Tried to look at it as the perfect bag, imagined myself wearing it everywhere but eventually I have to be honest with myself and make an honest comment.
So I'll start with the cons I noticed after going for a few 2-3 day trips:
    1. Untill now filling the bag with a medium travel cube of clothes, one pair of shoes, my toiletries and my 15' laptop with the field case filled made me feel that it all fitted just. Note: verge case not inserted. Maybe that was also the case, the bag in the end is made for 2-3 days of travel. Maybe I just expected too much because I'm in love with the design and the Indiana Jones feeling it gives me and also cause I've paid above 200$ for it. Maybe I liked the design so much that I thought it was possible to have a modular daily carry and take stuff with me for weeks of usage just because it expands a little. So this is a so-so con cause it depends on the expectations of each.
When I think about it though, if I didnt take my laptop and the field case, the travel cube and toiletries would fit in the laptop compartment perfectly, leaving the main compartment literally empty to do with it whatever you want + also use the verge case. So I still have hope to try that and see how it feels.
    2. The bag does not stand on it's own. That didnt bother me in theory but whenever I was in the bus traveling, I had to make sure it was leaned on somewhere where it wouldnt wiggle arround. And whenever I wanted to take out my keys from the key lock in front of my apartments door, I had to make sure the bag was steady leaning on my legs first which made me bother about things I didnt want to bother for just opening a zipper. So now I leave my keys inside the small pocket integrated next to the water bottle space where I can take them in and out of the bag perfectly while carrying it.
    3. The zipper above the bag becomes almost useless when fully expanded/filled. But if you ll try to fill your bag without the laptop like I stated above so you ll have more space left, then I guess you wont need to expand it.
Note: the weight is noticeable sadly sometimes but then again, quality comes with a price, if I had to choose for a lighter one and not getting those quality made materials then it wouldnt be Prima, but just another bag.
And now the pros you ve all been waiting for:
    1. This bag feels indestructible! Like, if it would exist in bigger sizes, the bigger one would be a: One bag for one life! At first I didnt care about materials, just the looks, cause in the end it's supposed to be just a bag.. But it isn't, and I couldn't help but not notice how strong and quality like the materials felt by time which gave me a feeling the money didnt go to waste for just a bag you could accidentally tear off because of extreme usage. So overfill it fearlessly!
    2. The 2 side zippers, one next to the water bottle on the right side and the other on the left with the RFID protection are extremely useful. You can literally have access to all your gear/small stuff/keys you need without needing to stop and take your bag off.
    3. Its adaptability is amazing. In any other bag's case, whatever I wouldnt like, I wouldnt be able to change it since it would be all in integrated in most cases. While with the Prima System, if I dont want the field space, I ll take it out and use the empty space. If I need the verge case only, then I'll use that or the bag + the verge case on the side.
Note: Those clips are addicting.. I just wanna find reasons to keep opening and closing my bag sometimes just to realize again how good they work 😁
Conclusion: Overall this bag is still an amazing bag, somehow every con it has can become a pro because its adaptable so. if you re not sure if it's for you then the best question to make is: What do you need it for? If you like to be flexible and be sure all your nessecities will fit in a 30L bag, then I guess the only thing you ll have to decide if you like the look of it. Cause in the end, if you dont like the look of a car, the engine doesnt matter..
Hope if helped some make a better desicion. Peace :)

