It sounds like the name of a person, but the lack of titles implies mystery. It could be a someone you "have" heard of, a complete stranger, or even an unknowable entity. Only more questions arise when you figure out it's just a weird-ass sword.

Then you would never use this sword. 25% chance to multiply your damage by 9 translates to 2.25 damage multiplier on average. 885*2,25 = 1991, which is still lower then BE's 2055 STR, but makes you take 50% more damage and increases stamina comsuption. Sadly, Iraklis is just BE at home. On average. That is on top of very weird scaling: it starts with whopping 105 damage (lul), forging it to 3 star triples it for no reason, dragonforging adds another 40% and purification doubles it. It scales like a rusted sword in normal game and then like low rarity weapon in post game. Which means it probably will be on par with any weapon you can use at any given moment of your playthrough. On average. TL;DR: This sword is for believers only. Go big or go cry in pillow, because you just spent all your upgrade mats on this... thing.

Iraklis is a lot better than it seems on the stats, it actually has very comparable DPS to Bitter End assuming every fourth hit is a crit. Just getting lucky enough to crit on every third hit bumps the DPS well above every other longsword, though of course that doesn't happen consistently. Unless you like using lash/arc I think it's definitely the best longsword in the game if you can put up with a few unlucky strings of hitting enemies with a wet noodle.
Amazing, I was just thinking about giving Irakis a chance. I'm currently playing with the Force Hatchet and It is so much fun to try to do all that damage while trying not to get hit
there is no greater joy in the game that buffing your strength to maximum, equipping Iraklis, and landing a critical arc of obliteration. it's the closest thing to planet cracking we got.
Love to see Iraklis getting some love, fun pawn build: keep warrior pawn as low level as you can, equip Iraklis, hydra set, Augments Exhilaration, Vehemence, Clout, and (Tenacity). hilarity ensues, assuming it wasnt fixed, but trick is keeping pawn as low level as possible. play on easy, farm (small) rats in the stable in casardis for Disciple points without much exp gain. very tedious, rewarding? not really.
Dragons dogma two should add weapon knowledge. Give a vague description of the weapon amd after using it for a long time (and experiencing the hidden abilities) it gets written down in the weapon description.
As a warrior player for most of my 1200+ hours of DD:DA, I'd say you missed one caveat of Iraklis vs. Bitter End that is fairly important to warriors and that's the stagger and knockdown values. They're 207 units less than Bitter End. I enjoy using Iraklis but it does make it more difficult to get knockdowns and that can be a big deal for warrior if you solo like I do mostly. Really only matters in Post-Daimon BBI but I digress. Great video. Love to see Dragon's Dogma content. I just hope DD2 lives up to the hype. I'm trying to stay grounded in my expectations.
I'm insanely impatient for DD2 not only because I want to play the fucking game, but also because I cannot wait for more 10/10 content from this banger of a channel. It's literally split 50/50 for the source of my hype.
now that you explained what this weapon actually does opened my eyes to it. Warrior under normal circumstances is take hits and knock shit down its rarely a damage vocation but this weapon i know a skill thats rapid hit for warrior that could synergize with with this and I have an idea for my next pawn now.
A slight correction: only if it's a positive effect. If it's negative (25% chance of breaking, for example), it will most likely mean 100% on the first hit.
Iraklis is what I used to plat the game when starting bbi haha. Though daimon second form was not fun with bolide spam and me restricting myself to not use wakestones, op pawns, or periapts. Also was rocking the pure dark armor (not gold or silver forged) that is the closest to berserk and paired with iraklis was pretty much one shot everytime haha. Didn't use the broken ass sanctuary cheese augment iirc either.

WELL time to start a new save, STA stack on the pawn and see how he gets on in with the sword. Always wanted to use one of the gamble weapons on a pawn to see how dreadful it would be, I just needed an excuse
spending 2 minutes charging an attack to do fuck all damage over and over again is worth it for the one time it's a crit and you pop 7 healthbars in one swing i LOVE this sword

recently decided to restart my warrior exclusive character, mostly to make a better fighter pawn lol. can't wait to be back at max level, whacking the absolute shit out of every bad bastard in the game with my coin flip crab claw
Hmm, last time I played Dragon’s Dogma, I was pretty convinced Mystic Knight was my favorite class, but I never tried this weapon as a Warrior. It’s like a demon possesses the sword and is the once who decides when it is time to kill. I don’t know about the debuffs though. I guess I’ll find out when I try it.
The problem here is defense. On small, consistent hits defense gets applied to every strike. Getting the occasional x9 hit is still only reduced once. Without that "balance" shattering caveat it would probably average out. Instead we just need to roll the dice as many times as possible to win...
