The Cost Of 20,000 Miles In The Porsche 991 GT3!

- Опубликовано: 11 июл 2020
- This is my Porsche 911 991 GT3 manual! A car I bought with a very long term view to the ownership - to enjoy across track days, road trips and daily driving. I'm just over 20,000 miles in now and it's about to have its next major service - so what have the costs been so far?

Supercar ownership as it should be: driving the wheels off it at every occasion AND on track, without constantly fretting over values and finance
No, that's called being rich
@@MrDrmorbid tru... but still, while I wouldn't call this a supercar... these cars and more super ones are meant to be driven, not to be sitting in a museum.
Zishan Syed gt3 not a supercar? This thing is a mammoth on a track.....
@@simon8089 No 911 is really a supercar and that's precisely why I love them so much! I mean maybe the RSes, but as far as I'm concerned 911s are sportscars, not supercars. The Carrera GT is a supercar, the 918 is a hypercar, but the 911 is a sportscar to me. I've never fancied a supercar for myself, I admire them and drool over their looks and stats and sounds, but I would probably not own one, I'll definitely own and drive a 911! In fact, I'm kind of half seriously looking for a a GT3 Touring atm. Let me know if u know someone that wants to sell...
@@zishansyed8905why CGT and 918 are not in the same league? I thought 918 replaced the CGT. And never understood hyper/super car difference.
But agree with you about the 911.
I love the idea of owning a car for life. The experiences, the scars, the stories are all there and give it so much character.
i try but with how shity car build in normal.. it just better to just get new one.. after 20 years...
Exactly, like ever so slight wear on an alcentara steering wheel after driving it hard around on a track
@@BijanIzadi gotta wear gloves!
Completely agree with you!
"So what have the costs been so far?"
1800 pads + 4000 tires (normally) =5800 pounds.
Really curious what the service will cost!
So nice to see someone actually driving their car as intended. There are so many You Tubers out there just drive them around London with silly exhausts. Keep up the great work!
Sports-cars are never intended to be dailydriven. Toyota is a car that is meant to be dailydriven. Sportscars are meant to be special to escape on the weekends or late nights
I think it’s brilliant your actually running this car as a long term plan. So many you tubers car guys are simply running a car for a few months and passing it on. Actually seeing a car like this run for a long term is going to be really interesting to follow. Keep the running updates going. I’m hooked 👍
Legend for daily driving a MANUAL gt3. Would do the same, if possible ( and i really want those glasses 👓 )
Same, anyone know what brand and model are those sun glasses?
Chen L Thom Browne model TB808 if I’m correct mate
Alexandre LGrand mate, incredibly expensive those glasses, OMG, especially here in Brasil, about 9 THOUSAND and then some
Nope. Honda's little CTR is faster and has more room. The new RS will also be faster. All at a fraction of the price. Porsche has dropped the ball a long time ago. Except for the high HIGH end cars, it's a joke (performance wise)...
Ronan B I have never heard such drivel. It’s all about the felling mate
True definition of daily driver. One journey...a man and his car. Beautiful. What an epic idea and car to go along with it, thanks for the vid
Great video. In the market for a well spec’d GT3 so this is a good overview of what to expect
This stuff is super cool and insightful! As someone who dreams of one day owning a 991.2 GT3 it’s nice to see it’s a supercar that’s very much usable and reliable!
Errrrrm it's not a supercar my friend.
hewhoknowseverything what is it?
Adam02M a fwd hatchback obviouslx
@@matthewortega5492 it's not a super car
@@matthewortega5492 is an m5 a super car
I’m genuinely excited to see how far you can push this GT3. It’ll truly show the reliability of Porsche.
watching your videos always make my day better thanks a lot and hope that you will be the biggest in the business
Thanks for the support - lots of epicness to come!
Love the vids, James! Cheers! 👍
I really enjoy these videos. Showing and explaining things as you did James. I'm glad you're driving the GT3 daily.
These are my favorite videos. I want to hear real people talking about their own cars. Well done!!
Really love how much you appreciate this vehicle and understand the costs of ownership and want to use it for what it was made for.
I love that you daily this and plan to keep it a long time! Definitely my dream car.
