- Union Pacific's 4014 and 844 in Stowe Creek Valley, Wyoming, on the grade to the Altamont and Aspen tunnels. Also, the run by on 5-12-19 near Wahsatch, UT. The special 150th anniversary steam powered train is returning to Cheyenne from a trip to Ogden.
Considering the massive interest from people all over the world who have made huge efforts to come to witness this awesome event of history and to have filmed it along its entire length from Cheyenne to Ogden and return (which is an absolute coup for the UP Marketing Department) I am amazed that AMTRAK made the decision to no longer let the beautifully restored J class 611 as well as the restored Daylight 4449 run their magnificent runs on their home territories in the awesome Smoky Mountains and along the Columbia River respectively. Sights to behold, especially watching it on a 75" in 4K. Hopefully, even though it is a financial decision, like always, I hope somehow that these other two beautiful steam locomotives get to do what the Big Boy 4014 and the 844 have just pulled off in the future and that rail fans will film and document those events in 4K for many of us people who are a long way away. And as a footnote can you imagine if these same two locos travelling through the Donner Pass etc in the dead of winter through thick snow how awesome that would look on camera. Just a few thoughts from the Train Lord in South Australia. Cheers, I have thoroughly enjoyed binge watching everything that people have put on RUclips of this event, different qualities of filming (and yes people everywhere which actually adds to the event) but nevertheless interesting to watch. Keep up the good work.
Such a beautiful sight two of Our National Treasures steaming away across the country.
Thank you for sharing with us.
El tiempo es oro estimado ,gracias
This train just has a look, like its saying, "Tell me what needs to be moved where and get out of the damn way." Magnificent machine! Great video!
With all the steam venting from the locomotives.... it looks like a fire breathing monster.... what an incredible machine.
I am impressed. Brought to happy tears. Anyone else have the same reaction?
Yes it did. I renumbered one of my Rivarossi big boys to 4014! Used microscale decals off ebay
Warms my heart to see so many 4014 videos, I can not see them all with the amount posted, each have great shots and angles of his journey, so good to see the Steam King roaming his domain again.
Hard to believe there is a Big Boy running again, I found myself earlier after his return counting the drivers to see if there was _really_ 2 sets of 8, then I re-look at the road number for that 40 of the 4000 class followed by looking at the location of the shield with his number. :)
Also I find it hard to not replay him running past and watching the side-rods whirl and 16 drivers spin, or pausing the video to see the whole of him at certain points just to admire 4014 and let it sink in more he is not a static display but has steam and smoke flowing out and sporting new paint and polished metal.
I cant get enough how beautiful that machine looks
Big Boy is really working (and thundering) now! 4014 must be settling in to smooth running!
Such a great sight to see these huge black monsters thundering by. Reminds me of the trains that passed by our farm house when I was a little boy in the early 50's; what excitement!!!
4014 is just lopping along, no stress on it all. Looks like they're having great time too.
The position of the reverse link always gives away how hard she is working. If you watch the 844 at 75MPH video, the link is almost center, valve movement is minimal between admission and exhaust, amazing what they can do, and no foreign parts either.
@@clintwilde1048But as they come around the first bend 4014 is doing the work and 844 is along for the ride. This is a teat ride for 4014, so 844 was jus along for the ceremony at Ogden. As for the parts, of course everything was made in the UP steam shop, the Chinese have very steam locomotives left and they're being beat to death in the steel mills.
Im still curious how much that diesel locomotive may be contributing. Does anyone know why its in the train?
Steve Wetzel dynamic braking for the train, power to the passenger cars, and in case they break something. It's just there for safety, not for any lack of pulling power.
@@stevewetzel7457 The diesel provides electricity to the passenger train and is there to push the steamers home in case of serious breakdown. It is not doing any pulling. On flat ground the BigBoy by itself can pull a train 5.5 miles long.
Truly "Once in a lifetime experience " . Thanks 👍.
The strongest steam up locomotive in the world. Amazing
Thanks for sharing. Being born in 1959, I missed the steam era but I did grow up along the old Southern Pacific LA to New Orleans line.
AMC401 Nash I lived in southern New Mexico. I remember SP rolling through there too
Excellent job capturing both of them beauties!
