  • Review of the Boundary Supply Prima System, which I have been curious to try ever since I saw their kickstarter video and their focus on modular accessories and organization! The Prima System bag and accessories are really well thought out and work very well together, the comfort and build quality of the bag are great, and the amount of features you get for the price is really impressive. Definitely enjoyed testing this out and I think it is a great option as a daily / camera bag (The bag recently won Carryology’s award for best Camera bag).
    Have you guys already checked out the Prima System? What other modular packs do you like?

    I don't understand why this guy has only 6k subscribers, I've looked atleast 15-20 of his videos & all are professional & in-depth. He even responds to individual comments. Maybe bcoz he doesn't make jokes like Chase reeves..
    I can easily see millions of subscribers on a famous singer's channel. 95% of people need entertainment than utility/functionality. No doubt the world is screwed up..

    Thanks for the review. I just received the bag and I was pleasantly surprised by the weight. Since I read online that it's very heavy I was expecting a hard to handle and heavy bag. But that's actually not the case. There will probably be lighter bags, but for a bag with these kind of materials I found this bag to be kinda light to be honest. I have a camera backpack which is heavier and harder to handle. So I guess it's a matter of where you compare it with. Love the Fieldspace, which fits my iPad 12,9 very nicely and the Verge bag is perfect for my Canon 70D with 24-105. It's a tight fit, but it works. When I attach the strap to my camera (when I am on the move) I will probably carry it in extended mode. This is indeed not a photographers backpack, but it is perfect for someone who wants to bring a DSLR and some small stuff. Placement of the Verge is a little odd, but when I go on a holiday I will stuff some clothes at the bottom and side of the Verge. All in all very happy with the bag.

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! Glad to hear you have enjoyed using the bag and to hear your experience comparing this to other camera bags! Thats a good idea to stuff clothes under the verge case when traveling thats a good way to make the best out of the placement of the verge case and overall I definitely agree this is a nice bag for daily use! =)

    • @JimvanGulik
      @JimvanGulik 6 лет назад +1

      I do admit that the Verge could use a bit of a redesign. With bigger lenses the design isn't very practical. The idea is nice, but they probably should have given the Verge the shape of a holster bag, instead of a more rectangular design. And I concur that stuff can fall out of the Verge if you attach it to the bag, so it's basically only useful for big stuff (body and lens). That being said; it will definitely fit my needs when I expand the Verge. Maybe I will just put it in the bag without attaching. That's the great thing about this bag, it's versatile. Ohh, and I will also go shopping for a power packer ;-)

      Hey Bo thank you for watching and I really appreciate the feedback! Definitely means a lot coming from you! =) and yes this should be the most recent version. I remember watching your original review for it and noticed some changes based off things you had recommended in that video (I was glad to see they had added some zippered pockets in the main compartment in additional to the mesh slip pocket they had there originally), I also don't remember if there was an RFID protected pocket in the preproduction unit you had in your video

    The handle on the side seems to be there to help you grab it so you can pull the bag around front like a sling, judging by the fact that it's next to the side access pocket.

      Thank you for watching! and thats a good point i hadn't thought about it like that! In that way it makes a little more sense that its not quite the same as the top, and it does a good job of allowing you to swing the bag around but I do think they could have made it a little nicer as it kind of sticks out from everything else on the bag imo haha =)

    Thanks for the review! Big fan of your channel ; its been very useful in my bag-hunts! I'm currently contemplating between this and the Evergoods CPL24 for my daily carry/work/gym bag.
    On the Boundary pack, I love the aesthetics and easy access pockets but a little concerned by the weight and size as a daily carry.
    On CPL24, I love the size and professional(ish) look but dislike the lack of water bottle pocket and lack of easy access pockets. As you've used both of them, can I hear your opinion on the 2 bags and which do you think is most appropriate for the uses I've mentioned? Thanks!

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! Thats a tough choice as I think both bags are really good and i think they can work well for a daily carry / gym bag! As far as value, I think the Boundary Supply bag is a better deal as it feels like a better made bag, it comes with some really cool accessories, and it costs the same (or even less depending on if its on sale) than the CPL24. I do like the look of the CPL a little bit more and I think it would be a little more office appropriate. I also like the size a little bit better for daily carry so overall i think it comes down to whether you are looking for the best deal and you like the accessories or you carry a camera with you on a regular basis (boundary supply might be better in that case) or if you are looking for a versatile day bag you can use for the office as well (CPL 24 might be the better option then). Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! That’s definitely a tough choice, both bags are a great value! Personally I like the look of the prima a little more and if you plan on carrying camera gear it will likely be a better option. However overall I slightly prefer the Nomatic travel pack as I think it works better for daily and travel use since it expands and contracts a nice amount (but it’s a really tough choice and I can’t think of too many negatives for either haha) hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags :)

