I placed my order… It was called the Buick Opel in the US. My brother owned an 81 Civic and my Dad a 76 B210. The Opel looked like a crossover of the two. Looking forward to receiving the poster and seeing this gem finished.
I've never clicked on a video and then made a purchase so fast in my life!
I feel like yall messed with a yellow one before
I doubt you are able to read all the comments but it would be fantastic if you put round headlights in your Gemini,
And that car looks very similar to my 1969 Toyota sprinter fast back!
viola metallic porsche??
The smooth black and white transition and Marty acknowledging the lack of screen color, is hilarious
Yeah, took a while to notice the transition, the colours going in didn't compute when he started mixing.
Start from 17.58 and replay the screen Marty is looking at I am sure you can see a glimpse of the colour on the screen it looks purple to me but I am old and blind without my glasses so who knows
Hurtful, but hilarious
@@anthony6044 given the tints that went in, I have also concluded that it's a shade of purple most likely.
@@anthony6044 its midnight purple im calling it now
Mad props to Domino's for jumping into this.
Nice to see you boost smaller channels/shows like Unicorn Circuit, those guys and us 40 and a half viewers really appreciate it!
40 and half now? Glad to hear that they have picked up a few new subscribers.
no way we 38 have no new viewers
Come on guys you could at least take it back to bare metal. You cans call it a full resto if you don’t even take the paint off. I can’t wait to see all the shrink backs in a couple of years.
And was that galvanised tin he was welding in? That’s not what you use. 😮
@@abcdefgh1 Yep some peoples dogs are watching as well, so that boosted the viewer count (dogs only count as .5, as they're watching with their humans)
@@mickmarrett9284 you wanna see something disgusting? look up "AE86 Trueno restoration project KrYpto&WiFe" and watch when he solder repairs the hatch rot lol (around 7m50s)
*As seen on Wasabi Cars
That guy is a legend, he deserves a huuuge shout out.
That little jazz-funk number playing while Marty is ripping the trim off is really nice. Good work Moog, if that was you.
Thabks mate. Moog on drums + electric piano and Marty on bass and guitar 👍
Release it please, it's fantastic!
That's awesome
@@mightycarmods In that case, good work both of you. I love it ❤️
@@mightycarmods Its so awesome that you put all this music together yourself. Thats a huge inspiration for me everytime I think about it. Been dreaming of a YT channel to do car adventures and making the music myself for a long time. Keep it going guys, youre the heros of my automotive world
An Aussie Opel Kadett C built! F-yeah I can say, can't wait to see all the episodes and the final result! 💪😎🤘🔥🔥🔥
A USA 1976 Isuzu/Opel (Gemini Coupe) was my 2nd car in 1982! I added a Weber carbie, "frenched" the turn signals and door handles and painted it yellow. I loved it because NO ONE even knew what it was. Neither did the car parts store. 2 years later I had to junk it because I couldn't get any parts.
My neighbor (USA) has the N/A diesel Isuzu coupe.
couldn't get parts for one of the most mass produced compact globally
@@StanleyKubick1 It happens more with older cars like this cause most people never garage kept them, so they rusted out and most people wouldn't pay for repair of rust cause cars were soooo cheap back then. I only know this cause my step dad ownes a bunch of vintage Vauxhall and other brand vintage cars. He keeps all his spare parts in massive sheds he stripped of similar make and models
I found an 89 Chevy spectrum in my neighborhood a week ago. I want it. Just to join the Gemini club
Remember them being called Opel Isuzu by Buick in 78-79. A friend had the 2dr coupe’ in monkey vomit green. Another friend had one that was beige with a tan interior. Who spec’d that from new??
Great to see Dan @WasabiCars get a shout out.
Excellent content and his RUclips channel deserves a lot more views than it gets.
First time I ever heard a Nick Skitz Mega Mix was in a Gemini ❤😂
Iconic
Ooof! Hitting me right in the olds! 😂
Fuck yea, haha what a time to be alive
The face Marty did when he got to look at the colour! Pure bliss in that man eyes!
Martin
I too delivered Dominos pizza in my gold Gemini coupe with tartan interior named Bad Gem. (Sticker on back window)
Out in Sydney’s west in the early 1990s. I had 13” 4 spoke chrome Dragways 😂 purchased from Bob Jane T mart.
Did you sell it to a guy from Windsor? If so... it still exists.
@@BamBamZ_Gaming
I don’t remember to be honest it was so long ago.
I had put in brand new motor from higginbottom in Blacktown before I sold it.
Ha ha ha ha I remember your car!!!!!
