It’s an awkward one, usually cheaper lasers are better because they often use silicon oil in the toner of the more expensive lasers and nothing much sticks to silicon, the downside is that cheaper lasers don’t take thicker card 😢

@@7books88 I switched off tonor saving mode hoping it would help but I didn't get to try a print due to network not being able to find my drivers, once I can resolve that then I'll let you know how it went 😂 or try turning tonor save mode off and let me know how it goes haha

Hi! Have you ever printed burgundy or dark red foil lettering onto gold pearl shimmer paper? If so, did it turn out to be readable or not? I want a lazer printer and foiler capable of fine detail. Also what do you think about laminators vs industry standard foilers like the Foil Tech, FT-12 Foil for example........laminators cost about £150, whereas the foiler machines cost around £2000. Is the only difference the speed at which they work or is quality affected too, please.

I have had the same problem. I found that embossing de-static powder bag around the printed image helps to reduce the speckles. Keep it off the printed image though.

Hello Swayam...Toner foiling will stick onto Black and Colour Toner...so no point printing in colour if you want to foil in gold....print in black and foil afterwards...it is cheaper, if you want a colour background but want to foil on top...print the background with inkjet printer, then overprint design or text with laser printer then foil....foil won't stick to the ink only Toner

Please Note: Although I did test Prints on my office Samsung Printer this does NOT mean that Samsung Printers offer the Best Toner for Foil Printing...I forgot to mention in my demo video that I use REFILL CARTRIDGES... NOT ORIGINAL SAMSUNG TONER CARTRIDGES... The refills work perfectly fine for my needs Most Lazer Printers will do the job...if your results are inconsistent it may be because of a specific Toner brand's formulation or possibly a slight batch to batch difference that is causing you problems...in this case try prints on other Laser printers at your local copy shop.... PS...I have found my results are better when using a Monochrome Printer ( Black & White ) Rather than a colour printer...print the Image on the DARK setting...this will put down more toner for the foil to adhere to.

Hello Ataur....using a laminator for foil printing is a slow process I agree, but when you have short runs it is much cheaper than conventional foil printing because you do not need foiling blocks {Dies}...only photocopy...printers are not really interested in doing short runs 50 / 100 / 200 or they are very expensive

Hello Lanesc....I can use standard photocopy paper 80 gsm. 160 - 200 gram smooth board any kind just as long as the surface is smooth....I do not need Photo paper...any smooth board will work....maybe your laminating machine is not right...what is wrong when you print onto other paper ?
when you say it does not work...what does not work the printing on the paper or the foiling onto the Toner....I have no problem using this, I do not use hi gloss photo paper...
Hello Luisito...It really doesn't matter what make of Laser printer you use....it depends on the Toner, I use an bottom of the range Samsung Xpress M2070F printer and this works for me....I also do not use original Samsung Cartridges, I use refilled cartridges which work just fine....so there is no reason The Brother should not work.
Hello Swayam...try to use a laminator that can adjust temperature because foils require a higher temperature to activate than laminating adhesive....I usually work at around 130 Celcius...but I can increase temperature up to 160 but I have never used this temperature, some entry level machines don't get hot enough for foiling...so it is better if you can buy a machine where you can set temperature....hope this helps.

I use a cheap Samsung Xpress M2070F....but any printer should work....I even use refilled cartridges, not original Samsung and this works fine, for best foiling results you need compatible Toner....maybe first get some prints done on both printers test for foiling and see which one works best.

When I print on white paper it looks clean. When I foil it transfers foil onto areas that appear to be free of toner. What do I do to prevent this.

The foiling onto the toner is not good. Probably my minc heide swapp foiling machine is broken or something. Thanks for the reply.

You can't. Inkjet doesn't have the heat-reactive toner to apply foil. Laser or LED printers can though
