Everything - the set-up. The outfits. The wall of sound. The look. The dance. The beat. The call & response. America's first GREAT 'rock' band. Brutal.
To me Bo Diddley is one of the most undervalued stars in history what a class act, to me he is a Superstar of rock and roll certainly in the top 10, He had the charisma and talent that I cannot even describe! He is one guy that made a difference in this world!
Love bo diddley and chuck berry and bill Hailey ,the true kings f rock and roll. Also love Elvis, Carl Perkins, and buddy Holley. They started twelve years before I was born, I just love them, the music literally moved me
I'm 70 now, seen it & done it (was at the Hendrix Festival I.O.W. ) wore the T shirt But this really turned me on WHO THE FUCK was Bo Diddley I do not know but any one who takes a nanny goat into an alley and cuts its throat just for a rice and beans ambitious in lyrics, I am vegetarian.
Awesome song! IMO this man was ahead of his time listen to the riffs he was doing what I call the chug sound before a lot of heavy metal musicians was doing it!
is there anyone else wh o wrote a self titled song? The only other one I know is Bad Company singing the song "Bad Company" but that isnt a person..just te name of the band..here Bo writes song titled about himself lol
None of these are reflecting the first and most accurate "Bo Diddley" Sun recording of 1955. The soundtrack to "Fritz the Cat" back in the 1970's had that 1955 version. Wonder where it is today? I've been a Diddley fan since 1965 and had found that version on RUclips just a few months ago. Any ideas on where it might be Jorge?
@englebertslapptyback Hell yes, Strummer knew good music! Another one he turned Clash fans onto was Lee Dorsey (Ya Ya, Workin' in a Coalmine) as well as Bo and Joe (Ely). He was no music snob, and my music experience and record collection are all the better for it! I don't know if headlining bands get any choice in their opening bands anymore, but it's cool that Joe had open ears, and really, maybe even saved the record company some $ by digging up those guys(?)
I think so. That was probably Norma Jean Walford aka The Duchess. As for Chuck Berry "Introducing" Bo Diddley it's not really a surprise. Remember they both Recorded for Chess Records in the early days of their Career along with Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf, and Muddy Waters. Also, this was from The VHS Version of The T.A.M.I. Show. Teen Age Music International. If you can, get the DVD, more extras truly amazing.
@@bits362 Try The Scream Factory. They acquired The Rights to The T.A.M.I. Show. Here is the Website. www.shoutfactory.com/screamfactory I bought it at HMV before it went bankrupt. Hope this helps.
@@bits362 Okay thanks for the info. Was the TNT Show a "Sequel" to The T.A.M.I. Show. The reason why I asked is that I had the "original" T.A.M.I. Show on VCR back in the day and they showed Bo Diddley. Either way those Concerts were amazing. It was the first time I saw an early performance of Ike & Tina Turner in Black & White.
Bought my first Bo Diddley album in 1962. 'Bo Diddley's a gun slinger'. Was quite surprised twelve months later he was found by others through the Rolling Stones. Though in the UK 1963 onward it was Chuck Berry the record buyers preferred. Must say I still preferred Bo's music.
I was fortunate to see him live at the Whiskey a Go Go on the Sunset Strip circa late 1966 or early-mid 1967. A legend. I had a friend who had gone to Washington High School in San Francisco, and she told me that she and two other friends had taken one of their male teachers to see Bo Diddley at the Fillmore Auditorium. She said that he was transfixed at the sight of Bo Diddley's sister, known as "The Duchess" (I think that would be the lady with the guitar), and he became infatuated. She had a cool teacher.
Everything - the set-up. The outfits. The wall of sound. The look. The dance. The beat. The call & response.
America's first GREAT 'rock' band. Brutal.
Outstanding comments.
" Bo Diddley , Bo Diddley where have you been.....
Been around the world........
And I'm going back again ".🎶🎶
He was ahead of his time! The first one to do the Chug sound on his guitar that metal heads do today! R.I.P. one of my faves!
Yeah, that wold not be amiss even in mid-70s
10 times better than the stones
Gotta love a woman that can play electric guitar!
To me Bo Diddley is one of the most undervalued stars in history what a class act, to me he is a Superstar of rock and roll certainly in the top 10, He had the charisma and talent that I cannot even describe! He is one guy that made a difference in this world!
You know the music's good when you find yourself nodding your head in time to it. Those riffs could cut ice.
I can hear velvet underground and punk in this...the holy grail of rock rhythm!!
Yea, you are right! This music is the seed. All the cool stuff people came up with later - it was inside of Bo's music already.
Johnny Marr - How soon is now!
Bo Diddley introduced by Chuck Berry? Yeah I can deal with that.
I was not sure it was Chuck, thanks for justifying my owe

First heard him in the 50s and really liked his style & songs.
Love Bo Diddley!!!!!!!! If he isn't in the R&R Hall of fame he should be.
He's been in since the first class was inducted in 1986.

The Prove that time travelling was real decades ahead
I can't believe this guitar tone was used, or even heard in 1964!
All the great roots rhythms of rock and roll started in the 50's. Check Bo on Ed Sullivan in 1955.
Durch diese Singel fand ich zum Rock n Roll

There is another one--it's obscure--paul rever and the raiders released a song around 1965 ? titled "the ballad of paul revere"..very hard to find.

Why is the sound recorded inside a toilet?
If they could somehow remove the annoying yelling sounds in the background
The TAMI show really was live.

One word: dirrrrrrty.
What a fucking lousy audio! 😠
The most famous person to ever get famous by writing a song about himself.
+Mark. Gallaher You know you bad when you write a song about yourself, and make it SOUND that good!!
+michael swanson: THAT! Lol.
Not only one song, but two songs: "Bo Diddley" and "Hey! Bo Diddley", and both songs is on his debut album aptly named... "Bo Diddley". What a legend!
@@persjodin3407 : I tried something like that. 'Dudek Fox You Foxy Thing', but it fell on deaf ears, lol.
Truth..this Giant of Rhythm and Blues aka Rock and roll was the catalyst for the STONES to this day 🎶🎸
Chick playing gutair and dancing in step... powerful
PLAY IT BO DIDILEY!!!!! I can feel his music....I don't know why, but I just do. Does that sound crazy???
Bo Diddley inspired Don Everly to adopt a driving rhythm guitar style that led to the distinctive guitar rhythms in Bye Bye Love.
man, Bo could dance too!

Seminal. Ground-breaking. Way ahead of their time. Seriously bad mother fo music.

I don't know why, but when he walks down from that riser, he reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn.
Because he's very virile, and struts. Raised on a farm, to boot :)
