    I actually think gnome agility being level 1 is great. When I was a young noob I remember finally becoming a member and wanting to train agility, and realizing I was going to have to explore the majority of the members map to get to gnome stronghold to "unlock" agility. It felt like agility was the reward for discovering the gnome lands. You're so tempted to get it because you see this shortcuts all over the map, but it isn't just given to you, you have to go discover it. Maybe in 2024 noone plays F2P though and won't have this same experience of exploring members, but still.

    • @HeroGuy3
      @HeroGuy3 3 месяца назад +25

      I've experienced both sides of it
      I got members as a kid and one of the first things I did was scramble over white wolf mountain to visit the gnome stronghold. I doubt I would have done that if Draynor rooftops was in the game and accessible.
      However I came back for the first time since 2006 last year and was confused that there was both an agility course in such an easily accessible part of the game, and yet the course itself was inaccessible. So back to the Stronghold I went, this time out of obligation rather than curiosity.
      I 100% support Draynor AND the Stronghold courses being accessible at level 1, though I think the Stronghold XP rates should be buffed, or Draynor nerfed so that it is still worth the pilgrimage. (ignoring the quest icon wearing elephant in the room)

    • @ilikeshiba
      @ilikeshiba 3 месяца назад +2

      I just started playing for the first time really (since way back) and figuring out how to start training agility was one of the most complicated early game tasks I had to figure out.
      It was neat to go on that adventure; I took a boat to karamja and then to ardougne (didn’t realize I could go directly from rimmington for a very long time) and got to see a lot of new things. It’s too much new stuff all at once though and I needed to do a lot of research to figure out what to do. I’m playing as a hardcore Ironman so every new area I go to is a lot of extra cognitive load. I think it doesn’t make sense to lock such a critical feature in such a deep area. So I’m pleasantly surprised to see this change.
      Despite playing as a hardcore Ironman I’m trying to play casually and inefficiently so making more of the game stuff you can just stumble upon and figure out on your own would be nice rather than requiring so much research so early.

      there's lots of jaded elitist players who make their personality about xp rates never increasing, and they think that QOL will lead to the downfall of the game when in reality they're not the people updates are for, and we have evidence to prove that every update of this sort has lead to great benefits for the game's health long term. Like Infernal mages could drop mystic ornament kits to recolor mystic to the same dark shade the infernal mages have. Cockatrice could drop a limpwurt sack (holds 28 limpwurts). Giving Killerwatts an early powered lightning staff would be cool; it'd be a nice option before the Warped Sceptre for irons. Maybe it could get a bonus against aquatic creatures, so you could take it to Kraken or use it as a budget Zulrah magic weapon!
      Maybe give Cave Bugs something, too. You could get an early Ranged focused amulet (think the Amulet of Magic, but ranged) that you string with their antennae.

    I definitely agree with the: Make Slayer on low level mobs more interesting, rather than removing them. Sure the low level monsters are not that interesting... So, make them more interesting, please?
    As someone who only recently-ish started playing OSRS, Slayer in the early game was actually really neat to get out and see the world, figure out where all the places are where the monsters live. Which actually gives me an idea: Implement a checklist/log for the low level slayer monsters, that indicate where you have completed a Slayer Task. Once you complete all locations for a particular monster, you get a satisfying little green checkmark, and maybe some extra slayer points to work with. This would encourage variety of locations, and scratch that completionist-itch at the same time

      @Kevin-Snap it'll go down the same way shadow went down when we learned about toa bots. People freaked out the price tanked even though the bots were their a while before we noticed and it bounced back as if nothing happened
      Dks have been out since osrs released. It was steady around 3m, spiked up and down until dt2 released crashed from 4m to 2m and went back to 3m in 2 months. Since varlamor announcement it has slowly risen to 5m and I'm ready to bet 100m that on Friday 22nd it'll be max 3m. And this whole time the daily volume was about 1k a day.
      Prices are mostly about perceived value and speculation not rarity and usefulness, look at lightbearer vs berserker ring lightbearer similar volumes but lightbearer is far more recent but berserker ring is 1.5m more
      But if you compare them in max gear on a max account at dks berserker gives you 5% more dps against supreme but lightbearer gives you double sgs specs and either way you have down time

      This 'rebalance' is like trying to patch a leaking boat with a bandaid, or adding speed fins to a brick and hoping it stops sinking. The problem is that most of the skills are just completely outdated - they dont need small QOL changes, they need a complete rework. All of these updates wil have limited effect and everything will just become dead content once the community figures out the most efficient method in like 2 weeks.

    I just got a Rock Golem from stars while I was working! Would be nice to see other options get *something* going for them.
    I think it'd be cool to give Killerwatts an early powered staff that shoots out lightning. Weaker than the Warped Sceptre, but also available much earlier. Maybe it could get bonuses against aquatic monsters!
    Another Slayer monster that could use a unique drop: Cave Slimes. Why would you ever bother with them as they are? Some kind of early "ring of slime" that gives some weak defensive bonuses could be interesting, though it'd need something to compete with the Explorer's Ring 1. Maybe it could speed up collecting Slime at the Ectofuntus?
    The new "dual weapon" mechanic coming with Varlamore opens up an interesting option too. Rockslugs are pretty spiky looking, so what if they dropped stone daggers made from their spikes? Slug Shivs would be an early Stab option with this "dual weapon" mechanic, and since they're daggers, you could also put a small magic bonus on top.
    On another note, I'm VERY happy to see Make-x for mixes. Would be a good way to get some extra Herblore XP with my fishing.

Or that magic is tied to teles and magic defense. EoC absolutely sucked, but one thing it did good is make all 3 combat styles pretty equal. Random thing on your point at 9:00 about making slayer "fun" at lower levels. What you're suggesting by "fun" is "rewarding" and "exciting" but the problem is that even with higher level unlocks of slayer giving actually useful and good items that scale into the lategame, these lategame items have 0 value in trade because slayer is supposed to be a repeatably farmable skill; that being said I think it'd be good if they did do big overhauls to the spawns, spawn rates, drop tables, locations, etc. of certain early game slayer tasks and put "useful" early account items in specific slayer monsters than they would be more interesting to at least kill for items on their drop tables, but I believe slayer is a skill where it's always going to suffer from items being too easy to acquire since the skill needs to be repeatably farm-able as it's a skill in general

    • @unsettledrs

      if you look through the comments, you'll find many players who have tried the game but abandoned their experience specifically because of run energy being such a barrier to getting into progression, and quoted the energy change being an amazing change. It takes 12.5 minutes to regain 100 energy when you spawn into the world, something that literally halves your ability to explore and do content. Pretty tough to weigh on a new player first experiencing the game, a lot of us that have grown up with the game are fine with it, I'm okay if it doesn't get changed too; I'm not saying energy management or weight reduction should be removed. I'm saying the energy system should be reworked to be easier to manage because the mechanic is extremely old and hasn't modernized with the game, and quite literally single-handedly turns new players away.
