So you could buy a 2010 gtr for a bargain price, take it to these guys, and get a rebuilt motor with way more power than a brand new gtr and all for cheaper too?
Well, it depends on what you actually want from a car, GTR can be driven whole year, Lambo gives more prestige, it's sound is more exciting, and it's something really special. Driving it everyday as a normal car simply hurts, better have another "everyday driver", unless you have so much money that you don't care about it. Personally I'm in love with S63 Coupe.
+Cars Uncovered Yeah but depending on how hard it was driven before it might need a rather pricey chassis maintenance tightening everything up that can run upwards of 10k. I know that's how much it costs for the LFA and you have to do that every 10k performance driven miles on it.
100 grand for the car + $29,000 for the package to bring it to 800 HP. In total you spend $129,000 and a Lambo Costs $400,000. Plus GTR has rear seats for my Niggas and Hoes so this car is perfection in my eyes. Sucks I can't afford one :(
Even though I have realized my dream by buying a 2013 GTR, I can tell you it still gives me chills every time Jay gets on the gas and that exhaust comes to life!! :)

Can't believe people are still arguing if this is a Skyline or not, just like when it first came out. The answer is, that Nissan themselves does not consider this a continuation of the Skyline brand. The Skyline brand has moved over to Nissans luxury badge, Infiniti. Skylines are now 4 door sedans. It's not uncommon for automakers to shift brands in other directions. Look at the new generation of the Dodge Charger.
The R-34 was a skyline. This R-35 is the GT-R. It is the continuation, simply under a Different name. Although I believe the Skyline would also be called a GT-R.
GT-R pre R35 is a variant with 4 wheel drive and the most powerful engine. Theres also rear wheel drive versions such as the Skyline GT, GT-T etc. The GT-R badge was the top of the line.
I guess you dont know much about Skylines history. Every skyline since the dawn of time has come in 4 door. People would refer to the RB26 models simply as the GTR, no one would even says skyline. So nissan just cut out the name and literally called it a GTR.
Anders Kristensen Maybe so maybe no. They also share the same chassis code as skylines. Its VIN has R35. If you know that is the skyline chassis code. R34, R33, R32, R31 etc etc. Yet another thing making it a skyline. The taillights, another trademark skyline feature dating back to even the original skylines. AWD, 6 cyl turbo. Since Nissan is under new management maybe they are trying to seperate from the past or something, but either way this is a skyline. They are just trying to erase the history that they would make 4 door versions, so its in its own class. Not "oh its just the highest trim version of this 4 door shitbox".
I cringe every time I see a car parked without the e brake on. Why so many people do that is beyond me. That's almost as annoying as people that slam it into drive while they're still rolling backwards. Both put strain on the transmission and accelerate wear. Is that 2 seconds really worth 3 grand for a new transmission?

Jay- check out a shop named AMS just outside Chicago. I took my WRX (you have not done a WRX, no?) in to have my two year pile of parts installed and dyno pro-tuned. They have a GT-R program definitely worthy of an episode.
this guy is so humble ,so many other tuners that I've seen on interviews talk like they are gods gift to cars. my buddy just bought a gtr for 60k preowned and he's modding it but once it blows he's going to build the engine. great cars and they make awesome drivers, these cars are the total package you can have 1000hp with air conditioning and reliability too.
Test drive a Corvette before you head on over and sign for the GTR. Test drive it too, don't take everyone's OVER-HYPED reviews on the car. Its a different animal when you actually drive it. I'm not saying its bad, just a different car from what you would actually expect.
Nissan and the Japanese in general make and take take cars to a different level but they just dont hold the value as much as the Italian made cars. I think the Nissan GTR is a fabulous car.
You put the GTR up against any American or European car it will leave it for dust the Japanese are the ones who now move the car industry forward in innovation and design. They not only go fast they are as you say reliable and very fuel efficient, you get so many optional extras thrown in as opposed to the European or American cars. In fact I would even go as far as to say all the Americans do is make ugly cars with big block engines in them with no road handling at all they are only worth anything in America.
+namit khan yo, the z28 destroyed a GTR in a time by time comparison and in a track race, not only that, the z28 is cheaper and has more engine parts than the GTR, the GTR is a beautiful car but is limited compared to the Camaro 5th gen, and also, Camaro has more heritage and at least our transmission doesn't crack when we build up the power :)
The American cars have loads of power but no road handling at all, Anybody can build a car with a big block v8 but what use is it if it is a death trap with no road handling. The GTR has the most superior road handling system in the world.