@@rc70ys bloody dragways, I had to flare my front guards to fit some on my TX. Then the DOT got wind of it and I got done for being over-tracked 😑
Love how you guys are still doing the very same thing 16 years on, only now on a much larger scale because of the network you both have built, inspirational to say the least 👍🏻
😂
Oh that was cheekily done. The fade to B&W was well-timed.
Kinda ingenious
I love the throwback videos like this. It shows young people that you can start knowing nothing and learn as you go. Trial and error is the best teacher in the world. Neve stop paying, guys. The world is behind you.
IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING EVERYONE! The Gemini begins!
yeah boi ✌️
Gape
Glad you guys went for the 4 x 20 option.... The car has waited long enough, so has marty, it deserves the screen time.
420 ... nice
My first car was a vauxhall chevette here in the UK Poster was instantly bought . Got it when I was 17 for 200 pounds . So many memories .33 years later and I still miss it.
My mum had a Chevette, badged as a Pontiac Acadian.
My dad had a white Chevrolet Chevette here in Brazil dude, oh the memories! hahahahaha I much rather like how the name Chevette rings, I didn't want to be mean to the boys but gemini sounds so weird!
Good to see you guys gave Wasabicars a small plug. A great channel for people who love older JDM stuff.
Not only are you upside-down, but your Domino's boxes open the other way? Madness,
I noticed that too!
Its domino's latest pizza box design in Australia because pizza boxes are rocket science...
As a german, it looks like a Opel Kadett C Coupe that get's a lovely 2L 16 Valve.❤
Same platform, the Kadett K-180 and the Vauxhall Chevette were the european cars.
ich bin nicht der einzige deutsche hier
Because it is
It's exactly that. Can't believe that it then transitioned to fwd :D (same happened to the Ascona, which then became the Vectra)
asa swede i recognised it as a opel kadett too :P
I want to take a moment to thank you mates for you humor ingenuity craftynesss. Filming voice over editing. All spot on. I live in the states and with the utter insanity. It’s nice to find you 2 guys just a messing around with older cars. Thanks mates
Seeing the thumbnail - 'man that's looks like a kadett c coupe'. Checking the video - 'MAN THAT IS A KADETT C COUPE'.
The Gemini has had many names. Isuzu/Holden Gemini. Buick Opel, Opel Kadett, Saehan Gemini, Isuzu I-Mark
I was thinking the same thing as you and come to the same conclusion hahah😂
That was the exact same reaction, as a kadett b owner that wants a kadett c with a c20xe im a happy man seeing them build this car
The EGR valve, the ignition coil - those things may go away, but if you haven't learned anything from Bad Obsession Motorsports ...
KEEP THE BRACKETS!
When you realize you need a place to mount something, you might find that EGR bracket is great for some controller box, and the coil bracket will hold your fuel filter. There's even already a place you might be able to put the bracket, without drilling new holes and adding nutserts.
I have had about 10 of these but as Opel Kadett, everything from 1.2L to 2.4L, awesome cars and so easy to work on
The music in this video was excellent!!!!! Please make as much of it available as you dare Moog! So awesome to see Marty so enthusiastic, clearly a lot of memories and emotion for these cars in him.
The Gemini coupe was my automotive awakening. Dad built a black one ironically in the mid 90s when I was 5 or 6 years old.. I was obsessed with it, I would draw pictures of it in pre school and everything 😂
Ohhhh!! I am loving that the Gemini pizza-delivery series is kicking off!! Still just 2 minutes in, but had to comment. Also, I suspect there is gonna be heeeeaps of "Doncha mean, Opel Kadett?", "isn't that a Chevrolet Chevette?", etc... comments. Lol
The fact you have managed to keep a lid on this is an effort on it's own 🤘
I think they've had a 2.0 16v (Z20LET/LEH or C20) ecotec sat on the shelf in the background for years at this point. I can only assume that's for this Kadett, people have called it out in the past.
@@JamesBalazs the photo of the Plazmaman plenum a while ago points toward the single cam Isuzu that is fitted to these cars in Australia...
@JunkDevelopments it's definitely getting a 16v. C20xe/let based engine
@@JunkDevelopments that would be a shame when the 16v is so easy to tune
@@builtbybagsy 8 valve single cam G180 with an exhaust pump 😋
I have a 1979 Vauxhall Chevette over here in NZ that still registered, warrented, original carby engine, runs like an old mans dream. It's even harder to find parts for then this thing because it's a 2 door wagon! Never seen another one on the road! Been looking forward to this series for ages, it will give me a boost and some inspiration to tidy mine up!