So first, great review in regards to thoroughly showing off/displaying the product.
Most of your pros are totally accurate. But Looking at your backpack, I can tell you haven't actually been using it in the real world (not meant to be a insult) for any meaningful amount of time. Because this bag, while made of great materials, scuffs like a pro (specifically the black parts)! And I personally go out of my way keep my bags from getting dirty (e.g. always holding on my lap, instead of setting them on the bus floor, etc).
I'm not trying to convince anyone not to buy it, but the review was so lacking in constructive criticism I feel compelled to comment.
    1) You downplayed the bags weight. Yes, the straps are comfortable but having used this bag for the past [almost] 5 months as my EDC, the weight really starts to nag at you (and that's just the bags weight, not even including the accessories: verge case/field space). I recently picked up the Chrome Industries Barrage bag and, while I recognize its not a like for like comparison, I was gobsmacked at how much less it weighed.
    2) The verge case when inside the bag doesn't rest flat against the bags inner bottom, this causes you to lose a good chunk of storage space.
    3) The main compartment access flap. When full of gear, the key/change zippered pocket becomes practically unusable. I opened it once on a trip and my loose change just came cascading out.
    4) The sternum strap is gimmicky and after sometime, much like the weight, becomes frustrating. You have to dig a finger nail between the two connections to separate them and hooking them together isn't nearly as one-hand breezy as Boundary's inspirational promo video suggests.
    5) The bottom external straps. These are a dice roll, you might get a bag with properly attached [female] strap connections. Mine are so tight that once i get the straps disconnected, it takes a Herculean effort to expose enough of the loop so I can reattach them.
You are right, imo, about it being the best of the Kickstarter bags. But in real world use it still becomes painfully clear that this was a companies first attempt.
If you buy the bag and love it, fantastic! Again, most of the pros this review mentions are accurate. I just don't want anyone to ultimately be disappointment a few months after they've paid $200 because of this videos rainbow and butterfly filter.
Happy to answer any clarifying questions.
Disclaimer: I did not back this on KS, I purchased via the official website.

Good list of negatives. I feel like their newest bag will fix some of these problems, but not necessarily all of them.
I think that #2 is actually one of the biggest downsides to the bag: The Verge cases' integration is not great. It should fill up the entirety of the bottom of the bag and the side as well. That means you wouldn't be able to pull it out of the quick access pocket, but oh well! It's too small to be useful and too heavy to bring with you every day, and it cuts into an additional 2-3 liters that would be easy to access otherwise. Really a baffling design decision.

    • @chasereeves
      @chasereeves  6 лет назад +10

Good words. In my estimation, for what this bag is intended to do (and all the others in this category) it is by far and away better than what I’ve used before. You gotta realize, I’ve had my hands on 8+ bags in this category, and have used some for longer periods of travel. So, to me, to be in this instead of one of those others is a MASSIVE upgrade on a few things that matter a lot to me (looks, feels of the materials). So, weight, learning how not to pack it, etc, are all compromises I’ll gladly make for this sucker!
But you’re right... rose colored tint to this one. (And the next one, I’m realizing :(

Great comment - really helps people understand real-world and long term impressions. I've been feeling lately that his reviews are not as in-depth as it could be, and sometimes feels more like a rundown of the bag's features

      @praxis-cat870 6 лет назад +2

I mean, 30 minutes is a long review! I think it's valuable to remember that this is probably a weeks' worth of use impression -- when you have a ton of things to review, you can't afford to use one bag for 6 months before you give a review.

Ty for selling this for me, I was hesitant along with other bags as I've been watching you videos. Granted my main purpose for the bag is tech stuff and random stuff. Not for camera equipment.
Definitely stands out for me cause of the look its not the typical box shaped bag.