I'm so glad to see these great machines travel together. What a beautiful sight. On the other hand there is also a little taste of bitterness that those great times when mainly those steamers roamed the land are forever past an gone. If i had the money i would revive all those steam engines that are scattered across the land and would found a steam only railroad.
Wolfgang Krebl ...I was thinking the same thing
the boys done a great job bring this great engine back to life
I been turning wrenches on her for 2 1/2 years. I think all the nuts and bolts are where they should be 😜
Nothing much in this country but a couple of magnificent steam locomotives, antelope, jackrabbits, and coyotes. But it is beautiful in its isolation. I made a trip from Seattle, to Colorado Springs in a vintage Buick Coupe with a friend of mine in 2009. The trip took us through Ogden, Evanston, Rock Springs, Rawlins, Laramie and Cheyenne before we headed south to Colorado Springs. Some of the most wide open country I have ever seen.
Dios!, que maravilla , causa una profunda emoción, hermoso vídeo, gracias .
Thanks for watching and all of the informative comments.
I wonder when will UP 3985 will run again
Coming around the bend!!!!! Beautiful Hills and Mountains!!!!!!
The best steam train video, with a real feel of the terrain.
👍Great video. Thank you for your time. Most of been awesome to you.
So cool to see the big boy chugging along what a living machine!
Feast for eyes, seeing those two beauties
Immer wieder großes Kino diese Könige der schiene zu sehen.
Great capture....awesome as always....Big like from Romania
Amazing video! Great video shot of 4014!! Can't wait to see her one day!!
Takes my breath away seeing this locomotive along with 844. Gosh I would love to see this. Count yourselves lucky if you are around the area which she will be operating in. Regards from South Africa.
One of the most prettiest trains ever for the union Pacific!she is running very well
Àqq
Even though not a UP fan, it is great to see the big ALCO strut her " stuffe " once again. Can't wait for 1309 to thunder through western Maryland counrtyside. Now if only CSX ( or a BIG powerball winner ) would hand over the $$$$$ needed to get
1604 ( or the Henry Ford Musem Allegheny) back to ride the rails once again
If an Allegheny were ever restored (unlikely though due to costs and maintenance, which might be even more than Big Boy), it would probably be 1601 (since it's been indoors out of the elements for a number of years).
There was a time in the late 1940's when everbody in town would come down to the depot to see the first streamliner come thru.
Thanks to mechanical genius Big Al LaBonte for all his deep knowledge and rebuilding this beast from dah block up. U are a true genius of mechanical engineer abilities. Thanks so much. What a beast u built. IM WOWED 🤔
Is that the same Captain and Shift Commander Al LaBonte Patriot Wing USAF or the same Al LaBonte ex Concorde Captain/pilot? Pmsl
ESTRAORDINARIAS MAQUINAS , SALUDOS DESDE ARGENTINA 👍👍👍👍👍
"Big Boy Does Mach Loop". She's certainly a beauty!
this is truly a beautiful thing,,,,don't know anything about trains,,,that's bad ass,,thank you ☃ was here
beautiful train and beautiful shot !!
Nice to see that the BIG ENGINES still have the power to pull hills.
Encouraging to see as we (NSPS) restore NC& StL 576 .... She will run again!!
Fantastic clip, I had to look @ Google earth to see where the location was (roughly) a lot of road traffic much more than here in Australia anyway thanks for sharing your clip cheers dennis
Beautiful video AND audio. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome. Wish I was there. The filming is a credit to the cameraman for a great job. I have 844 in a 3.5"ga live steam miniature and it's still a big engine.
You were there ? Wow, what a sight. It must have been very cool to have seen this.
Great video with some great shots, thank you. Wasn't expecting this so early.
Glad to see the train is longer now.
Great video.. nice to hear them working. Thank you for sharing..
Hey thats me in the yellow jacket! Great video - I was there with my kitten!
Superb shots of an awesome train ! 👍🏻
Wonderful old machines.
Amazing sight of American History going by.Wish we had more of these Steam Engines around.
it Will causr pollution + time waste + coal waste etc
but still a wonderful invention and sight to behold
@@mypackmypower1996 nope
Cars, truck and planes is the real pollution not steam locomotive
Going back in time that was awesome
I'm liking the long distance shots.