I like Chevettes, the uk had a 2.3litre 16valve slant 4 hatchback known as a HS/HSR, it was a beast introduced in 1978, 135bhp, 135lb ft torque.
Changed direction like a kitten chasing a spider, quick for its day.
This Kadett style will be a great little restomod, can’t wait?
Thanks MCM for all you do. 🙏🏼
Seems like everyone but the US got a cool version of the Chevette. We just got 'dull commuter car' or 'even duller commuter car' options.
That said, a friend of mine has one that he's swapped a Subaru EZ30 into, behind the seats. It's absolute madness, to the point that it's had to be taken down to the shell and seam-welded because it was tearing itself apart.
@@musewolfman I like the sound of that! 👊🏼
@@musewolfman Yes, there has been some cool special versions of the Kadett (and it's derivates). UK had the wild HSR, mainland europe got the "Aero", "Rallye" and the GT/E. Good old times!
Love em & miss them almost daily. Memories with my mates back in the day are the best & unforgettable. I had 3 coupes back in the 80's, a TX (yellow) , TC (green) & TD (white). One with balanced, blueprinted 1600, twin 45mm side draft webers, cam, exhaust etc. Also member of the Gemini Car Club. Really looking forward to the series ahead !!
That grey colour looks awesome!!
@18:42 _"Alright, there's some silver in there, some black, some grey, some white some red, some blue, could be anything."_
This means this car is going to be metallic *brown or maroon* because brown _paint_ can be made by mixing red and blue.
I owned a yellow gemini as a p plater too, 24 years ago i can still remember the smell that every gemini has. Have been waiting for this build.
Danny here from the UK, I've followed since day one, I got my licence in the height of the max power era, love you guys with builds like this ❤️
Me too stumbled upon mcm in about 2008 budget Galant track car and subscribed also from the max power era got my licence in 97 , had many a nugget for many years worked on improved by myself on mother's driveway .
I had a Max power sticker in the back window of my Mk2 Astra and thought I was the boss. Of course I was 18 and couldn't afford a GTE so I had a 1.3L with a blown head gasket weighed down with half of halfords but I still thought I was Colin McRae
Boys I’m so excited about this build. I have a 1979 Datsun Stanza that’s in restoration mode. Looking forward to see what you do with it!
Good to have you back Marty 😀😀😀
🎉Love this build. General Manager for Dominos in Colorado! Do us proud gentlemen! 🍕
11:28 Tip for next time you're fighting these bitumen sheets: dry ice. Just throw some dry ice in, let everything cool down and then tap it with a rubber mallet. It'll all shatter and come off clean and easy. No need busting your knuckles and scraping it all off in little chunks at room temp. ;)
It's 530am out west. My coffee hasn't kicked in yet. Can't wait to see this gem.
Flashback to 2005, i wouldve been 13. My brother gets his first car and its a gemini. I remember helping him fit the new head unit.. as well as paint the interior vents and trim in metallic green 🤌
What a time
I love how the project cars have gotten more nuggety and unique. Been here since the radio install and “blue turd” days; yall are by far my favorite channel-much love from the US 🇺🇸
Netherlands: is that an Opel Kadett??

WHERES THE GEMINI.... (for past 2 years...)
OH FUCK YEAH! THERE IT IS!
Thanks for having me as your special guest, you really made sure i enjoyed it like a holiday , feeding me and showing me around the Sydney workshops ..much appreciated.

I've seen people remove that ancient black sound deadening from vehicles using dry ice, shit just breaks off like nothing.
Dry ice is by far the easiest and quickest way, turns an hours long job into a few minutes.
Boys I’m so pumped for this build project !!! Restoring a car like this takes love ❤️ and patience but the end result will be so worth it !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Man you guys need to get yourselves a laser cleaning machine.
Makes jobs like stripping shells to bare steel so much easier.
This is the stuff I love, old cars who have been widely forgotten by the world.
My first car was a black td wagon ,it had stuffed front seats ,so it had a arch put in to hold them up with gold crushed velvet interior
One of my neighbours had this car in yellow when i was a kid, i used to pass that house just to look at the car in his yard. Years passed and the car dissapeared. When i got my licence i tried to find the same car but i was out of luck..... happy to see someone i love watching gives us a trip down memory lane. Thank you :)
I've snagged another autographed poster to add to the collection. 4 posters and a book, all signed😊
If there is old car AND Japan involved, then you know it's going to be another one of those epic MCM journeys.
yesss, the ultimate Domino's delivery Gemini
Rust never sleeps, it only eats. Super excited for this one!
