Something to consider when keeping baby clothes for future kids or grandkids... They're going to want the experience of nesting with their choices and taste. I can pretty much guarantee they won't want any of what you save. Also, no matter how carefully you pack it away, they will unpack with mystery stains and smells. Ask yourself if the what-ifs outweigh the space used when making your decision. Hope this helps.❤
In the UK land is expensive so we don’t have houses with big cellars and garages. Storage is a small luxury and usually in the roof space. Decluttering definitely needs to be a regular task. It’s surprising what you decide to keep in the Spring then say goodbye to in the Autumn. My motto is “think twice before it goes into the loft”.
😮 I have twin 7 year olds. I kept their first outfits - they were premature so the onesie plus the tiny beanie fit into a small sandwich ziploc bag - and their first Christmas onesies. Im lacking the sentimental bone, my kids will grow up and have nothing but a shoebox of keepsakes to go through between them.
Life advice from a grandmother. Do not save clothes for your someday future grandchildren. Your kids and/or their spouses won’t want them. Save them for your memories if you really want them but in my experience, styles change, elastic etc. breaks down, and you will have taken up space in your home in the meantime.
I love watching your videos, they’ve motivated me to organize my house. I wouldn’t recommend saving clothes for your grandchildren. I’m a grandmother o 4 and the amount I’ve been able to reuse has been very limited.
Good job. My comment relates to the shelf on the right. I save some glass jars like from pickles, spaghetti sauce etc. When I am done painting I pour the paint that is left into a jar and label it. I try to use a jar that I can fill all the way so it doesn't have air in it. Paint cans take up a lot of room, they rust and the paint dries up. I just did a touch up using seven year old paint and it was fine.
Great video Catherine❤ I did a massive declutter recently and followed the white/black rule to make sorting easier: any old clothes or things that could be recycled go in white trash bags to be donated and anything that’s trash or broken goes in black trash bags and is thrown out
Yes, your ideas and experience are quite helpful- like having a friend who will discuss these things with you and offer help. Creativity for practical use is wonderful!
Kids clothes is always so tough! We had a daughter in 2010 and thought we were going to have 2 more back to back. Well, life happened and we had our second baby 8 years later. And it was a boy. And the year after that we had our second son.😂 So all those totes (8 I believe, full to the brim large totes) of girl clothes got donated. I kept a baby outfit and a dress. And in 2021 we had our second girl😂❤❤❤. She wore her sister's dress. I got the pictures and was happy. But other than that I didn't miss all the clothes. She has her own personality and her sisters clothes would have been not her style.😅
I can't believe all of those clothes were only for 2 children & boys to boot! I thought maybe you had 3 or 4 lol!! But another way I like to think of decluttering clothing - especially when my child was young - was that someone, who perhaps can't afford to buy new would have the opportunity to get some nice clothing for their child. And of course, buying second hand or being able to secure already worn clothing at no cost is a great way to support our planet!! What you accomplished in this video was incredible!! Good for you - thanks for sharing the motivation!!!
I also appreciated the new bins and readily understand how they can assist in self-limiting amounts to be stored just by their size! Any help from infrastructure is welcome- good idea! Again- You are creative!
Great job! No worries about the repetition of folding for so long- it is kinda hypnotic to watch what your hands and arms do as you fold in speeded-up motion! I think there are others who like this as well as myself... And the commentary and sharing of evaluating what to discard and why is interesting. Thoughts and actions which can be useful to me and others who also want to declutter and/or organize. Thanks you for your efforts- very enjoyable! And I appreciate your lovely personality! Bye
You did a great job Catherine, it is hard but since you seem to have crossed over to wanting to declutter all thos bins and get space back plus only keeping what you will use, it looks amazing. I see why you said it is a weight off your shoulders! This video was a great inspiration and movtivator!
The idea of uniform bins is a good one. well as it looks nice, dparking joy and peace of mind, you know those ones have the one category in them and the labels. What a fun adventure this would be going down memory lane. I remember going through my child's clothes - lots of memories. Those memories are always with you when the children are grown up. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks, Catherine ❤
