the Lord, I'm I miss you mother.
When my beloved Aunt passed away too young in her home, this was playing on her stereo system...the officers who were called to check on her when she didn't show at work that morning said it was surreal and super sad to be hearing that song when they made entry and discovered she'd passed away in her sleep. God was kind to let her pass that way, some are not so lucky, and she'd had a hard life and deserved the easy passing that she was granted. RIP Auntie.

One of my earliest memories is hearing my great grandmother play this song on the piano, with my grandma's sister singing. She was a self taught pianist that played in her church all her life. Good stuff, love it.
I once knew a man who's name will not be mentioned. He was a preacher of a church and had a beautiful family. One day he found out he had cancer. Days weeks, months, past and eventually one year had rolled around. The happy man that stood 6'3 had weltered into a man who had been ate up with cancer. As his last dying moments he was sitting on the couch with his wife and three daughters. They started singing this to him. "I'll fly away oh glory, I'll fly away, in the morning." They sing softly sung as the man gently laid his head down on his wife's shoulder and went on to be with the lord. I will get to see him one day, and every time I hear this song I think of how much of a good man he was. Earths loss, heavens gain.
In the meantime, my life is not over. Every night when I go to sleep I pray that I won't wake up tomorrow morning, but I wake up again and again. My God, when will you take me away?
This soundtrack reminds me of how surreal life really is. I couldn't be any more blessed & happy to be living & sharing these sentiments with other people. There's nothing better in this world than God and his infinite blessings. I love you all and sincerely hope your lives go amazing. I know what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving of 2020; my family, who I can never spend enough time with while I have it. Everything I'm blessed with that I continue to take for for granted. May He give me the strength to forgive myself and continue living & loving with all I am and will ever be while I'm on this wonderful Earth. Lord, it doesn't get much better than this
If only the Lord finds me worthy of Heaven, will I find happiness? I have more years behind me than in front of me. And I'm going to hear only one of two things. "Part from me, for I do not know you". Or, "Well done, my good and faithful servant". nearly all of my family have gone home to be with the Lord. I yearn to see them again.
My precious Mother loved this song. She was a devout Christian she never gave up not even when she had to watch the last son of three die in a fire. She was never the same but she still praised God. She died with cancer and it ravaged her entire body. She held her hands up and looked up and said,"sweet Jesus what's taking so long"...I will never forget those words.....I MISS YOU SO MUCH MOM 🙏🏻🙌🏻
I love this song I grew up singing it in Church but didn't understand it fully until later in life when my Grandpa passed. it still warms my heart to hear it to this day.
My grandmother passed away today. She always listen to bluegrass, she came from deep in the hills of Appalachia. And she used to sing this song to me. It was the perfect send off.
This song is also my favorite. This was the last song we sang to my brother before he died I absolutely love this song💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Shalea Baucom beautiful song to sing to your brother before he died as much as you would love him with you he is with his lord as we all will be some day
Im not religious, but i went to church as a kid. I genuinely wish that i believed in god. Life would be easier if i had someone to always confide in and watch over me, but alas, such joy is not for me. Im jealous of people who believe, since i used to believe as a kid, and i know the comfort and peace it brings. Still, its nice to listen to such devotion. Music is a beautiful medium because it allows the conveyance of emotion without having to delve into semantics and history and culture, it just IS. Music is universally beautiful. If you believe in him, God bless you.
