At first sight... very cool design! Then, seeing all of the various cords/bungees, how to manage the dangle and cord conflict... I'll wait for next iteration.
nice to see they finally beef up their shoulder straps but agreed that the cinch pocket would fail under rain. It also seemed to be on the heavier side for outdoor backpacks.
This one is not my cup of tea. As always with Peak Design there are some really cool design choices. Your reviews are the best, Danny. Interesting to see :)
This looks like a good bag as long as you live somewhere that doesn't rain. I'd rather it had zips that keep things dry rather than have to get the rain hood out every ten minutes.
The rolltop implementation is a headache. If you think it is tricky to implement, please look at Wandrd - supereasy to use, roll, tighten, without the tonnes of hanging ropes.
Pledged this AM for a 25L… glad I saw Danny’s walkthrough. Not a fan of the bungees and the roll top adds to over all messiness of the bag. Wanted to be excited… :( Off to cancel my pledge.
Is this the same bag as in their Kickstarter campaign? if they are available in retail I do not understand why bother with Kickstarter? Just wanto make sure it is the same product.
Rolltop plus zipper clamshell is strange since rolltop is usually there to protect from rain or from pickpockets. The all-around zipper defeat the purpose and the other compartment has no protection from rain either. Very strange bag.
It's designed for the outdoor folks and is meant to compete against other hiking backpacks. It's not for the city folks so yeah, not the target audience for most but definitely for hikers. I've been hiking alot recently and I can see the demographic for this bag. For most it's a pass. If hiking and the ultra light market are not your thing, this isn't for you.
Definitely but outdoorsy stuff like this is definitely filtering down to mainstream who like the aesthetics. Lots of stuff like Sealson, Snow Peak and And Wander. They are definitely trying for that market Can't keep making travel bags
Yeah man, for hikers this feature set is beast. It looks a lot more sleek than the typical ultra-light offerings out there. The rope bungee, external stretch pockets, and the vest style harness look super useful for them 5 to 10 mile hikes. I've done a few trails this year and now going down the outdoorsy gear rabbit hole. Dedicated pack for hiking. City folk and commuters will have another bag for work and general edc.
As a hiker and backpacker I can't say why this would be interesting. That front pouch is super useful, if it had a hole in the bottom. It would be nice for the rain gear. Like this I don't know why it would be better than any of the outdoor brands I have used. Lot of dangling cords as well. No idea why I would pick it over an osprey, gregory, mystery ranch, even my evergoods mpl22 (which does have drain holes).
Hard to believe how much of a design fail this one is. Long dangling cord on the front with no way to manage it, a roll top that doesn’t close and seal that compartment all the way (covered in the pack hacker review). I don’t know what they were thinking with this one.
Totally agree with previous comment, ugly and impractical- I keep my perfect Fjalljraven Skule 28L for 100 euros ! Yes you read good Only 100 euros and it's a Fjallraven.
Speak for yourself. I find most Fjallraven stuff to look really ugly. Particularly the skule. Limited water resistance and heavy. It's 100 euros because you are getting what you pay for
@@Urbanjeffery I agree this bag looks gorgeous. Reminds me of the racing atelier custom bags. But those are like super expensive since its made out of leather and other high performance fabrics
Why kickstarter? Find it weird as they're a established company and it seems they're not confident in their products if they're putting it on kickstarter
At first sight... very cool design! Then, seeing all of the various cords/bungees, how to manage the dangle and cord conflict... I'll wait for next iteration.
Finally! another cool line from PD
Thank you for watching and I agree, great to see Peak Design continue to try new stuff!:)
PD has comfortable harnesses finally!
nice to see they finally beef up their shoulder straps but agreed that the cinch pocket would fail under rain. It also seemed to be on the heavier side for outdoor backpacks.
Thank you for watching and fair points! Agree that the updated harness is great to see!
Like the design its amazing need one
Thank you for watching! Definitely a sleek look!

does this bag have load lifters also ur reviews are super useful when comparing bags thanks
I've been a PD fan since the first-gen Capture Clip and have been using their bags and accessories, but this seems like a miss in almost every regard.
All those cords flopping around would drive me crazy. Kinda weird from PD, they're usually really sleek.
Thank you for watching and fair point! I was a little surprised there wasn’t more strap management incorporated, particularly on the main one
please review the 45L 😊
Thank you for watching and I’ll have to see if I can get one to test out!:)

does a 32 oz hydro flask fit in the side holders?
istg if peak design would just put this harness on their everyday bag
What about the new 2L and 7L slings in the Outdoor Line?
Thank you for watching! I didn’t have a chance to check those out but they look like pretty nice sling options!
Its unique and pretty cool looking but the ropes and laces makes it feel complicated.
Any chance anyone know the dimension of this backpack (25L). Wanted to check if this would fit as FRONTIER personal item

Thank you for watching and glad the video was able to help!:)
Keep the stash
how's the weight compared to the PD 15L zip?
I’ve been waiting for a roller bag from PD for years. I would definitely back-these are out of my scope unfortunately .
Thank you for watching! Would definitely be curious to see peak designs take on a roller bag!:)
@@dannypacks I love your content ❤️
I mean, if I’m going to hike I’m grabbing an actual backpacking pack.
Is this the same bag as in their Kickstarter campaign? if they are available in retail I do not understand why bother with Kickstarter? Just wanto make sure it is the same product.
Thank you for watching! This is the same bag from the kickstarter, not available retail yet
The bag just screams "proprietary!") Looks overengineered, but that's PD for you)

Just like my ex. A bag with too many strings.

Even as a cycling commuter, I am really keen to see how this pack works - especially that it has the full white version
This. Is. Not. Ultralight.
Hard to believe how much of a design fail this one is. Long dangling cord on the front with no way to manage it, a roll top that doesn’t close and seal that compartment all the way (covered in the pack hacker review). I don’t know what they were thinking with this one.
Not really understand why a big company like Peak Design need crowd funding for a backpack....
I’m surprised there’s no side access - that’s one of if not the main thing I look for in a camera bag….
Thank you for watching and good callout! Definitely something I’m used to seeing on a camera focused bag
Is this ultralight? Lmao
Whoever thought of the dangling band needs to be fired. Impractical and extremely ugly.
It's very similar to And Wander stuff which they are definitely copying some of the style of.
This isn't designed for people who want a city bag
Very over priced according to material for sure. Bellroy transit is very minimal and sturdy in terms of all this compare to this 25L PD.
no luggage pass-through?!?! i’ll have to pass on this.
All those cables and ties look like an absolute disaster. Top seal looks like it will simply fill up with water in slightest rain. Pass by me.
I don’t like resting my bags on their faces
Thank you for watching and I agree, I prefer resting my bag on the straps to open it even if they get a little dirty 😅

Nah. Not applicable im9 for outdoor use actually

Why not Kickstarter? Let's them accurately gauge demand so they don't make too many or too few. No real downsides since they're a trustworthy brand.
Just saw their answer to this exact question browsing the Kickstarter btw: "Because crowdfunding keeps us free of outside investment"
@@MrJed_s Saw as well, great they have transparency.
@@MrJed_s Yes, I understand. I just think they can do their own preorder on their own physical website. Its not uncommon for preorders.
Nah, I like the Prvke better
Thank you for watching! Prvke is definitely a great alternative!
Too much cords
This bag looks like cheeks 😂
This is way too engineered and not practical.
Not enough straps… pass
pass
Hi. Do you know the weight of the bag?
Just like my ex. A bag with too many strings.
