Driving Comparison | WLtoys K989[Almost stock] & K969[FOW+CS mod]

  • Опубликовано: 26 май 2021
  • Please note that this video is not a comparison between a stock K989 and a K969.
    The purpose of this video is to observe the "difference in driving with and without mods" between two cars, a "almost stock car" (K989) and a "car with FOW+CS mod done" (K969).
    WLtoys K9 series are basically the same car. (The only main difference is the differential and tires).
    Therefore, which one you choose is up to your preference.
    Whichever you choose, you can do the same with mods.
    "FOW" = Front one way (differential)
    A differential in which the driving force is transmitted only when moving forward, and the tires rotate freely except when moving forward. The brakes are applied only to the rear wheels.
    This action allows you to turn quickly when cornering.
    "CS mod" = Counter Steering mod
    In AWD, a modification that increases the rear gearing on the rear side of the drive shaft that connects the front and rear differentials, thereby increasing the number of revolutions of the rear wheels.
    This increases the traction of the rear wheels and makes them slippery, thus increasing the amount of time countersteering is used and creating RWD-like behavior.

    Great videos! man! I have a couple of questions about front diff if you don't mind. Firstly does the metal gear of the fow damage faster the plastic gear. And will it have much difference if I lock the front diff instead of the one way?

    • @studio55-jp
      @studio55-jp  2 года назад

      Thanks😊
      I used to use metal FOW (Sinohobby) and have had the pinion gear scraped. The Kyosho FOW I'm currently using is a plastic gear, so there's no problem at all.
      The front diff lock is completely different from FOW. This is my personal opinion, but I do not recommend using a front diff lock because it may reduce cornering performance.

    Hi, I was inspired by your video and got some of micro drift cars. How do you think of K969 stock tires? I am just fine with the stock, but does it improve to change tires?

    • @studio55-jp
      @studio55-jp  3 года назад +2

      I think the K969 stock tires have a strong grip. I think this is probably because it is set up for beginners. On the other hand, the DS Racing LF-3 and LF-5 that I use have a weak grip, so I recommend them because they can drift at low speeds and are easy to control. However, some people may find it difficult because it makes it easier to spin out. In other words, the movement of the car changes clearly just by changing the tires, but whether or not you feel that it has improved depends on your skill.

    • @fieldsmall1017
      @fieldsmall1017 3 года назад +1

      I see. Yes, it is slightly grippier than Kyosho tires, but I feel more controllable with stock ones. That was wondering now I got the answer.I will give it a try with slippery tires. Thank you!

    • @studio55-jp
      @studio55-jp  3 года назад

      @@fieldsmall1017
      Being able to drift at low speeds means that you only have to press the throttle trigger a little. This means that the throttle trigger has a wider operating range, which means more control. Please, try it😊

    • @fieldsmall1017
      @fieldsmall1017 3 года назад

      I use only 30-40% throttle at maximum by using throttle DR. Too sensitive to go with 100%, easily spins out. I just started drifting for a few weeks ago. I will practice.

      The differences between the K969 and the K989 are the differential, tires, and body shell.
      If you choose the K969, you can drift right out of the box.
      If you choose the K989, you will need to purchase drift tires as well. Also, with some simple modifications, the car will be almost identical to the K969.
      Therefore, it doesn't matter which one you choose, but if I had to recommend one, I would say that you should buy the K989 and modify it.
