The worst part about this is that it's gp generated by the game. Like gold duping, these players weren't abusing markets, but instead generating cash out of thin air, thus inflating the economy. Much worse for the community at large than simple gold farming

A big part of the items the gold farmers generate are eventually turned into gold so it's not that big of a difference.

Back in the day was used to use those eggs to steal people's items in a POH. I don't remember how they would smuggle them but I know it used to be way easy. How it would work is you would have someone bring a full inventory of valuables or just junk and one valuable to your POH. We would have at least one account with an egg trying to give it to the guy we were scamming repeatedly. Ask them to price check whatever item you were trying to steal. As soon as they price checked the party hat or whatever you were trying to steal, the egg would fill that inventory slot and the price checked item would end up on the floor. Kick everyone from the house and lock it and wait for it show up on the floor. We stole billions of gp this way and it was nearly a year I was part of this before it was patched. None of my accounts or mules got banned from these incidents and jagex DEFINITELY knew what was happening. Super sketchy company.
I lost a bgs way back in the day from this scam. Put it in price checker and they used an egg on me. Pretty sure its a different egg tho
Can confirm this bugged the inventory to slot the omega egg in place of the item inside the price checker forcing it to act as a dropped item once then menu closed.

There were many ways one could smuggle items back then. All you would have needed was a CFT (controlled force teleport). Barb assult itself WAS a cft lol. you would smuggle sled and back then any emote done while in sled form would stack, meaning you could infinite stall. So you would infinite stall the same server tick your team climbed down the ladder and you could run around runescape, end the stall, and your team would be forced into the match from anywhere in runescape. Using this you could smuggle capes and other items into barb assult like say an imp box then bank them from within. You would also smuggle them via tutorial cutscene as this actually placed your character in a barb assult instance, which you would then break the cutscene using other various glitches (this was an invis btw) and take them that way. These types of bugs could also be used to smuggle the icons outside. I have many fond memories of abusing the shit out of this minigame back in the day with my glitch team lol

Cocky developer and a shitty review process. They bet they were so confident that their egg deletion code was so good it would never be an issue. I work with similar cowboy coders and it does not surprise me at all this happened.
And the tbow spawn was due to someone showing mod gee what not to do. They had a pretty girl told her not to spawn random items incase they forget to remove it, forgot to remove it because he was probably thinking about how good she looks, and it ended up in live. Mod Mat K detailed what happened on a podcast so they added a QA check of checking the sum of the values of items spawned after a world being live for 5 minutes, which should catch any high value items being accidentally spawned.

I don't think it's shady, really. It definitely could be, Jagex has some real big issues, like holy crap, but if they wanted to make sure it was at the top of the item stack changing the value of the item is the way to do it - and 100,000,000 is an easy, high number that'll obviously put it at the top.
It's something that 99.999% of developers will do, just slap some random number in when it doesn't really matter - the eggs aren't alcheable or sellable and *should* be deleted every time, so a value of 100m or 100k doesn't mean any difference at all, other than three zeroes when you're editting the item's info.
I think it's just someone slapping a random high number in, not thinking it'd be an issue since they aren't supposed to ever be able to get out of barb assault, and even if they did they're not tradeable, sellable, alcheable or anything...

I was able to hit one of those accounts at the lava maze that were dying instantly because I was able to hit them before they died I got the loot. To my surprise I picked up 300 mil cash. I reported the names to jagex thinking there was a dupe And never heard back. Wish I could have got more of them.

There's only a few items in the game with an alch value above 1M. Minigame smuggles have been a popular type of glitching since minigames with special items first started getting added to game. Seems very strange that a jmod puts 100m as the alch price, definitely wouldn't be difficult for a jmod to make an extra 10k per month by adding something like this in the game and abusing it every day coming home from work.

I was thinking to myself that it was obviously a joke but I had wondered if anybody could find a way to sneak the eggs out of BA. I never thought it could happen, until I saw the stuff Rendi can pull off and how far he could break the game. Now, I'm 100% those eggs were smuggled. Crazy stuff, great vid!

