    • @opaljade98
      @opaljade98 3 года назад +1

      @@Randy-rs1cg There's quite a bit of stigma against military personnel from fear of them having PTSD. In addition, many military personnel who enlisted right out of highschool into combatant positions often do not leave the service with "transitionable" skills. You can't exactly get an office job if you were on the ground in Iran for ten years. That's part of the major issue. Most military contracts range from 4-6 years, so that's 4-6 years of zero experience that is useful for anything other than continued military service. In addition, IF one of these veterans does have trauma or a disability, it is even more difficult as pursing education and dealing with the VA is nearly impossible. It's legitimately not an excuse. Veterans have to fight daily to get the care and support they earned. Veterans are some of the largest unhoused population. Post-militaty life is incredibly difficult on many veterans. It's an entirely different lifestyle. That's why there are so many transition programs headed by non-profit organizations. They help military personnel get certification in technical skills that can help them get jobs so that they can have food and shelter. Then, they can decide whether to pursue further education or technical schools. The military heavily recruits highschoolers but does a poor job of communicating post-military life if you don't have a job that is directly applicable to a civilian one.
      People expect highschoolers to have little experience. Veterans and older adults are not given the same kindness.

    As a girlfriend of an airplane mechanic, she’ll be making more. $55k is just her starting pay. Also you have to account that she works for a small airline. She could be making more with a larger airline like delta. Also I’ve learned that airlines don’t provide you with your own tools, that’s something a mechanic pays out of pocket so she got a good deal by getting $5000 worth of tools. Plus flight benefits- she’ll be saving thousands of dollars on travel. I’d say she’s making good money as a 24 year old!

      @bronxishomenomatterwhereig3149 3 года назад +1

      They're just ignorant of the industry. I'm a aircraft mechanic and have been one for 5 years now. From what I've learned. Military experience doesn't count in commercial aviation. So that wouldn't be factored into her pay rate.
      Also regional airliners and MROs is where young mechanics go. To get the experience needed to work at Major Airliners such as Delta, or Cargo airliners such as FedEx. That's where you make high 80k to 130k a year.
      Also it depends on her skill level. I.E There are mechanic ratings from lv 1 to 3. And you are trusted with different work depending on rating. So lower rated mechanics get paid less. Because they're doing the grunt work like greasing parts, and oil changes. They're not doing the critical task where the plane can go down if u screw up.

    And now i makes $43 a hour with qualifying Q2050 which is eligibility to sign for RTS of cargo airplanes (B747-4/8, 767-2/3, 777). Yes, i moved to cargo airline company after i got 1.5 years from compass airline.
    Dont assume mechanics' salary. We do a lot of overtime.. when i made $24 a hour at compass airline, i earned $70k a year. It was about 35% increased YTD related to given hourly pay.
    So, let say, her salary is 55K means her hourly pay is around $29 per hour, and she is probably making over 75k a year.

    There's quite a bit to factor in here... I've worked in that industry, not as a mechanic though. What she's making is probably on the low side in the US, although it ain't completely bad as a starting salary for a 24 yo. There is also a lot of agency paid personal in this industry in north America (probably elsewhere too but I couldn't say) I does sucks that agency makes quite a bit of money for recruiting young talents, I feel like those young talents should be hired directly and get the pay they deserve without a 3rd party or a middle man making their cut... but that's the world we live in now. Also big companies makes a TON of savings hiring people trough agencies, and therefore creating a demand for having those agencies in the first place. Once her contract is over (usually 6 months to a year) and she gets employed by the actual company, she should be able to get 60-65K fairly fast within the next 2 to 3 years, and probably 65-75K within 3 to 6 years and achieve around the max salary range for that position around the 6 to 8 years mark (could be anywhere from 75 to 100K I would guess...). Other than that... it's about what the different companies are offering for the same or a similar position, some employers may be more competitive on their offering. Most of those jobs are unionized so the pay is what the convention say it is
