Its faster in computational power but the only thing that is slow is its ssd because its unified unlike the base m1 but the difference in read and write speeds is inconceivable anyway so u should be good@@springinmayy
For clarification about how slow the base model is... unless you decide to do a lot of heavy work (like editing videos, etc) on the base model, it'll actually work just fine. The base model is still perfect for students if you're planning to simply research, read, take notes, write up essays etc.

I honestly love it! I was also hesitant this is my first ever MacBook so everything was very satisfying to me and it’s super fast although it does get a little heated during some video editing and uploading but nothing too bad. I can’t compare it to the M1 because I’ve never used it but the M2 is supposed to have a better performance. If your looking to save money then I suggest looking into the M1 or if money is not a problem and your look for a slightly better MacBook then the M2 should be a good option too. It’s all gonna depend on what your gonna use it for. But I would recommend the M2 air it’s really pretty and I haven’t found one problem with it so far. I hope this was helpful!!
I can feel you 🥲. I just ordered a m2 air 16 gb a week back. I was hesitant at first but I decided that all the little upgrades like brightness , design, magsafe, the chip itself is worth the extra. If you don't mind spending a little more , get the m2 If you are on tight budget get the m1.

Hello, you should surely go for the m2 version as the M2 is up to 25% faster and efficient than M1 and the read speeds on their drives is significantly faster with more display area and slimmer bezels and a nice camera but if you are in a budget below $800 then you can get the m1 that’s still a nice laptop for normal work and it can also handle 4K edits and pro stuff pretty well, you can find an m1 for cheap on Apple and even cheaper on bestbuy or Walmart.

for basic tasks definitely no, but when you play games or push it more it starts to get a little warm, but definitely not too noticeable. It rarely gets to a point where you can actually feel how hot it is on your lap and need to take it off.

Hi!! sorry about the late response. I can't really say if genshin runs well on the m2 or m1 MacBooks because I play it on cloud-based gaming software. I have the 8-Core CPU, 8-Core GPU, and 8GB Unified Memory, with the 256GB SSD Storage on my MacBook air and it's been very good at running video editing, and heavy uploads. I don't use monitors but I'm planning on buying one soon and I think I might be buying the HP - 21.5" IPS LED Full HD FreeSync Monitor. I have seen a lot of people use that type of monitor with their macs so I'm supposing that it's good. I can't really recommend you anything I'm by no being an expert, this is just my review of things that I have tried. There is some heating when uploading videos from the editing software to the drive but other then that there is no issue I have heard many great things about the base model and that it isn't that different from the M2.

yeah, what they said! int he store where i bought my macbook air m2, they asked if i want to get my own microsoft acc, and i figured i didnt have one of my own yet so i purchased an account from them, it costed more money but it was a lifetime subscription so its worth it! My tip when mking an acc is to just lie about your age and make it above 18 (if ur a minor) so that you wont encounter problems like that annoying captcha 'prove you are not a robot' tests.
I'm not sure if downloading genshin on mac is safe or not. I have genshin on 'Geforce Now' it's a cloud base gaming service and you get 1 hour of free gaming every time you play or you could pay and have longer gaming sessions. It's pretty safe and I recommend it.
Yes it’s safe because It’s the same game that you find in your mobile phone as the m2 chipset is a ARM based chip so that means it’s just a really big and powerful version of your phones chip, it’s more efficient than the desktop based chips and you can easily run some beefy applications on it.
it's really simple just download Geforce off their website and login it and genshin should pop up with a bunch of other games if not just look it up and it should show up

no, it's not difficult but I do use a mouse or keyboard sometimes if I'm playing on my desk otherwise I just use the macs keyboard and trackpad.