Def fishy, no way no mods knew about that for the whole time. Why would an untradeable even have a value that high, even if it was never meant to be smuggled out of a minigame. You'd think the value would be set to 1gp or something just in case it did ever get smuggled out.

I do think that's weird af, but I'm not sure how these numbers generate in the game. We've seen plenty of examples of items tagged with some ridiculous, unforeseen value being immediately nerfed few hours/day after release.
Hell we don't even know whether their claims are true or not. In any case Jagex doesn't have an emergency line for every little suspicious action.

Collector gets filled with Omega Eggs. Gets a yellow egg, right click to use on Healer. Healer pafts. Collector uses egg on healer. BA recognizes this as a legitimate action. Moves Collector to Healer to use egg on Healer. Game mechanics were followed, Omega egg ignores check.

Holy shit, when I did the barb hard diary, I was placed with a bot that kept stalling the last round with the Queen and omega egg... He just kept griefing and making us restart the round.
Conspiracy Theory Time: Someone at Jagex was involved. They raised the value of the egg and then quietly set up a bot-farm to exploit it and make a bunch of money on the side. Now Jagex is being hush-hush about it because it's an internal thing.

When collector picks up yellow egg his job is to give it to the healer who is meant to dip in poison. May have been easier to tele as healer? The yellow egg was the one that was 100m also I dunno about the finished omega egg

I think about this all the time! I wish more of the world population enjoyed/understood Runescape and we could just have full-on media crews developing hit RS series and movies. Some of the actions they are doing look like what rendi was doing stacking interfaces and then getting around certain system checks by using forced teleports. It seems like there may be many applications and options for that kind of bug
This has already been known for a long time. Stackable interfaces and delaying exp/actions in game was well known before rendi made videos, he just put them in the spotlight and got banned for it.

I’m not super familiar with all the current bugs out there but with the little I know it seems to be a version of that same exploit. Definitely not trying to point any fingers as to who’s doing it though. I have 0 information on that

In theory what we have seen in Rendis latest videos where he smuggled bunch of LMS items would have worked for the smuggling the Omega egg.
In fact I believe the exact same method was used and here's why. Typically when leaving a minigame or the area in a valid way such as Teleport, Surrender, Death, Log out/log in, the game recognises this and reverts any minigame items,boosts and other features such as the coloured rings around the character.
A way to invalidly leave a minigame is by stacking a bunch of interface and que a forced teleport behind it, there's a forced teleport at the inferno which is where the player with the green healer ring was spotted. Here's why it's a healer and not the collector, on a collector you would still have to pick up the eggs and in doing so you would lose an stackable interface each time you perform an action, while you can simply chill on the healer role with a bunch of interfaces stacked and a qued forced teleport behind it and simply wait for the the collector to pass the eggs over.
Also I can confirm there was a bunch of "bots" wearing similar gear like the once in the video around the timeline the "smuggle" was happening, as I was burnt from the game I occasionally logged in and only did stuff like BA with randoms at the time. I noticed this Dragon/Granite armor wearing players that would perform their roles so poorly to the point where the team wouldn't get any points or it wasn't a viable option to do BA with them and even when you got to wave 10 with them on the team they would always leave or frustrate other players by failing their role over and over till someone left.
At first I thought those were alt accounts from players who provide BA services trying to sabotage random games in order to frustrate players into not doing BA with randoms rather pay for their services, some players speculated that those players are bots and some that those are Venezuelans, some even pretended to be Venezuelans but a player on the team confirmed that their grammar is way to broken for it to be true. I tried to "stalk" and grief those players for awhile and even managed to make them log out for a couple of hours, some of them spoke fluent English,some Broken, some Spanish and some wouldn't type anything at all. Some of those players were super aggressive with me,some polite and some would just log off or run off. I couldn't figure out at the time what those players were doing, but now it all kinda makes sense.

Bots use injection and skip so many clicks and perform obvious and easily detectable moves. Been this way for years. There’s no doubt about it that jagex is corrupt as hell.

While there is some truth, the duel arena would clean a lot of this. Still, gp price dropped insanely, especially at the end of their bug abuse, which makes sense they influenced the crash a lot.

