***** Sup year old comment. I think this version is interesting just to hear what the track sounds like in a more refined and kinda more musical state, but I agree the midi version is better.
Bandit Keith There is no "MIDI version", this IS the MIDI version, just rendered with a very specific set of samples/synths. The MIDI file specifies some very general things about how the music should sound, it can sound wholly different depending what device it's being played on.
+Jamie Williamson I uploaded the video 7 years ago. I have no idea where I have the tracks now. But you can find it if you dig your nose deep into google search. Or rip the videos.
Been searching for ages never came across the mac soundtrack, only came across the Window Midi files, the fan remix and the midi's in .MP3 form, Guess I keep lurking around the net.
@medigilclafouti It's all in the video title. This is the MAC version of the song. Unless I'm missing something and you're already playing the MAC version.
fr33kSh0w2012 No, if it's rendered on any one MIDI module it's probably a far more advanced one, possibly some Sound Canvas or something. My bet is some non GM-compatible device, probably one of E-mu or Akai's later hardware samplers (they were still quite in heavy use well into the 90s as new models were still being released. former LucasArts in-house composer Peter McConnell told me that he was using an Emulator IV for Grim Fandango, and Michael Land was also using it for The Curse of Monkey Island).
Wow, it's really amazing how much better this version sounds than the DOS version.
@Big Boss Eats Nope, you are wrong
Mac OS remove bass reverb and replace it with another SoundFont, not Roland sf2
Absolutely no. The original version on Soundblaster 16 is the best. I didn't hear better.
this is my childhood
It's missing the sounds that the androids make, it's like an instrument is missing
+andree1991 NEW MEMO
andree1991 "You rebel do elder!"
"HE'S WALKING OVER"

Your mealtime is over!
anyone notice the guy going "pchwoo" at 4:05?
Awesome!
Am I the only one who prefers DOS version of the music? :D
YES :D
I get the feeling that the tempo at the beginning is accelerating :)
Listen. I am watching this video with earplugs and device volume down
Me too
4:06 ???
hihi yeah, I wonder.. found that thing everywhere.. somehow an error in the composition?
Think it's the sound a mutant makes when it attacks you
@SVL0RM00N hey just look up how to downlaod audio from youtube videos.
1:57 holy shit
@medigilclafouti It's probably the sound driver you chose.
sorry the MIDI is way better just fits the whole cyberpunk theme a lot better this shit is way too clean.

This version isnt as bad as I once thought, DOS version is still much better

Fooking awesome music bros!
wow ok when I play SS1 the music is NO WHERE near this quality.
4:05 Sounds like somebody accidentally included a sound effect in this otherwise excellent rendition of the Medical theme. 😜
dam I got this on steam and gog but it never came with the mac soundtrack, any chance you could share?

The DOS version is definitely better for the game, and is the true iconic version…
But sone parts of this sound downright awesome.
I agree. This is a great alternate version, though.
can you post an mp3 of this?
Please upload the intro
Nope, DOS version sounds way more computery, if you know what I mean. It fits the game better.
Yup agree!
I got it... somewhere. Oh! make a google search for "chicajo" and "system shock" he has some of the game's soundtrack :3
who is the man in the image?
Cruzado Azul It's a Cyborg Elite. They're only found on Level 9.
I think that those "black dicks" is pipes

@Coolerdbz69 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3
the in game version of this is so fucking annoying
Some of the MacOS mixes sound better than the plain jane MIDIs but this is not one of them. Too sampled.
>midi
>too sampled
Bro
I wished LEGO Legends of Chima and System Shock had a crossover :(
that's the weirdest crossover I've heard until now. that said, a rock raiders/sys-shock crossover would be cool.
odin lindeberg Do you even know what Chima is?
Yeah, lego furries. With phlebotinium blue. Do you know what rock raiders is?
odin lindeberg All I know is it is a LEGO theme
If you don't know more than that, why do you wish for it to crossover with a horror gaming classic?
I hate that ":3" face
what ":3" ?