I think the opposite is true. The 350Z and 370Z are more of a true sports car and the GT-R is the grand tourer. Yes, it has more power but it also is a four seater and it has no option for a manual trans. It is an awesome car and crazy fast but that does not make it a true sports car. The Z cars, while far from perfect are much closer to the classic sports car form factor 'a small, usually two seater, two door automobile designed for spirited performance and nimble handling' (Merriam-Webster) Sports cars should be quick and fun but do not need 500hp to qualify them as a sports car.
but its still a fox body mustang....know what i mean?Ive driven them often, they really aren't a great car stock and when modified anything can be better, this car stock is brilliant. muscle-cars are great but this is a whole other level.yes its expensive but if i had a choice between this and a fox body mustang i would be definitely driving this any day.
The 350Z was sort of the succesor of the Skyline. Nissan wanted to make the Skyline a more luxury car, so they made the Infiniti G cars, and the 350Z was supposed to be the next sports car from Nissan.
***** No, I really meant it. I Just read that you said the 35oz was more or less the successor to the skyline and then I kinda stopped reading and commented.
Pretty sure that's a regular w204 C300 or C350 (which I have). A C63 would drown out some of the sound of the car being filmed. Plus, the bodywork doesn't quite look like an AMG.
I'm just surprised that no one from the mafia crime organizations cruising around with one of these cars… i mean it's quite cheap enough for outrunning the cops and also it's boots we're big enough to mount gary coleman's corpse inside
anyone who mods a skyline for their own personal use better be racing professionally and own no other car. there's just no need to make it faster for anything but pissing contests. this looks well done, but excessive for the car's intents.
You see, this is not the "wanted" one. It won't be as valuable in a future market. People of the future will want the first one's, or the fastest one's. This one's a 2010, making it in the middle of the road. Look at how much these cars drop in value. You can buy an 09 GT-R for 29,000$. That's a price I've seen them listed for. Your point just doesn't prove true with this particular car.
Is it just me or does Jay always have nothing good to say about modern supercars and sports cars. He just makes the guest feel awkward as he rants about "...yea, but it still doesn't compare to a Porsche 911 turbo, 911 carrera, 911 this, 911 that" in almost all his videos. We get it, you hate cars that are paddle shift, electronic dashboard, hate cars that does not have the names, 911, turbo, or Porsche in it. I'd just like it if you were more appreciative for cars people bring on your show. I'm not a GT-R fan myself, but I still have good things to say about it
this is real sports car, unlike stupid Bugatti 1200 horsepower with no great increase in performance as drifting and maneuvering and Lamborghini with only the looks of it being cool. Most important of all, the GTR is not overpriced, the only sports car that worth every penny on the market. Go home Porsche , Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, you guys are drunk. GTR ftw
ipdjbt Fast and Furious 3 might have been stupid but the judicial and calculated application of drifting is something that exists throughout from motorsport: from F1 to Rally Racing it's sometimes just faster to slide than to slow down for a sharp change in nose direction. But this guy probably is stupid, eve if drifting isn't. The GTR can't beat a Porshe 918, it can't beat a Ferrari F12, it can't beat a Lamborghini Aventador, and it sure has shit can't beat a Bugatti Veyron. There are supercars and then there are hypercars. Your supercars are you Ferarri F458s, your Lamborghini Huracans, your Aston Martin Vanquishes and your Nissan GTRs. They're between $100k and $300k. They're amazing. A GTR is better than some, and beaten by others in terms of pure performance. But you can't ignore the value of branding. But then you have Hypercars. Cars that cost around a Million Dollars. The McLauren P1, the Pagani Zonda, the Koenigsegg, the Ferarri FXX, the Bugati Super-Sport. You can't expect a GTR to beat these Juggernauts made entirely out of Titanium and Carbon Fiber that have engines roughly 50% bigger than the GTRs.
for the money i agree but if that wasn't the problem i would rather have each of the other cars you said by far. i'd also respect the gtr more if it didn't have a horrible interior.
