Why doesn’t she mention exactly what was offered to Palestinians?! It is very easy to say that they rejected the two states solutions with out mentioning the details which makes a huge difference. @@tiac9211 its not a minority share of their own land. the civilians that live in Gaza/West Bank never had a state/government of Palestine. It was the British until 48 and the Ottomans before them. Don't mix up modern day Palestinians with British mandate Palestine. Ironically, Israel was the first government to offer them an independent state.

She didn't gloss over anything. You glossed over what she said. She said in 2000, her husband, President Clinton had a 2 state solution on the table, Arafat rebuffed it. She said in 2005, Israel uprooted every Israeli, 50K settlers from Gaza & handed over the settlements & the greenhouses to the Palestinians. It was the first step of negotiated peace, between Arafat & Sharon (Was a much bigger hardliner than Netanyahu), the two leaders. Days afterward, Hamas, from those same territories, fired rockets into Israel, ending any hope of peace. What happened afterwards was a civil war between Hamas & Arafat's Fatah. She said many Palestinians were killed by Hamas, they actually threw Fatah commanders & soldiers off roofs. Hamas won, took over Gaza & supposedly won election there in 2006. She said Arafat (The Palestinians) removed from its charter violence against Israel, something that Hamas has in their charter today, to remove all Jews from Israel, hence the slogan from the river to the sea. She said that she made an attempt for a two state solution when she was Sec. of State, that is between 2012-2016. What Obama tried to do is to try to persuade the radical left to still vote Democrat, basically trying to thread the needle by blaming both sides, as if Israel started a war on October 7 & committed war crimes then. Hillary laid out facts & history. She said that Israel made peace with Egypt & Jordan, 2 countries that were in many wars with Israel. That there was still hope if the Palestinians get a new leader to replace Hamas leadership, one who can reach out their hand like Sadat did. Sadat was murdered for it. But Egypt & Israel have a lasting peace for nearly 40 years. Israel already has a track record of making peace with Arab nations. The Palestinians, on the other hand, tried to overthrow the King of Jordan, committed atrocities in Egypt, put Lebanon into civil war & are now controlled by their local mafia, Hezbollah. There is a reason why dozens of Muslim countries don't want to take in the Palestinians, they simply don't want to turn their country into turmoil, because of their history. Sadly, Iran is using them to drive a wedge between Israel & the Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, which just 2 months ago said they were about to make a historic peace agreement between the 2 countries.
She mentioned multiple times where they could have had a resolution for Palestinians but the government of the Palestinians refused the two state offers on multiple occasions.

Very impressed by Hillary's bringing up of the Thai migrant workers who truly had zero social safety net after many of them were killed and kidnapped by Hamas. Those migrants couldn't even effectively communicate with emergency personnel and were basically left to fend for themselves after the attacks by hiding out in rural areas of Israel. Zero stake in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and yet they were still targeted. I've always noticed Hillary likes to place focus on groups that are often small and hidden in the grand scheme of things. Always love to hear her opinion on foreign policy, she's very well-informed and has first-hand experience with the actors involved in so many recent conflicts during her tenure as Secretary of State. Once again, necessary critique of Hamas is a far cry from ignoring the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. Like she said, you can say both things at the same time. The silence from the co-hosts and the audience as she spoke showed a true intent to listen to her thoughts, which I appreciated. Dare I say, she sounded very presidential here.

Except she forgot the bring up the Balfour Declaration which created the State of Israel. It’s not the nation of Israel because that is made up of the lost tribes. The Balfour Declaration expired 10/31. Israel has overstayed its land lease. If anyone thinks that the most heavily guarded state was caught off guard and would not have made the parashooters an easy target or that it took the military 6 hours to respond to this attack has some research to do on the IDF. Then they can research on how both CIA and Mossad created Hamas and still funds them. Things r not as they seem.

I’m a Thai-American living in LA and I’ve been watching the news from Thailand to keep up with the situation. Thank you, Madam Secretary for bringing awareness of Thai people being held as hostage by Hamas. About 30 Thai citizens were killed by Hamas. Some were found hiding in the bunker and killed. Some were hit by bombs. Many wives lost their husbands. Many children lost their fathers. Many parents lost their sons. One man lost both of his sons. Many hostages are unaccounted for. I hope both sides can come to a resolution soon.

