Spot on, they get play time and sell in mass for 30-50c each. They are used for LMS (before competitive was removed from f2p), get mass points then get bonded and buy maul handles, usually last 3-4 days before detection but each bot can easily make 20m+ before being banned

They're bots. they would walk out when you entered portal. it's been fixed to have them stay now, however kicking them out is easy as you just have to get aggro from a monster in the room and let the bot detect the room is busy...my favorite is killing them by having the lizardmen jump on them. they automatically tele out after 3-4 stomps if they're not dead.

At 8:51 with the Lumbridge Church bots, my theory is that these are decoys to make it harder to report players who hand off real-world traded gold. This is a popular spot for sellers to meet with buyers, if you have enough decoys it makes it harder for them to detect who's trading gold back and forth. This would also explain why they suddenly log out at the same time (because the gold trade is over).

They're probably also used to isolate the source bot cell. If you imagine each bot farm as an individual cell. To protect one bot cell from another if they get banned they need to isolate each of the cells. That's probably what these church goers are. When they all logged off or swapped worlds and you saw others log back in you probably actually witnessed the mutli-world multi-cell trade isolation occuring.

If you go to the woodcutting guild on W302 around 9pm-10pm CST, you'll find multiple farms trading their logs to one account in a similar fashion. The accounts are typically low combat levels, but almost never level 3, and always have either 11 or 13 farming. I assume its multiple farms because the accounts appear to have in-game uniforms, and the "boss" they all trade is usually dressed similarly but slightly different. The accounts will pop into the world at the same time as the others, trade the "boss" one by one, and log out. Some of the names on the accounts are also similar to these in the video, [number] [word] [number]. While I was getting my woodcutting cape I reported these accounts multiple times, but I'd always see the same accounts the next night..

The farm in lumbridge is terrifying... What would be the purpose? Its simulating a perfect language for mapping the anti cheat detections capacity to track, ban, and monitor the way it picks up on herrings shuffled in and out of order.
The size alone shows what kinda purpose it has. If it tripled, would the detection system slow down? Can it be overwhelmed with forced focuses strategically? It's not doing any actions so it's not a high priority.. spooky implications

I know exactly what this is. This is name expansion.
So, how do you circumnavigate a limit? You find a way around, or through. The limit here is that someone is likely figuring out a new name format to being *PUMPING* out bots. If you test by creating X per world and log in / out, it has a higher chance of updating your play time / standard name check.
If the 4 number 6 character 2 number name system is being called out for being too "botlike", it could be pretty simple to create bots with names similar to regular RSNs based on a few parameters (like replacing specific characters from a semi-rng name splicing alg, so "Deep_Fried69" would become "D3EP_Fr13dbg" or some similar combination, basically makes 1 realistic name into many many realistic names)
So in other words, get your unique usernames now, new formats are being explored, which means maaaaaaaaassive bot explosion on the horizon. Could be that a hard to detect botting method is being explored further and more resources are being funnelled into it as well.