Surprised Leno doesn't have a 90's Nissan Skyline or a late 70's Datsun 280xz in his collection instead of this. The 2010 GT-R is pretty awesome, but I wouldn't think it would be something a collector would want, it's a bit too common and not all that important historically.
that mightve been true in the 60's, but with the tech we have nowadays, stiffness isnt an issue, its all these damn safety features that need to be added to cars that weight them down, which is why im excited for the honda S660 concept, Nissan iDX and Miata MX-5 now
danknasty661 The miata has never had a proper chassis and this will be no different. The s660 has a tiny engine. The s2000 and the FC rx7 are the only convertibles I know with a proper chassis and one's +2700 and one +3000(tiny cars too). The 370 has a much stiffer chassis (seriously, they are ridiculously stiff) and much more engine, trans, size, comfort, etc. I believe it's the lightest entry sport car these days. By a sizable margin.
I love Japanese cars! Just got an Infinity Q50 with the twin turbo V-6. It's crazy fast and the acceleration is so nuts! The on-board electronics are unreal.
agreed but it won't be as fun as driving a manual car and feel more connected to the car. i will stick to a manual car until i drive a grandpa car. you minus well take away the manual from muscle cars as well but your not going to see that because again manual just feel more connected to the driver

+namit khan did you read the response above you? American cars can handle amazing now days.
"American cars can't handle" 6th Gen Camaro Z/28, Mustang GT350R, and the 7th Gen Corvette Z06 say hi.
As a middle aged man it’s my dream car! Jay can I drive yours? I’d love to come and see it. 👍. Big fan. Help me out lol
Plus, its more accessible
I couldn't agree more. And I actually like the look of the Z better. The GT-R looks too much like a Mustang to me.
this is my dream car
if only it was red
Right, Definitely, That´s correct!
I am not a car person but i like this show
Right....right...correct...correct...
ha 2,8 sec. thts amazing for a big car.
not too sure you guys know the difference between a ricer and a tuner..
"Are these carbon fiber rotors?" 😂
For $29K I can buy me a FoxMustang, plus with upgrades that can run 9's and handle over 1G at the track.
but its still a fox body mustang....know what i mean?Ive driven them often, they really aren't a great car
stock and when modified anything can be better, this car stock is brilliant.
muscle-cars are great but this is a whole other level.yes its expensive but if i had a choice between this and a fox body mustang i would be definitely driving this any day.
But it's not a Gtr ;)
JDM4LYF A foxbody which runs 9s gets destroyed by GTR that runs 10s? Did that honestly make sense in your head ?
The 350Z was sort of the succesor of the Skyline.
Nissan wanted to make the Skyline a more luxury car, so they made the Infiniti G cars, and the 350Z was supposed to be the next sports car from Nissan.
***** The Skyline still continues... Nissan Skyline 350GT AKA Infinity G35 which, imo, is better than 350z
The Ferocious Striker Ohmygod...-_-
I can read from Wikipedia too.
***** Oh sh*t I mustve skipped the part were you talked about the Infinities, wow, that's embarrassing in my part :(. Sorry man.
The Ferocious Striker Sarcastic or not?
Sorry, I can't tell over the internet.
***** No, I really meant it. I Just read that you said the 35oz was more or less the successor to the skyline and then I kinda stopped reading and commented.
E63 Amg camera car.
C63 amg
Pretty sure that's a regular w204 C300 or C350 (which I have). A C63 would drown out some of the sound of the car being filmed. Plus, the bodywork doesn't quite look like an AMG.
I'm just surprised that no one from the mafia crime organizations cruising around with one of these cars… i mean it's quite cheap enough for outrunning the cops and also it's boots we're big enough to mount gary coleman's corpse inside
Personally, I would NEVER modify one of these cars if I had one. It would add all the more value keeping it stock for the future market.
anyone who mods a skyline for their own personal use better be racing professionally and own no other car. there's just no need to make it faster for anything but pissing contests. this looks well done, but excessive for the car's intents.
Charlie Clay this isnt a skyline
You see, this is not the "wanted" one. It won't be as valuable in a future market. People of the future will want the first one's, or the fastest one's. This one's a 2010, making it in the middle of the road. Look at how much these cars drop in value. You can buy an 09 GT-R for 29,000$. That's a price I've seen them listed for. Your point just doesn't prove true with this particular car.