How refreshing to see a well known RUclipsr properly use their car! It's liberating knowing you don't have to worry about the mileage you do for fear of values.. My 991.2 C2S gets used at every opportunity. Well done sir!
Yes James!!!! You’re the perfect owner for this car!
Exactly my thoughts!
Funny how you reference Chalk looking like primer - I've just had my S15 resprayed in Chalk and one person has already mistaken it for the primer before the actual colour coat. Haha
A gt3 video with Mr JWW is always a bit nostalgic and heart warming 😌 Thanks for this, fun stuff to follow 👍🏽
Excited to see the service content! Thanks for sharing!
Hearing a GT3 drive by never gets old, same with seeing them👀🥰 Definitely always has been and always will be my dream car.
Nice to see a RUclipsr making a video as to Why your KEEPING the car, rather then the often “Why I’m selling my car” videos. Well done James.
Good to see that you are properly using the GT3. I had a 986 Boxster bought new and 15 years later when I sold it it had 108,000 miles on it with no major faults during its time with me
Love that you drive your cars. The GT3, AMG GTR PRO, and Viper TA are all cars i am looking at for my first supercar. Great info.amd video as always James.
Good to see someone driving their cars and putting the miles on !!!
I see that Ratino shirt James, love this car so much. I think the chalk grey is my favorite Porsche second to Miami Blue
@Jorn Navarre even if it is, it looks damn good on this car
20000 miles, I'm impressed. I look forward very much to more information about your next major service. Keep it coming Mr JWW
Great video. Looking forward to hearing about the next 20K miles. Love to see how PPF helps out over time. Heritage vehicle for your son someday.
I love this car, this awesome dude and this amazing channel!
I always enjoy watching your videos.Keep up the good work and enjoy your Porsche.
Drove my Mr Purple yesterday !!! Love ❤️ Love a GT3RS!!! The sounds are like no other!!!
I love the track map under the bonnet idea. i'm going to do that to my Cayman
Love your channel James, and looking forward to new and exciting content coming next!
Thanks dude
A driven car is a happy car. Big thumbs up for Mr.JWW.
First time clicking on one of JWWs vids. Massive respect for driving the crap out of this car
love it great car and great to see you using it so much, good coms as always ☘️
I totally loved this thank u for being so open with costs etc I hope to join u one day in Porsche land 😍
That colour 🥰 It’s like you know the cars I dream of owning. And you can actually own them! Between this and the RS6, would be the first two cars I’d buy if I had the money! Beautiful machines! Used properly! Congrats James, really living the dream man 👊
Fair play on the daily driving and the miles you have covered! 👍
Its so nice you drive it everyday and don't hide it away in a garage like most gt3 owners do 😃
James by far the best car you tuber out there, love the fact you are different and don’t follow all the cringe fads like going through a drive thru also can’t wait for the bunker and all the amazing content that will follow especially with the track
Love the long term nature of this video. Would love to know how you're maintaining the alcantara in your car, especially the steering wheel.
I love your channel, also because i'm honored to have the same car 991.2 GT3, same color but PDK. I don't use it every day, but i can confirme what you said. It's a fantastic supercar you can use not only for track-days but on every roads. Thank you for these kind of videos!
Lovely video. Wonderful info. Thank you very much.
What a car 🚗 and the manual trans mission. I’m 48 and have never owned an automatic . Always fun
I really like your idea of hanging on to the car and passing it to your son. I have the same plan of handing down my 993 (manual Carrera 4) to my. daughter one day....hopefully!
About 36,000kms on my GT3 over a year and a bit. If it wasn’t for Canadian winter I’d drive it all year round. Fantastic car 🙏🏼💙
Thanks for the heads up on the inserts!
Beating on it like it's an old Daewoo.. that's how these should be used!
New here? The R8 had it rough LOL
I have a 997.1 Turbo Metzga manual which I will keep for my son. Love the channel.
This video is helpful to those who’ve recently bought a 991.2 gt3. Of course they’re not going to be new given the 992 being out as I write this- so the people who are now able to get the 991.2 gt3 like myself find this type of stuff very helpful to know. Thanks James!
Thanks Keith!