That must feel awesome going through things and declutter. I still have kids clothes in our attic storage to go through and our kiddos are 18 and 20. 😂
I have two girls and recently went through their clothes bins and was able to gift most of it to my cousin and its so fun to see her baby wearing my girls old clothes!
I have 3 large bins like the one you have but I use them to store our Christmas tree. It has really reduced the amount of fluffing I have to do each year with the tree and the bins are light enough for me to carry upstairs since they are lightly packed.
I had two boys two girls both girls and boys born in different seasons to sibs so only body suits and pjs handed down really 😊 looks great you still have your memories 😊
I loved watching this video! It was very enjoyable and motivating. Yea I don't like the black bins either. Not only they don't look good but you'll forget what you've put in them. I love the clear bins you've bought. You can see what's in them and they look much easier to carry. LOL I lo e the cameras on the vacuum. I'd use it to spy or scare my cats 😅
When I go through my kids clothes, I keep 10 of each type of clothing in each size-shorts, pants, short sleeves, long sleeves, socks and undies. I just pick out my favorite 10 or the 10 in the best shape and the rest is donated. That way I know I have a good week's worth of clothing in each size and I know they will be gifted clothing by grandparents periodically. So I don't worry about when items wear out or are damaged. I only keep 1 heavy coat, 1 mid weight, and 2 light jackets.
I have used vacuum bags for any keepsake clothing/blankets etc of my daughters. It not only saves space but it also preserves the clothing, blanket etc much better. Just a thought for those items that you want to keep long term 🙂. Love your channel 😊
I didn't save much from my kids at all. I did help my daughter go through her kids' stuff. I bought all new containers for my holiday decor. I finally found the container that fit my shelves the best. Then I can only keep what will fit in them. Works great. Just saw your new bins - Hefty is what my decor is in. Bigger than those though.
Not being sure if you are wanting another baby is so tough when trying to declutter. I'm there too. I keep chipping away at it. I have two boys as well and have pretty much condensed down to 2 bins. Most of the clothes are smaller ones 18 months and under because once they're eating and crawling it seems most of those clothes get holes and stains. Hardest to get rid of is newborn for sure!
I’m a person that don’t get attached to things the only clothes that I kept from my kids were what they came from the hospital with and with what they were baptized with.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I am loving this video.... I feel so guilty throwing things out like it's wasteful. But you are right, if I can't donate it then Sometimes it's best to just throw it out.
Great job decluttering. The new bins look very nice. I think it’s worthwhile to keep since you’re not sure if you’re going to have another baby. As a grandma myself, I think your kids probably won’t want their baby clothes for their own children. Styles change, they’ll receive gifts and they may receive “hand me down” items from relatives and friends in their age group. We’ve had a couple of those super large bins and I agree with you- I am not a fan. They get very heavy and difficult to move. Would rather use multiple smaller bins (and try to save less.) Your videos are very inspiring. Decluttering is an ongoing process and you help to keep me motivated.
Great job Catherine! I know that you are so relieved that project is over. I have containers to go through in our garage and need to do it before it gets much hotter here in Ga
When we had our daughter, I saved all the clothes in good condition by season and size. Spring/summer and fall/winter with the sizes marked. I used clear bins and slid a sheet of paper inside the bin up against the side so I could see by looking at each stacked bin what was in there. Four years later our second, a girl, was born. The first year was slightly off in the seasons. But then things balanced out for the second year. We knew we were done so we donated stuff the moment our youngest outgrew them. But then we encountered the issue where my youngest’s waist size and leg length were not matching my oldest. So I donated all saved pairs of pants and stopped saving pants. Then the next year, shirt size and length weren’t lining up. So all shirts left and I stopped saving them. After that I only kept dresses, shoes, snow pants and outdoor gear. It really cut down on the number of bins!
I've heard of people making quilts out of old baby clothes/sentimental clothes. Maybe that's something you could do if you have really sentimental pieces.