Why oh why are these two crazy Aussies the most wholesome thing to do with cars on the inter-balls??? Humble and simple... and just so good... when they start a big build... i get so excited... 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
OMG, I suspected it but now I'm sure, the Gemini was sold in Brazil under the name Chevette, by Chevrolet! My dad had a white one, I didn't know it had been so iconic in Australia! Can't remember if anyone really cared about it back when I lived in NZ, but this is just awesome!
Finally it's here!! I'm coming along nicely on my own Opel Kadett C City C20XE build and I'm soo super stoked I get to watch this unfold while I'm still working on my own version as well!
This is the build I have been waiting for. Its been ages coming and im so freaking excited
What a way to end an episode we've all been waiting so long to see 😂
As someone possibly a little older than you Marty seeing this build is bringing back some memories of my own from when cruising around as a teen.
We had a conversation a few years back at Penrith supercheap about my intention to build a gemgem as a circuit car but sadly it worked out cheaper to buy an early BMW 315i and drop the 5ltr ìnto it.
So looking forward to the rest of the series and hopefully seeing the old girl out in the wild in the future 🫡
i can finally stop crying for the gemini vids...i'm STOKED!!!
My very first car was a Gemini. Bought brand new in 1982. A TF limited edition “Starsign”.
2 tone blue and silver.
Loved it at the time.
Super poor quality engine. Did the rings at 25k.
My old man is a mechanic. We rebuilt the engine. He and his mate who was an engine builder told me everything was rubbish.
Sold it not too long after that.
Great memories , tho, as my first car.
My brother was a huge Gemini fan, it was my first car also. He once found a gramps spec coup and was so proud of it. I crashed into it on the day he got it, and wrote it off. He didn't complain a bit and his first concern was my well being. He passed a little while ago, thanks for jogging my memory.
Want to sell this once it's done?
I know it will look great due to all your past performances. Great video can’t wait to see it all finished.
I love you guys so much that I don’t skip a single add
I own a 1966 Mustang 289 Coupe. You can fix EVERYTHING in that car, and the 289 with cherry bombs is one of the best sounds on earth. Love those old cars for the stories and history and everything they’ve seen, modern cars can’t compare
I haven’t been following your recent uploads for the last year or so but I’m happy to be back for this one!
Aside from the amazing work that went into the car, the production and the direction of this video, I have to give you extra credit for the soundtrack. You've always produced fantastic music on your videos but this time you outdid yourselves! Hats down to you, truly!
Thanks for edging us, uncool bro... 😅 love it. The pasion behind a mans first car is priceless.
You did a 20min vid.....YESSSSS.
Means you listened to the real fans... The one who usually watch the main channel, as opposed to this, the secondary one
I love builds like these and huge respect to domino.
Go the Gemmi! One of my mates in college had one, he'd swapped out for the 2.0 Isuzu engine with Weber, cams and extractors. Went hard.
Well done guys! I can understand the hard work going into this build, my TE Gemini doesn’t have much rust but what it does have is currently being cut out and replaced, it’s a huge time and cost but I’m happy I have a very clean tidy car that I can still drive around while having some rust removed.
Can’t wait to see this when finished and hopefully see this Gemini at the Gemboree 2024 in Mount Gambier in November
I can't believe i waited about five years for this. So glad this is happening!
I'm so glad you guys decided to split this into separate episodes and go into detail
Been a little bored with MCM for the past 12 months, but NOW ...... you have my full attention!!! 🤩😛❤
The black and white transition was bloody awesome
I don't ever remember seeing a Vauxhall Chevette Coupe in the UK, but in 1983 I was posted to Germany with a new driving licence and a desire to drive around Europe. My first car was a bright orange 4 speed manual transmission, 1976 Opel Kadett 1.2 SR. As I'm sure all of us can with out first cars, the registration number was TX 815 B (a British Forces Germany plate). It had been very well maintained by a Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers mechanic. It wouldn't reach 100 MPH, but it would sit on the autobahns at 95 MPH for hour after hour until the fuel tank was empty.
It had a 150 W/channel Pioneer stacking non working stereo, and huge speakers on the rear shelf with an illuminated "Pioneer" logo wired into the lights. I was an electronics technician and it turned out to be an easy fix, so I had an awesome (for the time) sound system to boot!
Steel Ro-Style black and silver wheels with oversized 175/70/13 tyres and an aftermarket black foam rubber boot lid spoiler completed the look.