Wow. Great angle. Perfect shot
That smoke. That fuel oil SMOKE. I love it.
Man, I've seen diesels throwing more smoke than that!! She's running great!
They are🙃
@@pineapple9152kereta senja
it is pulling almost nothing;
They both are, my friend, they both are. And Yeah, I've also seen diesels throwing way more smoke than the both of them put together.
They're also not putting in any work here.
Excellent Footage, enjoyed watching 👍😎
Awesome to see it running! Australia.
First I would like to thank you for the video! Your time an dedication is amazing! Only thing about this whole thing is that there is always that darn diesel Attached and running! I would love for them to get rid of it and let the true power of those Streamers do the full load of work!
I feel the same way you do, but it must be a reason -maybe just incase for xtra power, I may be wrong. But like you said, I rather see them big boys there only.
Air brakes for carriages
The steamers are old and are expensive pieces of up history they arent taking chances
So a diesel is there to assist when needed.
Wow, put 3985 in also and pick me up. ♡ T.E.N.
Big like from Romania for your great work
Wow! The Big Boy a beautiful loc!
Even today, steam locomotives like them are still in use.
Great video Dave. You really get an idea of what a beast the 4014 is at :59
yep- here in Sacramento- would be awesome to get SP cab forward running!!
Loving this from the UK 🇬🇧
Great high-def images - well done! God, I want to drive one of those!
Nice little town , heading west leaving you go straight into Utah.
That's a LOT of power for a short train...really cool.
Impresionante. Maravillosas máquinas de vapor.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM AWARDING YOU THE OSCAR FOR BEST PATRIOTIC PICTURE IN MY LIFE TIME. 🇺🇸
Awesome, what a marvelous locomotive. So glad some are still on the road.
Brad Rochin this is the one and only.
I still have to pinch myself to say, this scene is happening in 2019 rather than 1949! :)
extraordinario que pudieran reparar esta maquinas tan , formidables felisitasiones desde ARGENTINA
Gracias amigo por sus palabras simpáticas (estoy en Arizona EUA/USA).

Wow That is One Very Cool Video Thanks For Posting It i Use To See Them When i Was a Kid Where i Live But You Only Seen Them On a Anniversary Year Thanks
Looks like you were on the hill north of my position. Good location. Thumbs up on the video. I like your pans and zooms -- what camera? I'm using Sony FDR-AX53 primarily.
Thanks, I have the same camcorder, still trying to improve the zoom and floating stabilization control operations. I am enjoying your Chino 2019 videos now, very nice.
Beautiful shots!!
Pelo menos ver de perto, estou maravilhado com essa tão grande locomotiva, que coisa linda, como eu queria uma dessa em miniatura, sou ferreomodelista. Apaixonado por trem.
Passengers must be enjoying their trip!
Wow! Thanks for posting
Que hermoso viajar en tren el tren antiguo si nostálgico
Enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing.
The king is on the move.
I see no reason for a thumbs down on this piece unless disgruntled that is isn't a Conrail or NYC.then it is just envy.
These have some soot now and then. Awesome!
I was wondering what the hum sound problem was..., it’s some knob in a plane buzzing everyone’s audio👍🙄 like the copter in the previous vid.. follow the train
oh how many trainpotters... Super! Here I successfully went ... uniquely ...
She's in Rochelle Hellinois right now and looking good......✌
Great video Dave, thanks for sharing.
Мощь и красота!
Tolle Sache das der BigBoy wieder fährt
Wow!!! Beautiful footage!!!
Thank you, I always learn a lot watching your videos
En realidad las locomotoras a vapor tienen un encanto que no pueden superar las diésel o eléctricas.
おぉぉ、ついに復活したんか
迫力が半端ない
👍awesome footage! great job!👌
This is part of History n devopment.
I just love how the horn sounds!
Maria Fumaça!!!🤗
Amo trem!! Lindo demais.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Shes Alive! Waited 9 years for this.
Tyler McNeil it’s a he the locomotive’s name is big boy not big girl
Amazing. Simply amazing..
I could have done without that plane...
Grab your coloring book and find a safe space.
@@Guest-at-the-Asylum Speaking as a bit of an aerospace nerd, we're all here to see/hear the magnificent beast, pissant cessnas be damned.