She was on point telling the history. This was also mentioned by Hilary Clinton in one of her interviews. Secretary Clinton also stated that when her husband was the president, Yasser Arafat, the PLO leader was offered a Palestinian state but he declined. 😢

When people are asked if Israel has any responsibility on whats going on, or asked about the context in which it is happening, politicians always answer "its a long and complicated issue". She says there was a peace "treaty" before Oct 7, which included hundreds of illegal settlements in the West Bank, 1500 Palestinians jailed without any due process, and Gaza being supervised and controlled from water, air and land. I HIGHLY doubt, her or any other other human would be okay with that "peace treaty".

She still painted Israel as the good side that doesn't bare any blame. What about that Obama believed Netanyahu didn't respect American interests and the two had a very dysfunctional relationship? What about Trump, yes Trump saying in an interview in 2021 that before he met with Israeli and Palestinian leadership, he assumed that Palestinians were unreasonable and the Israelis wanted peace and to make a deal. But after getting to know each side, he thought it was the opposite. And he said, he did not believe Netanyahu wanted peace with the Palestinians.
Personally, I don't care about who's to blame or who did what thru the decades. My problem is if there's no criticism of Israel, like Hilary just said when she interpreted Obama's words, it means we are giving Israel a blank check. And with that, they are going to drag us down and hurt America in the process. I don't think Israel understands what they are doing, they are too emotional. They think this war will eliminate terrorism, but they are inadvertently laying the seeds for more hatred among the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. They may or may not eliminate Hamas, but they won't eliminate terrorism this way. And guess who's going to have to foot the bill for higher security costs? The US. Not to mention Israel's war undermines Ukraine's war in the eyes of most of the world outside the West. We shouldn't let Israel run our foreign policy and national security because of their very understandable anger after Oct 7th. I understand their pain and fear, I remember 9/11. But I can not agree with their approach to handling it, they need to learn the lessons from our reaction to 9/11.

It is crazy that the U.S. is the only wealthy nation on earth without tax funded universal healthcare and higher education. I concur with your point on the disproportionate role Isreal plays in U.S. politics. But I am much more concerned that a racist government's genocidal and cruel oppression of people (including babies and children) is being funded by our tax dollars than I am that we fund Isreali healthcare. I want them to have healthcare (as well as us). I prioritize the genocidal problem over being upset they have healthcare.

The word was created during the Nazi war criminal trials at Nuremberg because they had never been anything like what the Nazis did. There was genocide in Rwanda. There was genocide in Cambodia. When you (and many others) throw around words without understanding their definition, they lose their important meanings.

There is nothing complex about it. The surviving Jews from Europe came in 1948 after the holocaust and started to take over the Palestinian land piece by piece just because it was promised to them in the Torah? How is that logic? If we are not Jews, why do we have to comply with what is stated in the Torah? And if you are a Jew born outside Palestine, you have the birthright to have a piece of land? The so-called Israel state now is killing the Palestinians and hijacking their land. Tell me how this a complex situation? Also, when the survivor of the Holocaust came in in 1948, the Palestinians welcomed them and gave them shelter in their homes.

Giving the history selectively and without context doesn't help any cause, it just helps fit your narrative.

That would be because Gaza is apartheid (no Jews allowed) and is also trying to commit a genocide by killing all Jews (this is not a secret). Israel is 20% Arab with equal freedoms as Israeli Jews and Christians and all groups live peacefully there. She mentions how Hamas, an actual terror organization has broken ceasefires, but does not mention how Israel has itself also broken ceasefires over the years. She talks about the hostages being held by Hamas, but doesn't mention how Israel has been holding 5,000 Palestinian hostages (160 of them being children) since long before October 7th. Israel has an obligation to rescue its hostages, yet the families of those hostages are themselves speaking out about how the IDF is more focused on leveling Gaza than it is with saving their loved ones. The IDF's own hostage negotiator was on interviews saying that he's worried there won't be any hostages left to negotiate for after the military is done with Gaza. Israel has an obligation to protect its citizens, but how is reducing the deaths of 12,000 people to mere "human shields" justifiable as "self defense"? Most of the time I love me some Hillary but I wish she wouldn't tell just one side of the story.

No details as to why Arafat may or may not have rejected the deal, no mention of the billions in military aid the US gives Israel that it's been using this entire time to oppress Palestinians.
Why would Arafat turn down a two-state solution that he wanted? He wanted the ability for Palestinian refugees (including those from the original Nakba) to be able to return to Israel/Palestine. Israel wouldn't accept this as it would damage the Jewish identity of Israel. That was the impasse.
Do I agree with Arafat? No - it was too optimistic. But Hillary's explanation makes it sound like he didn't care. He cared a lot - about righting the original wrong of displaced people from what is now modern-day Israel. So, was he the best negotiator - probably not but that doesn't mean he didn't want a future - he just had a redline about 1st generation Palestinian refugees.
