  • We spend a few days exploring Barbate and restocking the cupboards. We take a long trek into the forest and take in the humbling view of the Straits. We then head back to do some boat jobs. Hugh and Tilly install the new water tank gauge before disaster strikes and Hugh fouls one of the fuel tanks.
We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have t he guts to cast off. Follow our adventures.

Hi Kelly & Hugh. It was lovely to meet you all especially the kids. They are an absolute credit to you both. So much fun and you can see from your videos that they love the sailing life. Safe travels and I'm sure our paths will cross again. Daryl & Shirley SV Dream Catcher.

Thank you that means a lot. It’s always a bit of a gamble straying from the ‘normal path’ but it’s working so well for us. The kids have learnt things and seen things that others only dream of. They are currently outside playing with a little German boy having a wonderful time despite not being able to speak each others language. Moments like this are priceless. There is a lovely ice-cream shop and a toy shop here so they have put the money you gave them to good use. Thanks again for that it was so kind. I’m sure we will meet again too 😊

That’s wonderful to hear. We have learnt so much from watching other people’s videos so it’s nice that we have done the same for you.

Our previous boat didn’t have a fuel gauge either. I used a thin bit of dark wood (raid the wood store!) which was long enough to reach the bottom of the tank and leave plenty sticking out to hold. Between uses the wood dried out and so was ready for the next check.
    Any use on Esperance?

This is a great idea and as you say much harder to lose in the tank.