    Hey pal, great review. Very thorough as usual. I'm getting to a decision point, and I'm really leaning towards this bag. I think all the versatility will be great. I think I can workaround those small gaps on the bottom and side created by the verge case by packing properly (shows at the bottom, dopp kit at the side). So, just wanted to ask: after this time, do you still think it's a good buy? Any gotchas you learned down the road?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  6 лет назад +2

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I'm glad the review was helpful! I definitely think its still a good buy and a great deal for all the different features and accessories it includes. I didn't really find any additional gotchas that I hadn't mentioned in the video, but the one I would mention again as you're considering purchasing would be whether the size is right for you. I think its a pretty decent size, but its still a little bigger than what I would typically prefer to use on a daily basis. Its also pretty heavy due to how well padded it is and the quality of materials. The only other thing i continued to notice is that if you try to expand the strap buckles out to try to use more of the volume of the main compartment, it can get tricky to close the bag and to use the top accessory compartment. So these are pretty isolated issues and Overall the bag really is very good. The last thing I would mention is that it might be worth checking out their new bag that they just announced the kickstarter for in case that size / style suits your needs a little better. Hope that helps and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

      Thanks for getting back to me, really appreciate how responsive you are. Yeah I did notice that new bag Errant. I'm... not sure. I prefer the style of the Prima, plus all the components. That Verge Case is exactly what I need for "inflight dopp kit" (store the bag in the overhead, get the Verge with everything I need during flight). Also, I don't live in the US, so most crowdfunding campaigns are a no-go for me due to shipping and taxes. I'll keep looking, but I'm really inclined to the Prima. Thanks again!

    • @mcnuonuo
      @mcnuonuo 6 лет назад

      There's another review video of this backpack which mentioned one of the weakness of MK1. If you have an item stored at the bottom right part of the bag, you will have to take the MK1 out to get that.

    • @XpresSC
      @XpresSC 6 лет назад

      Qin Zhu not so sure about that, because MK1 has only been scheduled to ship out on 15/6 as it is a new module, released for pre-order in Late April. The photos of the MK1 seem to show that it may sit flush to the bottom of the Prima Backpack.
      However, the space at the bottom is definitely apparent with the Verge Case, as mentioned in the video. I would fit the space with my power pack for my laptop, which I don’t need to pull out as often.

    • @mcnuonuo
      @mcnuonuo 6 лет назад

      Yeah, so my comment about MK1 is entirely based on the photos I see from their website. What I mean is, the bottom right part of the MK1 is very hard to access.

    Hi there ! Really nice video and to the point . I personally find this bag leas useful as far as travelling is concern as I see when you put your packing cube then there is hardly any space left for other stuff . Others than that there needs to be apace for vanity which is again an important cube for daily essentials . I saw you putting your toms just on top of the cubes . That again big negative as shows gets dirty and looks unhygienic .
    Some hidden pockets are well placed but again lacking with external pockets as they are very essential for easy to grab daily essentials . Can you please suggest which one is better amongst Karkoa 40 lit and Deuter alpine 40 lit ? I guess they have more practice features as compared to this backpack ( Boundary )
    Thanks for sharing informative video . Good luck for your next video .

      Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I’m glad the video was helpful! And that’s a good point about the bag not being as good for traveling, I struggled with space and organization for those types of items and definitely see it as more of a versatile daily / camera bag haha for the bags you mentioned I haven’t had a chance to try either but based on the pictures on their sites I personally like the Karkoa more as it feels more versatile and less like a hiking bag. So both seem like they would hold a lot but which is better for you will likely depend on whether comfort and support is most important or if versatility is more important. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer :)

    I did want to ask between the boundary prima system, brevities rucksac(or roll too) and the prvke by wandard. Which is more comfortable? I have a ronin S, sony a7iii,16-35,85,rode mic pro, and just random wires and cleaning supplies. I do get back sweet as well 😅 maybe tmi but it is important

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice between these! I really like the look and organization of the prima system and it is really comfortable but between the three with the gear you carry I might lean toward the Prvke as I think it is the most versatile for handling the camera gear, durable and water resistant. It’s also really comfortable (although the prima system offers a little more airflow in the back panel). The brevite roamer that I reviewed was a good daily bag that had some storage for camera gear, but it didn’t have the side access and not quite as much structure so it didn’t distribute the weight quite as well as the other two. • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  6 лет назад