My mind is blown! I have 11 children and you got me beat on clothes in the before. 😉 Actually now that I have watched more and thought about it it's probably just that I have more experience and know that babies and kids need very little to get by. I now have one girl tub and one boy tub of clothing saved but it's a process.
I was given a lot of hand me downs over the years that I felt bad saying no to, even though I did not need them. My boys were also born in opposite seasons and my oldest was always very big for his age compared to my youngest. So not much ended up aligning with the correct season here unfortunately
Oh I would’ve loved some vintage stuff of my husbands!!! Obviously not all of it haha but how sweet would it be to have a side by side photo of your babies in one of yours/your husbands vintage baby clothes!
We were given clothes from our parents that they saved from we were babies. They were soooo outdated. I decided that I would not do the same for our kids. The only thing I saved was their baptism outfits.
Why do you keep kids clothes they have both outgrown? How do you choose what to keep? I’m not being sassy. I’m having my first baby and trying to figure out what I should keep as she outgrows her clothes.
I think my downfall is that I accepted a loooot of hand me downs over the years, even when I knew I didn’t need them because I have a hard time saying no. I’m such a people pleaser 😭 so, be choosy about what you say yes to!! I kept things they’ve outgrown in case we have another boy someday! But I would suggest you don’t let it get this backed up like I did… I used to just throw everything into a container to deal with later until it turned into such a daunting task and became worse and worse over time.
Do Dana K White’s method to avoid the overwhelm next time you declutter. Her “take it there now” and never making piles methods have completely changed how easily I can declutter for the better!
You did a wonderful job! But I now understand why minimalist Shannon Torres decided to not keep any kids clothes but buy their clothes at the thrift stores since they go through them so fast!
I donated all my childrens clothes. Bins don't always preserve the clothes. No need to hold on and any future grandchildren I will purchase new clothes Free yourself of holding on
If you have a “once upon a child” near you, you can sell it to them. I took 1 giant bin and got $63 for it! I also have a bunch of clothes I can’t part with even though it’s not likely I will be having another baby but they are just sentimental!
I’m not trying to be rude, but how and why, do people buy their kids so many clothes. It’s not just you, it’s almost everyone on u~tube. When my child was growing up , he (and most of his friends) had 8 shirts for school and 5 pairs of Jeans and if their feet didn’t grew to fast, they might have 2 pair of shoes.
Don’t save the clothes for your grandkids. The clothes probably won’t hold up (elastic, etc), styles change. You are putting the burden of the decision to declutter on your future daughter in law.
As a seasoned Grandma here, please don’t save clothes for your future grandchildren unless they are special family heirlooms. By the time your kids have kids, those clothes will be out of style; and the material will most likely be deteriorating from age. It’s best to donate what you don’t need and keep only the best of the best things for a future child. Offer the clothes on moms groups to help out a young one whose parents may be struggling financially right now. Use your abundance to bless someone else while these clothes are still in style.
Dont save for the grandchildren. All that space is taken up and they will not wear them. Styles change over the years. I saved mine for my grandchildren they never wore my daughters beautiful dresses or sons sweatersetc.
I wanted to offer a different perspective on getting rid of your kids clothes that makes it easier to let them go. If you sell them to a kid’s resale shop (like since upon a Child) or a pop up like Just Between Friends, you can take that money and put that money into a savings account for them. I started this for my kids 2 years ago and I’ve saved up $2K each by selling their outgrown clothes and toys.
Haha! I do like green. No contacts!! I had a procedure done a couple months ago and I couldn’t wear my glasses for a while. I could put them back on now but I got used to not wearing them 😂 I might get contacts though!
I would encourage save only a couple special things for grandchildren. I have 13 grands, and my daughters and daughter in laws do not want my old clothes. Styles are completely different now and they want the new stuff.
So true. I only have one bin with their clothes. It is for me to enjoy, it is clear and in my closet. I offered to my daughter but she didn't want.
The elastics don’t last
So true for any item. It's saved for the parent, not the kid, despite what the moms want to believe.
I'm proud of you for decluttering the baby clothes. Sentimental items are the hardest, but you did a good job.
Thank you so much!