Jagex is stupid. This exact bug *omega egg smuggling* occurred in rs2 and I can't believe they would make it viable again by setting the price of eggs to something as ridiculous as 100m.
Guess that explains why the whole economy has crashed.
Bots are plaguing kurask at fremennik slayer dungeon right now. They're on every single world and it's at least 3 separate bot groups
Used to smuggle BA a lot back in the day and it was common for 1 of the 5 people to stall when entering a game to stay in the lobby with things like emotes, interfaces or even items like keg of beer so that they could trigger an action to force the team out of the game with items/BA icons etc (you could also stall inside the game after the rest were forced out). The lobby door is where jagex would put all their checks and filters to stop you leaving with items (you can notice lag when trying to enter/leave) so the trick was getting out of the lobby without going through the door, we used to just kill ourselves when it was easy to smuggle but a force teleport would be even better.
The reason for the healer class specifically having the bug is because the normal yellow eggs also had the high value, not just omega, so they got handed them by the collector. Probably a part of the method they were using.
I remember people were talking about a potential dupe in the lobbies when soul wars was released. we were all worried about a rollback
So pretty much what happened was inferno had a force teleport, meaning if you stack the games interfaces it stalls the instant teleport. Creating an egg wouldnt make the value. I think somewhere in the code the healer is the only one that can pick up the egg or something like that. After a full inventory they would collapse all the interfaces causing a force teleport back to the inferno. If you were killed in the wilderness you could not receive any money. But if you suicided then you could pick up the cash stack, this was before the death gravestone mechanic. Then after that came out you could just pay a fine and receive your items back

Jagex are always such idiots keeping the same IDs from minigame items to regular items... they did the same mistake in RS2 when they introduced Dungeoneering, they never learn 🤣

Me and my neighbor crashed whips from 8.5mil to 3.5 mil over night.
Before the GE, you would have to stand trade.
We would buy Guthan chain skirts for 900k each, then one account would say buying guthan chain skirt 9mil cash while the other account traded people selling whips for 8.5 mil.
Thinking they would make 500k in a trade off they would hand over an item worth 8.5 mil for a relatively new and uncommon item the Guthan Chain skirt worth 900k.

ive seen someone actually made private osrs alternative before , my thoughts - they are able test anything related on bugs, cuz having admin rights and easy to encrypt any new updates on actual osrs. so i think some of them works in that way.

I witnessed the BA bots at the inferno on numerous occasions, I have a screenshot as well because I knew something wasnt right.
every time he zooms in on a bot, or shows a picture of the BA ring guy in inferno, I get heavy creepy pasta vibes.

It’s probably incompetence, and a code like that wouldn’t immediately fix it because the processes used to take advantage of it work around exactly that. Keeping certain interfaces open that prevent the game from accounting for an item’s location, dying with the item in the same tick that it’s invalid location would be run, etc.

I may be wrong, but I think you can give the egg at any stage to any person. The collector just has to load it into the hopper. So if the healer has it, maybe it is because only something the healer can do caused the egg smuggle? Possibly related to the healing pool?

Don't know if you're already aware of it but there are a lot of bots making blood runes with 95+ rc, they tend to be around 50-70cmb and have all very similar stats. Considering how slow the xp is there they are running for a very long time undetected.

Does the math add up for how much they make to their expenses, their house, their car? How does someone making 40-70k year able to live the life of a millionare? Shell companies connected to them? What's the most profitable thing about OSRS in the game? The memberships? The gold. Follow the money. What about contracts between Jagex and gold selling companies? What about their massive database that shows them where people spend the most money and who buys what and when and for how much - did you think outside the box? Maybe Jagex is the one running these bot farms, just not directly. Shell companies? Follow the money, follow the rabbit. The hole goes deeper than you think.

If only the healer is ever seen outside of BA, it could be that the healer is the only one able to smuggle the eggs out. Something with the coding perhaps. No idea really.
It's because healer is the first one to receive the eggs from the collector. Being handed an egg wouldn't break the healer's stall and they can just force tele out with an inventory of yellow unfinished omega eggs since their value was adjusted at the same time.
It's things like these are why I started a Hardcore Ironman and haven't looked back. I'm playing my own game.