Heres my take on this bag: Leftovers from +tymetaylor
In behalf of photography and video use and from top to bottom:
1- Weight, compared to Wandrd Hexad Access, Chrome Industries Niko Camera Backpack, Peak Design Backpack, F-stop Tilopa backpacks, the PRIMA is the heaviest.
2 - Top compartment, sunglasses pocket, will scratch your unprotected sunglasses because the plastic magnetic key clip receiver is exposed. Needs to be covered inside the Nywool, not outside, I put some felt like fabric with adhesive to cover the circle.
3 - Straps, too thin for the weight and have seams on the sides not just a flat outer strap. The ERRANT pack, not advertised as a photo backpack now are seamless so they are not so rough when heavy loaded. Compared to the F-Stop Tilopa which might have either twice or triple the cushion as its supposed to be used for adventure like the PRIMA. No attachments made yet for straps like the ones possibly in production for the Errant.
Sternum strap is a strap. No elastic to keep it a bit bouncy like some other companies use it until it reaches maximum length of the stronger fabric.
4 - Interior back pocket lets me insert a very long keyboard separated from the rest. (Courtesy of the bags long dimensions)
5- Interior side mesh pocket, it will eject anything that fits loosely, so I carry the RainFly in that pocket on top of a mouse to keep the mouse caged in.
6 - Hypalon EDC case is almost impossible to fit in the mesh pocket due to friction from materials. Almost useful. (HIGHLY LIKELY RETURNING EDC CASE)
7 - Interior zipper pocket keeps loose things from flying away like the mesh pocket. Care needs to be taken when opening if overly full or else things will spill out.
8 - Laptop compartment might be one of the components that adds a lot to the bag weight, possibly Errant design made to correct this. Laptop fits great 15 mac book pro 2012 Era edition. Field space nicely stays in place, but impossible to use if the big compartment is full as will expand into it.
9 - Hypalon by nature shows scratches, you know what you are getting into already.
10- Verge Case, held by the zipper flaps and snap buttons and free floating around and leaving about 5 inches below the bag empty. Dividers are useless if the bag gets expanded since there is no velcro on the expanded fabric, your items will blend together. Hopefully you didn't have a camera and lenses in there. Materials are sturdy and can make the verge useful. Verge case lets my small camera fit with one lens attached by adjusting the necessary divider spacing.
11 - Verge Strap, supposedly a new narrower strap in the works to fix the problem that it can't be used as a shoulder strap because it will rug burn your neck from its use. Too wide climbs up neck, you get the idea. Therefore I carry the verge by hand or inside other bags to protect certain things. Does not have accessories at this time to add to the strap when used as hip strap to make things useful as other brands have attachment points or mesh pockets for say food bars or other items.
12 - MK1 Camera Case (RETURNING THIS ITEM ASAP) Here goes a test of the customer support which was awesome in completing my orders after I asked for my missing items that I had ordered.
    - It does not align with the zipper flap and the snap buttons to lock it in place, and it is shaped like the bag at the bottom and not actually that wide at the bottom leaving wasted space. The main bag zipper doesn't go all the way down, all those wasted inches make the MK1 area below the zipper almost useless unless you arrange all the dividers to place a long lens so its easy to grab it. The dividers come shipped in the bag in a place where the whole area under the main zipper compartment is unaccessible. I had multiple people try to get the zipper and buttons to align, it is not my user error.
    - MK1 Case fills out the entire main compartment turning bag into a boxy rectangle.
By filling the main compartment entirely, there is no room for anything inside the zipper pocket or mesh pocket. Any thing inside will not let the zipper close. Very Tight Fit. The top compartment turns into an envelope, I would not try to place delicate items in there for fear of crushing, like glasses of any kind.
13 - Bag is water resistant for a quick rain, do not ever stay under prolonged rain thinking the zippers are waterproof, as mentioned by Chase. Rainfly needed for prolonged rain. I have had experiences with other bags with zippers in a more hidden areas and the flood happened. Don't wanna test the laptop compartment on the Prima for this.
14 - Mostly all new bags in the market are for small cameras, if you use a PRO-Gripped Camera, not gonna happen. You will have to remove the lens every time you want to use it, and most people will want to keep one lens on the body for a good time while traveling.
15- Still Debating to return it all and finding me a new bag. Wished my F-stop Tilopa bag had removable waist belt as it is my go to bag for photo use. and I'd use it for daily if it could have a smaller footprint.
16- Have taken this bag across the country already and fits perfect in the airplanes personal item area.
17 - Kickstarter backer possibly getting the ERRANT as well and returning the Prima.