I worked on the RAF airfields and with access to an enormous runway I learnt how to drive that car to the ragged edge in the dry, the wet and during the winter snow as well. All I did in 2.5 years of ownership was service it, it never needed anything and never broke down. The guy who sold it to me had brought an Opel Manta GT, it looked good but he often told me whilst getting drunk together in the NAAFI bar that he regretted selling it.
When I sold it, I had put about 50,000 miles on it and due to the difference in the Pound to the Deutsch Mark exchange rate I sold it for more than I paid for it.
During my ownership of it, we bought a tatty 1.6 together, prepped it and used it to compete in rallies and rally X events organized by the RAF. I don't remember that one ever having anything serious go wrong with it either and man did it get abused!!
I'd love to own one now, but I live in Thailand now where they were branded as the Isuzu Gemini, they're slightly rarer than rocking horse pooh and having become familiar with the mod cons of modern cars, I wonder if the reality of ownership today would match the memories of ownership from over 40 years ago.
But I am looking forward to the full restoration and the modernizing of it. Although from experience I do wonder if despite their cleanliness compared to early 70s engines, a modern engine will prove to be as robust and low maintenance oa the original?
literally the definition of "just the tip" with that black white stuff with the paint mixing!
But there is a massive hint, if you know about paint mixing. Red and blue together means brown or maroon, depending on the ratio. Add silver and you know it's going to be metallic brown or maroon. No idea on the shade, given that it gets black, grey and white mixed in too. @18:43
My first car was a gemini. A 1975 tx gemini. They are a fun car to learn on. Easy to work on and done right, i got a my g161 bored out a shit load and added twin webbers. People dont realise how light they are. My claim to fame was chopping 253 v8's with it. That was a long time ago. I am almost 50 now and still the car i think about when i reminisce
Ahhh you’re killing us with the suspense! 😂 Can’t wait to see the final product!
The timing on this video is perfect for me! 4 days ago I just bought a 1963 f100 and 25 years ago my first car was a 1964 f100!
This is the one build I've been waiting for the most. My first car was a TD gemini, which I delivered pizzas in too! Thankyou for allowing my younger self to live vicariously through this build. So many memories resurfacing of cruising with mates in my absolute nugget and having the time of my life. Love your work guys!
I'm 54 and my 1st car was a Vauxhall Chevette which in the UK is same sh*t different bucket as a Gemini, big love for keeping it real :)
I’m always amazed how you guys really master the camera/editing/sound track on your videos… pure joy to watch! Thank you so much for elevating the internet!
FINALLY!!!! LOL. Been looking forward to this build since you've had the car Marty. Watched this episode as soon as I saw it.
Your first Gemini brings back memories. I had exactly the same model and colour Gemini back in the young years. Loved it and had fun driving it. Was about to start doing mods with it when I got t-boned by a lady coming through a give way sign and writing it off. It was a sad day in deed.
Hanging out for the next video already.
That interior man… wow.
Every single one I saw in my teens back in mid 90s was junk so that is an amazing feat for that interior
With so much of automotive youtube going to crap, it's great to see two OGs still at it doing what they have done for years!!!!
Other options back then... My first car, the two door Mk2 Escort, which already had a worked 1600 put into it when I brought it, even though it started life as an 1100cc rental car, It ended up with everything from a 1600sport except the diff, I swapped that to the 4.44 diff from the Panel van & once I worked the engine even more with 1300 pistons, hotter cam, even bigger Webber carb, new extractors that were a vast improvement over the sports extractors... it was much faster than an Ausy RS2000, the only thing that was missing was the Capri vented disc's and split kit for the type 16 callipers to make it really awesome!
but there was also the Vauxhall Chevette, and the ones that shocked people because they were much faster than they looked, the Hillman Avenger & Morris Marina!
Sick bro super excited for you. Days of work set in 20 minutes video doesn't do it justice that's hard Yakka mate good work.
Ah man, so excited for this build! I just thought this car was such a weird nugget back all those years ago when you guys bought the car, and about three years ago one of my now best mates had a C Kadett. Best shitbox ever. Had a tape stuck in it that only played 'what is love' and I miss that car every day. Can't wait to see the result!
5 years ago i thought you would beat me in the resto race. Mine kadett c coupe is just done. Love seeing this marty
I can't believe I've been watching you guys for 15 years, when you guys did stuff in the driveway 😂😂. Cheap mods 😂 . Your channel has grown so much .
As someone who still owns their first car After 35 years (1979 AMC Spirit with a AMC 360 V8 swap) who also used to deliver for Domino's, I will be following this series.
So glad this is finally happening. You must be beside yourself.
