I bought a brand new boat back in March and I have a 200 Pro XS and I absolutely love it! Should have gotten the 225 due to my high elevation but this motor looks mean, sounds mean, smooth, reliable, American made and looks badass!
Pro XS rules
PE is good for mental health, so it is healthy. My 9 year old Merc 150 Pro ALWAYS started even after sitting for 10 months. Never failed me once. The new four strokes have been great to me for the last two years, and they sound great.

I only have a 150 four stroke on my boat. Absolutely love it! Tons of power and great PERFORMANCE. and This Mercury gets phenomenal fuel economy. I love my Mercury!

My boat is a Ranger 2002 model VS 175. It came with a Merc 125 two stroke. I changed out two years ago to the Mercury Pro XS 115 Command Thrust. I couldn’t be happier with the new one!

@@Peter-cj2ml about the same but the four stroke is much more reliable. It starts up fast and the hole shot is great also. Mine has the Tempest 25 pitch prop where the old two stroke had the smaller diameter 21 pitch trophy prop. I hope this helps!

Ran Mercurys for years, never thought there was anything better. Switched to Yamaha few years back ( got a great deal ), was instantly impressed with how quiet and smooth it is. Very easy to maintain. Starts right up every spring. Love Yamaha now!

They’re ALL expensive these days. Suzuki is a little less expensive that Merc and Yam, but outside of Florida dealer support is sparse for Suz
Suzuki is prone to rotting the top of the engine block. Even the late models after the suposed fix.

Bro, I wish you would come to Leakesville, Mississippi and fish some of our ponds. We have a 55 a65 an 85 and a 120 acre. In the 85 acre , the record bass is 14 lbs 2 oz.
I think it’s because we have about 10 feeders going off 2 times a day. Huge bream. We’re begging people to fish it and take fish out. No one wants to fish. Guess we’re gonna have to pay a pond management guy to shock it and take fish out again this year. Flashed my SHO on my 20 ft xpress. I’ll smoke that Mercury. You’ll feel like you’re tied to a fence post. Lol. Love your videos !
Those new mercs are nice and they are reliable I don’t know anyone that has had any major issues with one plus they sound sweet on a cold start

I don’t have a boat so IDC about engines but I just love y’all and wish we lived next door.
Everyone has different experience but my experience yamaha best, most reliable motor made.
As a marine mechanic who works on both brands Yamaha is a better quality product.All I will run on my boats is Yam.
Did you know, the Yamaha marine engine is the result of corporate espionage against mercury marine.

4 years now Brian, how has your experience been? I never had a Mercury personally but knew a lot of guys who ran them and in the early 90s, when it seemed like most shifted over to the Yamahas. Tight lines!

I know nothing about the mechanical or performance differences but that Mercury is sexy AF. My merc is 17 years old and 2 stroke. Smokes like a train and floods out. Give em hell blat
Nothing like that sound, man! I love it! My Pro XS only had 344 hours, got to stay with it for a while, thinking about buying a new boat next year. I love my Triton 21HP but Triton isn't the same boat as it use to be when Earl owned it. I like that Falcon
Bullet in your area for the win. BassCat has massive cred and really high resale value.
My dream boat is an Allison XB21 BasSport Pro Elite but very hard to find a 5 or 6 year old boat, no one ever sells them. With a Merc 250R, they're hitting 95 plus. Also made around the same area as Bullet, in Louisville, TN. New with the 250R, you're looking at $95,000 rigged out. Like Bullet, all hand built, and will last forever .

I have a 1997 Ranger 461vs with a 1997 Mercury 150 efi on it which I bought new. I just installed my first switch 170.00 part on her for repair after all these years and she still runs great and strong! Yes It needed basic maintenance parts otherwise perfect.

Hey we all know how that two stroke green and when you start it up sound like you started up some kind of sports car. When you take off it put you on plane real fast. I ain't knocking Yamaha Yamaha is awesome but that mercury that's smooth gear shift and that power you just go outside across the water. We all can say a motor is a motor and we are like different things about the motors that we use change it up a bit so let's just all agree to disagree. How do you say Mercury just get you to that bass fast that's all. LOL!

Love that growel.... All my buddies can not believe how little fuel that mercury best uses. Mercury knocked it out a the park with this engine.
Glad someone else said it. Love not having to fill up EVERY time I hit the water. Best fuel efficiency I’ve seen.
My dad and I had a little 16 foot Falcon with a Merc 50 back in the mid 70s. It had that stick on the left side instead of a steering wheel. Great little combination. 30mph top speed!

