Filmed from an analog Hameg scope. The download contains a slightly cleaner looking video of this track (recaptured from a Tektronix 5103N oscilloscope).

It's a really huge part of mathematics that's basically about finding the gradients and areas of curves.

I've never seen a song where the waveform is also a freaking music video. You sir are nuts.
destroyerofcomedy not really no, I forget how to spell it, but he's using a device that translates audio into visuals, there's a hole culture around it, though this man makes the most.
Fhjd Ghcfhc it's an ociliscope and it shows voltages relative to ground over time. However, this method of using them is a bit more complex. As I understand it (keep in mind I don't know very much about this and some of the things I say may be incorrect) the left and right audio channels control the horizontal, and vertical axis, respectively. And depending on the intensity of the voltage, (and where it is relative to ground) you can change the position of a single dot. and if you change it fast enough you can make it appear to draw shapes and lines.
Specifically an X-Y oscilliscope, AKA a vectorscope. Oscilliscopes only show monophonic waveform, Vectorscopes convert L-R stereo into X-Y planar images.
Is it a song whose waveform is a video... or is it a video where the audio representation of the video makes a song? The cool part is that it's a reversible process so those two statements are equivalent. I think the more accurate description is that he creates mathematical equations that we can perceive both as sound and sight :)
The wave form is what you're seeing through an oscilliscope.
Not only does it produce coherent images, but also coherent music

The way this escalates is wonderful. It starts so simple. Just showing off the basic principles of how the visuals and the sound create eachother. And then Fenderson cracks his knuckles, says "OK watch this" and blows our collective mind.

3:15 is the best part. This needs to be the future of electronic music! Insane visuals with this!!
Funny enough Clark and Warp did a video on RUclips called Super Scope some _years_ ago and it had a lot of views, but it was a flash in the pan.
This is nothing new. What Jerobeam doesn't do on the other hand is _constantly_, rapidly flash the visuals and blast you with Polybius-style mindhack bullocks; they're demos that last a good long while between scenes.
Adoxo, who did the oscilloscope videos for Clark, also collaborated with me on this track: ruclips.net/video/hhqsDlRBxHk/видео.html (Asteroids)
The difference is that here the visuals are drawn by the sound you're hearing.
Agree reminds me of Aphex Twin
There is already such music, search for IDM artists ;)
Personally, 5:02 is my favorite part because of the 3D picture and then dissolving into the resolution and arpeggiation of the chord. So GOOD!

I've been watching this video since 2016 and I sill think it is an incredible work of engineering art. Incredible visuals, outstanding sound, and it all mixes and flows so well that you could never tell they belong together. The amount of detail put into this is so fine tuned that every visual means something and draws from the tone of the music and the depth of the trip the story follows. It is almost like a deep fall into the world of wonderland where you hit a rock on the way down and have to fight your way out.
Honestly, I would say that this is the best music/music video combination ever created.

I love how simpler shapes like lines sound like analogue subtractive synths but complicated shapes sound like frequency modulation synthesis because it basically is. These are so awesome. It's like an alien went to an rave and tried to recreate it from memory the next day, but doesn't 100% understand the concept of music and focused way more on the shape of the waves than the sound. The visuals alone are so wild but knowing that they're also responsible for the sounds I'm hearing just turns my brain inside out for a few minutes.
My one and only criticism is maybe what you're shooting for with these, but if they were a tiny bit more cohesive from a musical standpoint I would love these even more. I'd love to have a song like this got stuck in my head. I can't help but imagine what a 2x2 matrix of these would look/sound like, where each cell represents a different 'instrument' with their sounds layered on top of one another; I also think four independent pieces interacting with one another musically and visually in this way would be insane. Running different sounding elements through color filters separately and then layering them together would also be really cool, like different sounding colorful lines all occupying the same space.