I don't know you, but my heart breaks for you...turn back to our eternal Father...there is a beautiful version of this old hymn by Jars of Clay ..and if I may suggest a song..please find and listen to The only time I saw God run by Benny Hester...remember in Isaiah, God said " if you seek me ,you will find me, if you seek me with all your heart 🙏🌷♥️
"I'll Fly Away" (from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack) Some bright morning when this life is over I'll fly away To that home on God's celestial shore I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory I'll fly away in the morning When I die hallelujah by and by I'll fly away When the shadows of this life have gone I'll fly away Like a bird from these prison walls I'll fly I'll fly away I'll fly away, oh glory I'll fly away in the morning When I die hallelujah by and by I'll fly away Oh how glad and happy when we meet I'll fly away No more cold iron shackles on my feet I'll fly away I'll fly away oh glory I'll fly away in the morning When I die hallelujah by and by I'll fly away I'll fly away oh glory I'll fly away in the morning When I die hallelujah by and by I'll fly away Just a few more weary days and then I'll fly away To a land where joys will never end I'll fly away I'll fly away oh glory I'll fly away in the morning When I die hallelujah by and by I'll fly away I'll fly away
I absolutely love this song, my mom passed away from cancer and I sang this to her on her bed she passed away in that was in hospice n there was a really sweet gentleman that was walking by and stop don't no who he was, it was like an angel from above came in and asked if I would like it if he would play his guitar as I sang this to my mom and of course, I said yes n it was absolutely breathtaking and she hadn't moved in days n she gave a smile n moved her head towards me singing n we sang other songs after that, but she didn't move after that, was so special, and this is the song I want sang or played at my funeral/ crossing over party, as I don't want people mourning my death, I want them to celebrate my life!!
When Dad passed, we played 'I''ll Flay Away' , 'I Saw the Light' and 'The Circle will be Unbroken'. We went out the funeral home door , as they loaded him in the hearse, with the whole congregation singing 'I Saw the Light' at the top of there lungs. We hugged, laughed, cried and rejoiced, all at the same time.
As a full grown man that hunts, shoots, fishes, and all of the other things typical of a man to do; this kind of music still brings a tear of joy to my eye. Yeah, I'll admit it.
my cousin that was in the hospital passed about 1 year ago and after that i listend to this song and it touched me so much and praise god for the good life his given me
I used to be very suicidal a few years ago. I was constantly in and out of mental institutions and hospitals for attempts on my life, and I often sang this song when I had awful bouts of depression and suicidal thoughts/tendencies. But I met some really amazing people on what was a dark road, and I'm much healthier and happier now. I'm so grateful I met those people and I can now accept love and care from others and myself. This song doesnt make me think so much about the hard parts of my life, but the people who were there to beighten it. I'm sorry for all of those in the comments who are missing a loved one who's gone, its sad reading these stories. But I'm sure they know they were loved. That's what matters most. Peace and light to everyone ❤
I remember when I was a child, my great, great, Aunt Elsie would sing this. I can still remember going down the road from my Grandfather's to her back porch, and getting a glass of her sun brewed tea at the old family farmhouse.
I remember my grandma singing this to me everyday. When we had Sunday morning church she would make me get up in the front and sing with her. Love you mamaw. Happy 63rd birthday in heaven.
Praise God, Praise God, God also has my two brothers, my only sister, my earthly dad, all grandparents, all my Marine brothers, no longer here! But God has them in safe keeping for me. I will see them again some sweet day when I fly away!!! Semper Fidelis to Jesus Christ! Amen