$29,000??? Where?? Tell me where you saw that, because I'll buy it for that price haha. I've never seen an r35 go for that cheap yet.
ycm202 Right here. It's listed as an "09 200SX" people are fucking dumb. www.carsforsale.com/used_cars_for_sale/2009_nissan_200sx_163946787_34
I'm not a GT-R fan myself, but I still have good things to say about it
I just got a hellcat charger and I love that car but there is something special about the gtr. One day I’ll own one.
Correct, correct, riggggght, rigggght HEH HEH HEH defiantly, right, right.
This is Godzilla, for sure!
NISSAN FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
performance=10/10
downforce=10/10
good look car=10/10
the pricr=10/10
exhust sound=0/10
this is real sports car, unlike stupid Bugatti 1200 horsepower with no great increase in performance as drifting and maneuvering and Lamborghini with only the looks of it being cool. Most important of all, the GTR is not overpriced, the only sports car that worth every penny on the market. Go home Porsche , Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, you guys are drunk. GTR ftw
Drifitng is fucking stupid. That is all I read from your stupid comment.
ipdjbt Fast and Furious 3 might have been stupid but the judicial and calculated application of drifting is something that exists throughout from motorsport: from F1 to Rally Racing it's sometimes just faster to slide than to slow down for a sharp change in nose direction.
Drifting in an AWD? No. I will agree with one thing you said though, for the money, you're not getting anything better than this.
for the money i agree but if that wasn't the problem i would rather have each of the other cars you said by far. i'd also respect the gtr more if it didn't have a horrible interior.
I'd go for the Porsche!
jay doesn't appreciate the pure brilliance of this car and should have had a Nissan employee really tell him what the car is all about.
Jay! I would like to have that car. If you send me that GTr you will receive a sub!
Surprised Leno doesn't have a 90's Nissan Skyline or a late 70's Datsun 280xz in his collection instead of this. The 2010 GT-R is pretty awesome, but I wouldn't think it would be something a collector would want, it's a bit too common and not all that important historically.
Newest older one he could legally import would be an R31.
I think, I didn't look at if that drive vid was from this year. We have lots of R32's, R33's, and R34's here in Canada.
+Len M. I think the r32 is legal to import as of 2014.
+geneva1999 He doesn't have this in his collection. It belongs to someone else.
+geneva1999 from your channel picture i assume you just teenager (so im not mad)and have zero knowledge how this car born.
I would rather have a Bugatti Veyron, then sell it, buy a GTR and a house.
Lol a muscle car guy thinks the 3200lb 370z is heavier than in needs to be.....interesting!
3200lb isn't light, anything under 1000Kg is light in my book
danknasty661 1000kg is the lack of chassis stiffness and proper interior in my book. 3200 is not optimal but they have a ridiculously stiff chassis.
that mightve been true in the 60's, but with the tech we have nowadays, stiffness isnt an issue, its all these damn safety features that need to be added to cars that weight them down, which is why im excited for the honda S660 concept, Nissan iDX and Miata MX-5 now
danknasty661 The miata has never had a proper chassis and this will be no different. By a sizable margin.
well i used to own an AE86 so i know whats light and that car had a decent chassis, stiffer than the miata for sure
That asian guy creeps me out
Probably just nervous. I mean he is with Jay Leno on Lay Leno's garage.
Iconic Stance Definitely, Definitely, Definitely 😂
Probably self conscious about his accent bro
he has a mischevious chuckle, cool guy
the editor must've had a really hard time syncing the audio tracks
I love Japanese cars! Just got an Infinity Q50 with the twin turbo V-6. It's crazy fast and the acceleration is so nuts! The on-board electronics are unreal.
Are you still lovin' it?
@@jenniferbeatty7545 Lol
was never a fan of the GTR since it's not a true manual, would prefer a r34, rx7 or supra or any classics with a 3rd pedal
not many manual cars left!!! also they approved F1-Shift system way faster than manual. Face fact F1-Shift gear way better than manual
agreed but it won't be as fun as driving a manual car and feel more connected to the car. i will stick to a manual car until i drive a grandpa car. you minus well take away the manual from muscle cars as well but your not going to see that because again manual just feel more connected to the driver
There was a time when people said they would never give up their horse for one of them newfangled motor-carriages. Times move on.
If i had his money man i would build a fucking beast of a car
This guy Shen's pretty cool.
notice how many times they mention Porsche.... AKA Big Daddy
I thought Johnny Tran died in the first movie?
Jay Leno should just gift me a GT-R :P