Nice work. Great video. As always , Thank you for sharing your home and time with us! So motivating.
Thank you so much!!
Justin’s mom saved one of his jean jackets he had as a little boy and passed it down to Greyson and I thought it was SOOO special 🥺
Great job! You're helping people NOW!
Other than the outfits my babies came home in I donated all our baby clothes to churches with clothing ministries..
Wow!!!! What a huge job....I know your thankful it's done.
Those new bins are perfect. ❤
I love them!!

Great video, Catherine. You got rid of a lot. Your cats wanted to be in the video, too 😂
your husband's bin his responsibility. great job.
I will be doing this soon... thanks
I hang on to my kids clothes too! I can totally relate. I think at some point I may have a quilt made of my favorites of each kids clothes!
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this one. So happy to see you decluttering in the basement again! 🌟💪

You did a great job getting rid and condensing items! Kudos to you!
This was such an inspiring video! I’m ready to see the next basement declutter!
Love all of your videos, especially decluttering. Btw, your make up is so pretty. Maybe one day a video on how to put on eye shadow/makeup?
I noticed this too! Fine hand at makeup- it's evident when I see your pretty face.
Great job!! You’re an inspiration! Btw: nothing wrong with asking for help!! 😊❤
Thank you so much!!
that's a really cool vacuum, i didn't know there was a mopper option w a robot vac, i'm def looking at this one!
You did an amazing job!!! You go, girl! Have a beautiful weekend 🥰💗
Great job , looks great 👍
Thank you!!
Great job
Thank you!!
Great motivation, thanks
Thank you for watching!!
Good strategy- I will add it to my cache of ideas. Thank you.
Looking for Part 1. You should link it...(please).
I have used vacuum bags for any keepsake clothing/blankets etc of my daughters. It not only saves space but it also preserves the clothing, blanket etc much better. Just a thought for those items that you want to keep long term 🙂. Love your channel 😊
I tried those once and it all filled back up with air! I must’ve been doing something wrong
Big job that was

I wish I could say the same!! I can throw my stuff out left and right but when it comes to the kids, I can’t hahah
I am loving this video.... I feel so guilty throwing things out like it's wasteful. But you are right, if I can't donate it then Sometimes it's best to just throw it out.
This does make you feel so good
Whohoooo🎉, exactly what I needed for motivation today, thank you for uploading ❤😊
Great job decluttering. The new bins look very nice. I think it’s worthwhile to keep since you’re not sure if you’re going to have another baby. As a grandma myself, I think your kids probably won’t want their baby clothes for their own children. We’ve had a couple of those super large bins and I agree with you- I am not a fan. They get very heavy and difficult to move. Would rather use multiple smaller bins (and try to save less.)
Your videos are very inspiring. Decluttering is an ongoing process and you help to keep me motivated.
Hi, I’ve been watching your organize a small space videos and just wanted to say I so appreciate them. Thank you so much.🎉
Great job Catherine! I know that you are so relieved that project is over. I have containers to go through in our garage and need to do it before it gets much hotter here in Ga
How many clothes! I’m in shock!
Great job! It’s hard letting go of sentimental baby items ❤.
When we had our daughter, I saved all the clothes in good condition by season and size. Spring/summer and fall/winter with the sizes marked. I used clear bins and slid a sheet of paper inside the bin up against the side so I could see by looking at each stacked bin what was in there.

❤❤❤ Love it!!!
What would one do it there was a fire and all of this had to go? Just wondering 🤔
Huh? 😂
Great job Catherine! When I knew I was done after my 2 boys, I got rid of everything except 1/2 doz of my favorite outfits. 😊
Me too. After my fourth I knew I was done. And we dont keep anything. Just her baby outfit and blanket.
As a new mom I’m not sure I want my husbands old clothes that are over 20 years old for my new baby.
I agree! But for me I had to get rid of things slowly. After a couple times of going through baby clothes I only kept their coming home outfits.
Oh I would’ve loved some vintage stuff of my husbands!!! Obviously not all of it haha but how sweet would it be to have a side by side photo of your babies in one of yours/your husbands vintage baby clothes!
No you don't
We were given clothes from our parents that they saved from we were babies. They were soooo outdated. I decided that I would not do the same for our kids. The only thing I saved was their baptism outfits.
I saved their going home outfits for each of my boys. I figure 1 small outfit each would be adorable if they have children of their own.
Beautiful job 🎉😂❤
What do you do with all your old robot vacuums?
I give them away to friends and family!
May I ask what size Hefty bins did you use ?
Why do you keep kids clothes they have both outgrown? How do you choose what to keep? I’m not being sassy. I’m having my first baby and trying to figure out what I should keep as she outgrows her clothes.

Future Grandkids??? You're killing me, Smalls"! Young people usually prefer new items, plus styles change!
I don’t mean they take it all I just mean if they’d like a couple “vintage” outfits!! Haha

Probably shopping addiction, second hand shop addiction
People gave her their hand me downs, and her kids were born in opposite seasons. It happens and she donated a lot.
She needs to donate all but MAYBE 1 bin.
@@ikrobieeI think she knows best what she needs to donate 😊
Everyone buys their kids and babies Alot of clothes ❤️ This family is not Alone.
Good job decluttering. I am not sentimental over most clothes whatsoever. I have 1 outfit from each kid that I saved for memory box.
I think you should give away all the things you have not used and seen for years.
As a mother of 4 boys. My daughter in laws chose not to use the baby clothes their husbands wore. I totally understood.
Aw! That’s understandable for sure!

Offer the clothes on moms groups to help out a young one whose
parents may be struggling financially right now.

Are you wearing contacts now?
You really like green handles! Lol
They are just clothes, not your child. Give those clothes to a kid that needs them. Don’t save bins of clothes for grandkids!
