SAURIA is a brutal, primordial, dark-fantasy world. It's full of dangerous prehistoric wildlife, acursed cultists, pirates, bandits, and numerous warring factions. Survival is the only real goal of most of SAURIA's inhabitants.
In this video; I'll be going over the backstory and lore behind one of the most ancient races of SAURIA; the Arctic Saurians. A species of humble and secretive hunter-gatherers who live deep within the dangerous wilds.

This is the second of at least four SAURIA Lore videos I'll be making, spread out throughout the series. The final two videos will be about the BlueSong and the Fell, and will be released after the third episode is finished.

The way Helionyx's face drops when he realises what he's done and starts apologizing to the smilodon is heartbreaking it's amazing how you were able to get so much emotion into a face so foreign to us humans plus your delivery just absolutely makes it amazing, I absolutely love this short film
I can see the relief from the mother smilodon knowing her child will be safe.
"There were never very many of us" - Treebeard, The Two Towers. You've given me a Tolkien-esque sense of wistfulness with the story of the Arctic Saurians' plight. I hope they find a way to weather this storm and keep the balance of the mountains!
And hopefully the figurative Saruman in this story gets the same treatment! Though if it's inverted I'd still like to see that despite how painful (in a good way) it would be.
@@DragonKing-te9wy Honestly the Bluesong Empire is something of a hybrid of both Sauron and Saruman. Apparently obsessed with control and order like Sauron - himself playing a not overtly villainous role at one point in Middle-Earth's history! - extended by Saruman's drive to tame nature and bend it to his will when necessary. I'm curious to discover if there is a Morgothian figure in this Sauria universe. Whether an evil incarnate from whom all lesser evils are begotten even fits this sort of project.
@mateuszjokiel2813 Well written! I've even associated the Blue Song with the materialistic naturalist seeking to regimentize an inherently wild world.
I think we may soon see a Morgoth-esk character in the Elder Ones (if I remember that name correctly).
The near extinction of the Arctic Saurians and their culture reminds me of one time watching this one Ralph Breaks the Internet video. It had all the Disney Princesses speaking their native languages, all except two. One was Moana simply because a Polynesian dub didn't exist yet... And the other was Pocahontas... Because her language, Powhatan, is extinct... And it was rather haunting to read that with Pocahontas having no audio in that video. It was horrifying to imagine that an entire language is gone.
The fact that the Arctic Saurians are losing their people, culture, and subsequently their language because of invading forces is all too realistic.
Great job with all this. I can't wait until the next Sauria episode.

It's a bit of a shame that we'll only be getting three episodes of Sauria in the forseeable future. I understand why, of course. Running a solo indie project of this scale costs immense effort, and what you have shown us already is incredible. I just feel like a project with so much time, detail, passion, effort, and depth involved deserves to be so much more than just a RUclips series that maybe one or two million people will see. Yes, I am aware of the magnitude of that statement, and I mean it. This deserves to stand alongside giants of the fantasy genre like The Lord of the Rings or The Elder Scrolls. It is more than worthy of hollywood, or at least being put on Netflix.

Probably he already has tought of this but looking at how AWESOME he draws if instead of doing animated shorts he could do more material doing comics I would totally prefer it. I love the animation of certain parts, like how the animals move but apart from that I love as much his drawings as his animation.
I don't want him to be like a content machine for us or anything like that, but if he can express his creativity more in other ways and expand as much as he wants, I don't really care if it's animated videos or comics or... I mean, for me the best part are his ideas and how he show them in his art, not so much that we got "good animation" or something.
A bit of good news, in the pinned comment he says there'll be at least 4! But I totally agree, this is one of if not the best series on youtube

I love the world building you’ve done for Sauria
The lore of these people is both fascinating and somber. They have been suffering a long, slow and tragic extinction. You really cut deep with this one.
I liked how the main character was understanding of what killed his child was just a animals survival but the pain still lived with him enough to kill the beast such a complex story good job
Sauria is such an interesting world. Perhaps think about turning it into a TTRPG game so that we may explore it on our own after the last short film.

I love these lore videos, I love your worldbuilding and your voice is soothing to listen to.
I can't help but notice and appreciate the irony of the helix. The Artic Saurians worship the cyclical nature of the world, the very balance of it all and the helix represents that. The Blue song have unwittingly created their own helix, though a much more negative one. They worship the forefathers, the world they created and left behind. They want to replicate them and thus seek out those who may have the knowledge about them. But in their conquest, their invasion of the mainland...they've pushed the artic Saurians to the point of extinction in their pursuit of their knowledge. If they continue, they will lose the very thing they are seeking before they even find it. Their punishment will be never knowing anything about the culture they idolise, it will forever end up out of their reach no matter how much they try to tame Sauria. I love it
I'm nowhere near skilled enough to pull it off, but I would absolutely love to try my hand at created a cosplay of one of these Saurians. Especially the pachycephalosaurus warrior glimpsed in your sketchbook!

Another fantastic look into the mysterious people of Sauria! I'm now very intrigued by the Forefathers, and what they could mean for the BlueSong. It looks like next episode will show us the most of Sauria and it's peoples we've seen yet!
I can only wonder if Helionyx might take up his father's pursuit of knowledge about the ancients to better fortify his wild home from these new invaders. And I'd love to see him and the now grown Smilodon cub again!

I love these lore breakdowns. This one is especially impactful to me as, at least the part with Helionyx, seems to mimic the message of Sharp Teeth, which has a special place in my mind, as that was the first video of yours I ever saw

I am noticing that anything relating to the "forefathers" have a lot of Pterosaur imagery, and I have seen Green Pterosaur dudes in he trailers and a lot of green swampyness in the bits of Ep3 you are showing
My theory is that these forefathers didn't die out but instead fell from grace, becoming feral in the swamps of sauria
They also seem to have some kind of worshipping or sacrificing circle in the very first trailer. That could lead to some big reveal
That is my thought as well. The same general that killed the bull will also feature in the episode.

the bluesongs motivations now make more perfect sense now, the bluesongs goals, aren't just to take over sauria but also to understand what happen to the previous empire to find out happen to them. also we also get more info other saurian races other from the main four?

I love how the snow makes it look like the statue of one of the forefathers is crying.
It is a subtle detail but it might hint at the true motives of the forefathers or the way the blue song are treating their history or any number of things i can't currently come up with.
The level of detail you put into your world building is always so impressively staggering, and the way you neatly lay it all out in sketchbooks is so satisfying to see and listen to
I just realised that the lands of Sauria could be based on the UK. The map looks very similar and the far north of Sauria is inspired by Scotland.

I’m pretty sure he does his sketchbooks with multiple different mediums like pencil, pen, watercolour, et. cetera. However, I’m not sure if any of it is done digitally.

I screamed happily when i saw that there was a new story about Sauria, this channel has been such a cool project even before the Sauria series and I was glad to see some previous animals too. The background videos make me appreciate it all even more and am glad that we get to see the expansive methods used. I actually showed my mom the channel too and she loved it.