Have 1 merc and it is an old 115 tower of power. Strong as hell to pull an old ranger out of the hole but leaks fuel. Love Evinrude and always been loyal to them but their closing hurts me. I guess my new Falcon will have a merc on it
Yes, I too was disappointed by 'Rude's closing. I would have really liked to have compared the hole shot (torque) of the new 250XS to the 250HO but I don't think I'm ready to gamble $15-25k that 'Rude parts will be readily available in 12 years when they don't have to take care of parts anymore, cause my Venom 200 is 22 years old this year.

I never heard you give a reason for switching back other than, it’s smooth and it’s black. Hmmmmm…ya that’s a reason, not really a technical reason, but reason enough. Check this out that nut and bolt combo you where hanging from has a torque value…you should ask Katie at BIM…she forgot more about boats than most men. Good luck this year 2022

Suzuki makes a great outboard as well
A lot of people have great things to say about the Suzuki 250SS. Outside of Florida the Suzuki dealer support gets real thin. Pro XS is a 505 pound V-8 that is all sizzle.

Only thing I would run though... Trying like heck to get this 2015 Proxs 250 junk of my boat as we speak... 2 -stroke.. It’s been down for 5 months.. 550$ a month... Phoenix 920.... I drove it twice, 3.5 hours total... I was still waiting on my seats and other stuff to come in from the dealer.. They knowingly sold it to me with a cracked block.. Biggest Phoenix dealer in South Carolina... Won’t even return my phone call.. Told me I unplugged a injector line.. It was my fault... Boat sat on the lot for over a year with the block cracked because it had electrolytes’s growing 1/8 inch out the back of the cylinder bore....Absolute crooks Palmetto Marine
I agreed to purchase a power head at cost and ask if they would just change them out for me.. Yeah 10k they would when I just handed em 12k days earlier down payment... Also lied to me bout the hours on the boat bye 175 hours and obviously lie about the compression test being prefect.. It probably was perfect 18 months earlier when it was checked at trade in, but since 2 employees fished tournaments out of the boat and demoed it as well.. 18 months on the lot I found out later... Beware of these guys.. they lied to me about everything that came out of there mouths.. Marty the owner of Palmetto Marine.. I drove 8 hours to del with this reqpital dealer...Absolute crooks

All the motors are pretty good these days but still love the Mercury’s. The new V8’s look fast sitting still.

Back in the 1990’s when i was fishing with my dad, he had a 60hp Johnson and i swear it hated water. Before we left the house we would crank it over and check that it would start. As soon as we hit the boat ramp, its was dead! When it did start it would choke out everyone on the ramp, looked like we were popping smoke for extraction! It was an embarrassment!
Then when we thought it was having a good day and started on the ramp, we would get to our spot and then ready to move, its dead again!

I'm still running my '01 Mercury XR6 150. I keep waiting for it to kick the bucket so I can get something fuel injected. But the thing just won't die.
Same. Sister has an Mercury XR6 150 on the back of her Hurricane deck boat and the damned thing is bulletproof. Boat has had new carpet, upholstery, and bikini canvas - motor got one set of plugs, new water pump, fuel filters, lower unit lube in 18 years. They run Merc oil, ethanol free fuel and SeaFoam. They beat the shit out of it - starts and runs great.

These things sound like they got a race cam shaft in them by the way they idle. My goal one day is to put a Mercury 250R on the back of an old Gambler.

I love the sound of the PXS but it’s crazy how where you are to where I am the quiet motors are what everyone wants
Merc makes Pro XS exhaust louder and the cams are more aggressive because it’s a Pro XS. B Lat’s new missile is a 505 pound V-8 which is amazing.

I have a Yamaha 250 SHO and That thing flies straight out tha gate, I’ve never had any problems with it and it’s very quiet! I absolutely love my Yamaha and wouldn’t trade anything for it
Yamaha makes a great motor - but Mercury has been coming on REAL strong the past decade with great designs and engineering. That V-8 Pro XS is 🔥

Until we force theses last 3 big manufacturers to compete on prices we all loose when people say I only use this brand or that brand. News flash Suzuki, Mercury & Yamaha all make quality products if you take proper care of them and come with warranty’s to back them up. & yes all you Yamaha guys if you don’t take care of them they brake to. I run a pro xs. Because the shop that down road from me takes care of anything I need on my boat or motor and will have it turned around in a day or less. They never failed me in 3 years on this boat & motor. So that is priceless to me. My buddy bought a Yamaha and it been in shop more then I can count while another buddy got a Mercury same size engines on similar sized and weight boats but the Mercury never in shop. But saying that I know other people with both brands and situations switched so go figure Buy on price and warranty and quality repair center nearest you. Force the company’s to say dang we have to offer incentives to are costumer or they buy other brand just saying.
Buy what you like. It’s a huge investment so if looks or a brand decal makes you happy jump on that 😂