Love it didn't even cut out the sponge behind seat pad nicely lol
Send it 💪🏼😂
The mk2 gt3 is the best super car for the UK. Most people will never know youve got a car that is faster than most ferraris/ lambos and just dimis it for just another porsche. The mk 2 gt3 has the best exhaust note from any car ever. My absolute dream car and best car for a one car guatage. Nice to see someone who has it set up for daily and uses it for track aswell!
Always watch your GT3 content 👍! 🍻 to keeping it 4ever 👌!
I LOVE that car. Thanks for sharing
This is a great Porsche video" Subscribed!
Daily driving a Porsche with bucket seats and pccb, you're a legend
Good to see an over view. With costs included.
EPIC spec, EPIC scenery
What a car! Pure driving pleasure!
Love the video, absolutely amazing channel.... As you are doing the major service with notes that you are tracking the car, how do the suspension bushes and the motor mounts look?
Loved this video!
Hey James! Can you do some watch reviews? I know you have some APs but maybe some other cool watches? Would love to see your review of them and some close up shots :))) love your content as always ❤️
Now THIS is a proper car review video! 👍
If you would have a vacuum line for the valves come of you‘d have instantly got ‚Check coolant failure‘ light.
Trust me, I’ve done about 10 981 and 991s in my time at Porsche.
Awesome for you using the car though!! Keep it up James!!
Great car. Seems like the Touring would have been the way to go for you. Your seat modifications tell the story for daily use. Plus that wing is in the way if you aren’t going for lap times.
Good vid... informative and honest
Love your new sunglasses James, are you going to have dozens of different designs or mainly just focussing on your style at the moment? Would love to check it out when you set it public!
what a ride! love it!
Currently averaging 23k miles per sticker. Can we aim to have more than 5 at 100k 🤣
One of your best videos so far.. Love all the details and also what you said to maybe give this timeless machine to your son
Love the "real-world" vibe of this video 👍
5:28 you said this abot the TDF😂
Hey James, the holes in the brake discs are mainly for cleaning the pads, noch for cooling. It has near to no effect on the cooling
YES!!....you bought the car to DRIVE IT and you are doing just that sir!
The shades are 🔥
Congratulations on using this car the right way. 20k miles not bad. Hope see how the major service gos.
SAM from seenthroughglass just posted his up for sale with 33k miles.
Well this is a happy GT3, can’t wait to see new journey with 👌🏻
Love the content. Keep up the excellent work. Saw GT3, clicked immediately.
Question: @ 3:48 Where to get the seat custom bracket and how to install? Any links to it?
It’s documented on Rennlist
Love that car James it's a keeper for sure .
Well there's no chance James is selling it after this video 🤣😂🤣
Love your sticker of the ring, and the idea behind it
I also get the faulty parking brake error on my 981 GT4 intermittently, just had my major service on it too, no issues
U can definitely daily a manual car even living in busy cities. Done 42k miles on my R53 Mini JCW driving it to n from work on a daily basis for the past 4 yrs
And the clutch on those is super heavy!
I'm curious when it goes into service what the clutch life is at 🤔
Much respect for driving this car daily
I can see that you also have scouring of the inner wheel barrel due to stones getting stuck between the caliper and the wheel.
Love that car , ps is that your houses grounds your on?? 😳😎😎👍🏻
Love the spec. and the seat lifts. Will try and source them here in North America. I installed CF ram air scoops. Would love to send you a couple pics and get you thoughts
Hello James! Hope you are staying safe and healthy!
I’ve just purchased the exact same car , my last GT3 I used every day 😍
Next year, this car has to go on the Snow Tour!!!!
I’m planning on DDing my gt3 when I get mine in the next few months!
Congrats..PDK or Manual
are the aftermarket pads enough are would you have chosen comfort seats for daily use if you had to spec it again?
Looking forward to seeing you again soon
The exhaust valve, e brake and the holder in the frunk should be covered under warranty, right?
Yes a comment. We’d love to see you at COTA and have you add the sticker under the hood! Cheers from Texas, USA
Hey James what brand is the seat bracket and do you have a link to the supplier?
Awesome content as always, mine too is due on track again in 24 days cannot wait 😀✌
I’m so glad you’re back and going strong with your videos James. I’m chuffed about the cancellation of Goodwood, but happy to have you keeping the automotive flame lit!
The new f40 amazing brilliant car congrats dude 👍👍👍