      Thank you for watching! The packing cube is on the larger size and typically I can fit about 3 pants (jeans / chinos), a pair of shorts, and 3 or 4 dress shirts so it can hold a pretty good amount haha the bag itself it should be able to hold a pair of shoes and a set of gym shoes clothes, but I’m not sure if that would leave too much room for a lunch (not sure if you use a brown bag or a bulkier lunchbox) and if you also need to carry books / notebooks it may start to be a pretty tight fit to hold everything. For holding that much stuff I might look at something like the Wandrd Prvke 31, Goruck gr1 26L, Nomatic travel pack, or maybe something like the burton traverse or annex packs. Thank you for watching and good question! Personally I liked this one a little bit better as it is a little more comfortable and I just liked the overall aesthetic a little bit more. With that being said if you carry a lot of camera gear or you want the more flexible option the peak design may be a little bit better. Hope that helps a bit and please let me k one if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags :)

    What document sleeve are you using? I like how slim it is.

      Thank you for watching! The document sleeve is one that I just grabbed out of the supply room at my old work office haha I will check to see if there is a brand name or anything like that and comment back. If there’s any additional question I can help answer about the bag please let me know :)

    It’s a pretty good bag, but it’s a horrible camera bag. If anyone is considering this as a camera backpack, reconsider. Everything around the verge case is pretty horrible. But if the expectation is a good general backpack, it’s great.

      Thank you for watching! a few people have mentioned they're not big fans of the verge case. I'm not a super avid photographer so my needs are pretty basic. Is it the size thats not good? or the configuration options with the dividers? For my purposes I think I would mostly leave the verge case at home just because I don't typically carry my camera with me on my day to day and I definitely agree its great as a daily bag! =)

      It's for a few reasons.
      The size is small. I could fit my A7ii with a spare lens in it. That's it. The design makes the verge case able to expand. But the problem is that you stuck with 1 divider. The expansion is not practical at all.
      The backpack design around the verge case is poor too. It literally sits in the middle of the bag, with room below and on the side of it. If you carry heavy camera gear, and don't put anything below it, the verge case is gonna sink down.
      If you use the quick access to get gear and you put a sharp knife in the bag ( extreme example), the knife can get in the verge case, since it's literally open to the main compartment the all the time.
      The quick access side opening isn't as good as it sounds. At least not as good as the Prvke 21 bag. That bag had the camera compartment divided from the main compartment. Unfortunately I didn't like the look of that bag.
      I think generally it's a cool backpack, with the lack of organization options in the main compartment. It's not horrible but I would probably choose AER tech backpack or Minaal daily over it for daily carry. If you want a camera backpack, Wandrd Prvke and PD 21 everyday backpack are better.

      Thank you for the additional information! I definitley noticed how strangely the verge case sat in the middle of the bag and thats a shame to lose so much space because of it. I hadn't thought about the lack of additional dividers but I can see how that would be a problem if you are trying to carry multiple lenses and things like that! And those are some great bags you mentioned, I am a big fan of Aer and those other brands are great as well, I haven't tried the Prvke 21 just yet, but I am going to start testing it out within the next couple of weeks so I will be excited to compare to this one and maybe share some of my thoughts when I do that video =)

      There is no bag good for everything. For me it's a perfect travel camera bag. It fits my Sony A7R + two lensens plus clothes and stuff for a week long trip. I only wish I could pack for 10 days but can't have everything!

      It is a good bag, in a way.
      They advertised this as the perfect camera backpack. What is a good camera backpack? Enough space for all the gears and easy to get to the cameras when you need to. They failed in both. If the goal is to fit A7R plus two lenses and clothes, there're loads of other bags that are equally good out there. If the goal is to fit the cameras, lenses and clothes and also make it very easy to retrieve the camera when you want to, it is not a very good one.
      What I want to say is, without the verge case and the advertising around the camera backpack aspect, it is a pretty good bag! But it's not great in the way they defined it. And I am very disappointed in the way the company's response when I even have a question about the verge case.

    Why are all your videos mostly of you face? Show the bag, then show more of the bag, and then even more bag. Full screen, all the angles, inside, outside upside down etc etc. I'm not here to see your face...

      Thank you for watching and for the feedback! I always want to make sure I show all the aspects of the bag, but I know there is definitely room to improve and I would definitely want to make sure the videos are focused on the bags so that they are useful to viewers. I think I still talk a little too much in many of the reviews and I end up taking up alot of the camera time talking, but I will continue working on ways to make the videos more concise, but still with all the details that might be useful for learning everything a particular bag has to offer =)

      Such a rude comment. There are better ways to put your point across.
