Sunny is right! I have learned this the hard way. If you tell someone that you don't like their significant other, they actually just draw closer to that person.
After this backfired on me about three times, I sat and thought about this for a long time and did a deep dive, and I've come to the conclusion that a large reason why they just grow closer to the person is because of their own pride.
It's like all they hear you telling them is that they aren't good at decision making, so they're almost trying to prove to you that they are good at decision making.
I actually feel like it's less to do with that actual partner themselves than to do with them feeling like you're questioning their judgment. You're saying one thing because you care about them, but what they're hearing is that you're questioning their abilities, and they don't like that, so it's almost like an act of rebellion to stay with that person to prove a point.

In our country few groups do arranged marriage but we don't want someone our children to be in abusive relationship. Don't want them to be exploited.
Don't want them to be with uneven yoke.
We want them to be at least equally yoked.

Equally socially/ status/ financial
But respected treated with love.
Unfortunately. Children, often fall in love with people, Who don't meet our standards .
My family tried arranged relationships but they weren't always compatible.
The best thing is try to raise our children to center themselves around people who are òf our status.
It is not easy,unless we keep them in a private environment. Where they don't meet anyone but who is raised in our social/ economic/ educational environment.

Most doctors are privileged. Usually they have someone in there family whether it be parents, grandparents or uncles and aunts. The boyfriend that builds bikes might be more intellectual than his girlfriend but didn't have the pathway to higher learning. Many of the most successful people in history didn't go to college and thank God they didn't.

Will you let your highly educated child marry someone like this? Stop pretending ladies and stop playing games and being dishonest. He may be a wonderful guy but after years together, communication can become a problem. if he is socially inept, that can cause arguments down the road. He may develop low self-esteem being in the company of highly educated people etc. I am not knocking him but look at the whole picture. Sunny especially would never agree to her child dating or marrying someone who is uneducated or has no social skills. The problems that can later develop may be huge.

The mother sounds very elitist in all of this. Just because someone isn’t well educated or what she considers attractive, doesn’t mean he isn’t a good person. People who don’t tick those boxes deserve love and romance as well.