My dear friend Holly passed away on 12/21💔Before she passed on... she requested Bible verses and songs she wanted played at her memorial. I'll fly away is one of those songs😢I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to Holly. But I have comfort in knowing I will see her again someday💝
This was one of my Mom and Dads favorite songs. And God love them they both went to their Heavenly home within 6 weeks of one another. My only peace is knowing that they are now walking with Jesus. RIP Daddy and Mom, I love you and miss you.
Beautiful song. I Just watched the movie “Greater” and it struck me hard. I’m not a football player, but I’m loving this mans story and how important it is to live by Gods path through Christ Jesus. I’m a doubting Thomas at times, but I’m still praying. God bless you all during your trying times.
So very glad for you that you had the chance to watch and realise the love God has for us by showing us the path to true Life, peace and joy! Just keep praying and holding on to Him...He'll never leave you or let go, for His faithfulness is forever and His lovingkindness knows no bounds. That's not some third-source repetition I picked up and repeated - it's firsthand experience from a life of hard times, betrayals, sorrow and loss. He is my Constant, my Consolation, my Joy, Peace, Hope, Inspiration and and source of Life. And He's that and more for you, too, in your trying times and good ones. May you be blessed. (-:

Every night when I go to sleep I pray that I won't wake up tomorrow morning, but I wake up again and again.
My God, when will you take me away?
Im giving up on my hopes up for a while and I love you and I hope you feel better sometime
My dad has gone for ever to be with the Lord 🙏❤️ this song reminds me that one day i will fly away to be with the Jesus amen 🙏❤️
Lord, it doesn't get much better than this
It is a beautiful song. Makes me see the beauty of the after life and not fear death as much.
Welcome Home, friend. It's good to have you here with us :]
Amen💌
My two adult sons have passed,Mom and Daddy passed,My only Sister on her 69 th Birthday in 2023..I’ll go when it’s time to fly away 😢
This world is not our home. 🙏😍
Sorry
My mother passed away this morning and this song is very fitting on how I feel right now. Thanks for posting.
Kelly Matinsky So sorry for your loss.
So sorry I know how it feels to lose people
I'm sorry for your loss hope everything's better now
Kelly, God will be with you! Lost my husband 3 and 1/2 years ago!
Don't let satan take joy from you. Be thankful for the time you had with her and remember the good memories. God opened my eyes to this.
So, am I the only person that doesn't believe in god that loves this song or what?
nah mate, you got me,old gospel music is the best, even though i dont believe in it,it just sounds so peaceful.
david heming lululululululululululululululul doubt it. Thanks anyway.
i m not a believer but this the closest divine thing to me MUSIC
fenrisodessa it is the dericious wun, this song.
fenrisodessa ;and music in general too I guess.
My favorite rendition of any song ever. Still puts me in tears.
I love this song I grew up singing it in Church but didn't understand it fully until later in life when my Grandpa passed. it still warms my heart to hear it to this day.
Sang this in Church all the time. Was very pleased to hear it on Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?
This is the most beautiful song I grew up singing this in church.i played this for my daughter at her funeral.
My grandmother passed away today. She always listen to bluegrass, she came from deep in the hills of Appalachia. And she used to sing this song to me. It was the perfect send off.
This was my Grandma Daisy's favorite song.
I miss you, G'ma.
🌹♥️🌹
Speak life not death ..God is a miracle worker
Unreal.. how could anyone not like this?!
This song is also my favorite. This was the last song we sang to my brother before he died I absolutely love this song💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
all the best
a
we can be assured physical death is not the end........just the beginning
Shalea Baucom lol
You do believe in a god... Deep down this song touches you... You don't know why... That's God...
Faceless but felt
"I'll Fly Away"
(from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack)
Some bright morning when this life is over
I'll fly away
To that home on God's celestial shore
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
When the shadows of this life have gone
I'll fly away
Like a bird from these prison walls I'll fly
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
Oh how glad and happy when we meet
I'll fly away
No more cold iron shackles on my feet
I'll fly away
I'll fly away oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
I'll fly away oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then
I'll fly away
To a land where joys will never end
I'll fly away
I'll fly away oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
I'll fly away
Thanks!!! I hope that they play this when I cross over.
I can remember signing this in church 40 years ago.
@@AnMadreMor If you have a LW&T or advance directive add that you want this played & which version. Wish granted! (-:
Blessings and peace.
I love this song. My grandma would alway sing it to me, she passed away last year and I listen to this every day to keep my hopes up.
Hello 👋 Linda. How are you doing? Hope you are fine
When Dad passed, we played 'I''ll Flay Away' , 'I Saw the Light' and 'The Circle will be
Unbroken'.
+Mosin54R x54R for life!!!!! cheers
No shame in that brother
Real men cry :)
Mosin54R nothing wrong with that
I’m not grown but amen brother

My severely autistic son started singing I'll Fly Away just a few minutes ago.
Meloney Ashworth
Absolutely incredible........beautiful.
Interesting.
God Bless
Music is the best therapy for a lot of things. I wish you all the best.
Be encouraged, mom.
Praise the LORD; CREATOR
of ♡☆heaven & earth!!!☆♡
I love this song! Reminds me that we are just poor travelling strangers on earth waiting for our Creator to call us home!
A beautiful Southern Country Hymn, performed by the Angelic voice of Alison Krauss. Wonderful job Alison. Thank you and God bless you.....
My father passed away February 11, 2010. This was his favorite song and wanted it played at his funeral. We had it played for him.

Used to sing this at summer camp ah the sweet times around the campfire. Now the true deeper meaning of this song bring a smile to my lips and hope to my spirit!
I used to play it on the trumpet when I was a kid, I didn't know the words until much later. I loved the tune. Then I loved the lyrics,
Thank You for sharing such a uplifting song, God Bless

So sorry for ur loss
My grandmother sang this when she was dying of lung cancer . This song will forever leave a mark on my soul ❤️
Played this at my father's funeral. Song has been written on my soul.