This might have been answered already but I was wondering if this bag passes that most important test for one bag travel: Will it fit under the seat in front of you on a plane? I currently have the Arcido Akra thanks to your reviews but unfortunately it’s just slightly too large to put under the seat in front of me and to pass as a backpack/personal item. It’s an amazing one bag travel but it’s about 3-5 liters too big.
Hopefully you or someone has had enough travel experience with this bag to offer some insight!
As always your videos make me want to buy more bags and cause my wife to yell at me for my addiction. But that’s her problem!

I've been rocking a Prima for a while, since Kickstarter delivered. I like it, it's very well made and versatile. I got the full size camera bag insert thingie for when I go on trips (Oshkosk 2018, anyone?) and take my camera gear, and all my action cam shit for filming my paramotor flying. It works great, but I think it IS a little overkill.
Thus I'm ponying up for the Errant pack. My camera is small (Olympus OM-D EM-5 II) and I don't need a full frame DSLR sized bag to fit it in... I think the Errant will be mo bettah. I watched your video on that bag already, and I like it.

A little late to this video review, but I am debating between the Prima, Evergoods CPL24, and Aer Flight Pack 2. You didn't mention either of the other two, but was wondering if you've worked with all 3 and have a recommendation...if I had to have only one (for work, personal, travel, etc.).

Hi I would love to buy the prima system modular travel backpack
But I couldn’t recognise the cost exactly how mush it cost with its camera bag and iPad bag as well
Furthermore do you have a central shop in Egypt or only online shopping
    Thanks in advance

Is this a review of the Prima System 2.0 as currently listed on their website? Or is it the original version?
According to the website they fixed a lot of the issues listed in some of the comments below, such as:
    1. Reducing the overall weight
    2. Redisigninf shoulder and waist straps
    3. Improving sternum strap
    4. More scratch and dirt resistant material on the bottom of the bag
    5. Extended main compartment zipper to increase main storage area
    6. Upgraded foam

I suspect it *could* depending on how you have it packed. But typically I don't think it did.

Cant believe you have Evergoods MPL30 too . I m still considering between two of these bags . Can you give me some comment which one you recommend more?
Because I have to carry some baby stuff with my newborn baby girl plus camera as well. Btw, I already have a big camera which is LOWEPRO Whistler backpack 450. But lowepro one is too big for daily using.
Looking forward your suggestion. Thank you so much

Hey, great video. Question about the main compartment. When you unhook the main clasps, there's a lot more height there, but it's not rolltop. Can you utilise that height for extra storage. It didn't look like, but if not, it feels like a missed opportunity because it could perform like a rolltop. Would be good to know.

    • @chasereeves
      @chasereeves  6 лет назад

That comes down to aesthetic and organization. I like the guide pack for just committing to something for a decade plus. I like this one for easy access to tech, organization, etc. GUide pack you gotta provide all your own org in pouches, etc. (though I do love that top pocket on that thing).

Just took a punt on this as my first entry into the world of premium bags. I was between this and the nomatic travel pack for 2 day travel + one day carry. I got the 6 litre add on to give that boost for long trips. Buzzing for it; hope it delivers the goods! #businesspapers

This bag looks incredible, like amazazing, BUT I've been on a journey to find a camera backpack that has the back access and comfy straps - not too big and not too small. Currently my Peak Design Everyday backpack (which is great) hasn't been cutting it for me. It's getting small, the straps aren't uber comfortable, and that side access has caused me issues (like when I didn't realize it was open and a lens fell out onto a pier!!). Can you make a recommendation or point me to a video of your favorite back-opening camera backpack that's more than 21 liters. Thank you!

Hey Chase! Thanks for the awesome videos! Got to watch a few other videos to make sure I made the right choice on investing with the right pack. I'm a sound engineer from Manila, Philippines and I get to work via motorbike. This bag ticked most of the boxes and ordered it! Though I think I already made an awesome choice for my first big pack purchase, would still want to get your opinion for a top 5 bag for travelling musicians/producers! Cheers from Manila!
