    Interfaith relationships between people who are actually serious about their faith are not likely to work, especially for a Christian. It will get messy when the Christian feels they need to hear from God to make big decisions, or volunteer at the church every other day, or give 10% of their finances to the church and the other person will be looking at them like they are crazy....and then of course brining children into it complicate it even more.

      I agree with you. If a person takes their religion seriously it will cause problems, not just for Christians though. All religions have some overlap in their teachings, but then the parts that make them different are huge. If you're only a certain religion in name, not so big a deal. I lived next door to a couple that was Catholic and Buddhist. They were expecting a baby and one day I asked out of curiosity what religion they were going to raise their child in. They said they didn't know and had never thought or talked about it. So years later, basically they put up a Christmas tree every year but that's it. They aren't religious at all and it works for them.

  • @abby4027
    @abby4027 6 месяцев назад +4

    I think ultimately shared values are important. I’d want my partner to share certain values. 1) Parenting: I think having conflicting CORE values is confusing to kids.
    2) I think big life decisions stem around values and I want us to be on the same page.
    I think it can work in certain small value differences in HOW you do things but that not DIFFERENT values.
    For example, you and your husband can both agree that a higher education is important (instilling that value early because you obviously can’t make that decision for your adult kid). However, one parent could be for vocational schooling while the other wants college. To me the end result is a shared value of education. It just presents differently.

    The overall answer is no but of course always there will be exceptions.
    But also there is a difference in starting a relationship with these diferences and people change paths during the relationship.
    The person who is changing in faith or political views should be patient with the one who is not.
    Once they can find a common ground of respect for sure different views or beliefs won’t hurt their relationship.

    I've been watching Chynna's podcast for a few years now and really enjoy it- it's pretty lol hilarious at times, listening to her and Billy discussing their faith and lives together and Billy's reactions to her are LOL - they are comical- and I believe, also, the real deal. It's pretty raw and not "doctored up"- nothing seems put on or contrived- they are both speaking their minds and hearts. I love that The View covered this topic today. **btw, if my husband were to publicly state his love for me and added, "I absolutely adore you" in front of the world, I would break down bawling my eyes out for days.** Billy's a good guy. Love those two. Whatever your religious beliefs are, it's interesting to watch/listen to. I haven't heard any political sparring or chatter from them about that so far- maybe i'm missing those episodes. Again, regardless, I think they're funny and interesting. **just my opinion"...everyone has one...lolol.

Also, for me, I could handle a political difference as long as it isn’t like Tea Party or cultish. But a different in religion, no. I’m devout Christian and I want my children to be raised in a Christian household. I have respect for all faiths but for marriage, we have to be on the same page spiritually.

    Sprituality ISN'T equal to the religions. Religions are human tools for power and control. STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION.
    Spirituality is the interconnection with oneself to search for the purpose/ meaning of existence which involves with one's exploration of beliefs through his/ her awakened consciousness.

    Sounds to me the problem with Alec Baldwin is that his wife wasn't religious when they got married and now she's changed. And it's a big change and it's a solo change on her side, he doesn't get any say in it. This will break them up, I'm telling you, unless she gets so religious she has to do the whole "obey your husband" thing and he says no more Jesus lol
