Yummy 😋 I love doing beans in the crockpot! Especially for tostadas! They really are quick and easy to whip up. Including your salsa recipes! Thanks for the reminder!
I'm a big fan of the crockpot method, too. I remember my mom cooking beans in a pot over the stove growing up. If I forgot to check on them and add water, I'd get in trouble. lol Thanks for taking the time to comment.
A very basic version, but delicious. The great thing is that you can add ingredients to your taste. I like onions, and having spent part of my youth in New Mexico, a nice little addition of chopped Hatch Green chiles is awesome.
We had tostadas this week, it's a great summer meal when it's hot out. We usually put either black refried beans or mashed potato, shredded meat if we have it, shredded lettuce, Mexican cream and queso fresco on top of the cream. Salsa is added by the eater. My question is how to clean those trays? And glass pans? Mine are so stained and I don't know what to do.
Wow! I never would have thought of mashed potatoes. But I'm game to try it! As far as cleaning baking trays, I'm no expert, but I use baking soda with a little vinegar and it works pretty well. You just let it soak for a while before scrubbing. And, of course, there's always Brillo pads. Hope that works for you.
I’m unsubscribing. There’s no place for religious proselytizing or even subtle messaging on a cooking show unless you are intending to make non-Christian viewers feel unwelcome. It worked: I’m out.
I like to add a sprinkle of cooked chorizo, it’s very delicious.
Yum! I love chorizo in refried beans.
I love your presentation of food.
Thank you! I appreciate your kind comment.

I love beans and we do have tostadas often the plain refried bean tostada is my favorite(my husband likes the ones with meat added). We compromise 😊
Compromise is what marriage is all about. I'm the same way with burritos. I always prefer a simple bean and cheese burrito to anything else.
