Lyrics:
I guess I kind of sort of know
I ought to be thinking of you
But a friendship's built on trust
And that's something you never do
Well who knows - maybe tomorrow
We can share each other's sorrow
And compare our graveside manner
As we wave our lonely banners
If you ever think of me
I'll be thinking of you
If you decide to change your views
I'm thinking of you
You can walk away from loneliness
Anytime you choose
And you're the sort of person
That hasn't anything to lose
But who cares - maybe tomorrow
You can lead and I could follow
So walk where angels fear to tread
For everything you've ever wanted
And if you ever think of me
I'll be thinking of you
If you can spare an hour or two
You'll know what to do
I could be the one thing there
In your hour of need
So if you decide to change your views
I'm thinking of you
Let's roll the dice
In a fools paradise
Share moonlit nights
Breathing nothing but lies
Let's open our eyes...
We should take a bus
To somewhere else to something new
Thank God we're alive
And bite off more than we can chew
Do the things that just don't matter
Laugh while others look in anger
Stumble over four leaf clovers
And say goodbye to lonely banners
If you ever think of me
I'll be thinking of you
Through thick and thin
I bear it and grin and never give in
I could be the one thing left
In your hour of need
So if you decide to change your views
I'm thinking of you
Thinking of you
Thinking of you
Thinking of you

So sad to hear of the passing of Terry Hall. Such an immense part of my teenage years. What an incredible catalogue of songs he has left us 😢
Both Terry Hall and Kirsty Maccoll are very underrated! So much more to Terry than just the specials! This is a classic and always will be!!!!
Very sad too on hearing the news 10 minutes ago. Terry Hall was a very, very brave guy. By being open about his past, he must have helped thousands of adults deal with mental health problems stemming from childhood 'experiences'. I was slightly too young for the Specials but I bought everything by the Fun Boy 3 and I played the first Colourfield LP to death. I can't think of anyone else in music remotely like him. 63 is no age at all. Very sad.
RIP
So sad. 😔
so sad, huge part of my youth. the man had endless talent 💙
RIP Terry Hall. A good soul who made some great music and leaves a powerful legacy. Ghost Town will forever be remembered for its message alongside so much more music.
I can’t believe we have lost Terry Hall. An absolute genius. RIP
RIP Terry Hall. Such a brilliant songwriter, singer, and musician. You will be missed by many.
Love Love Love Terry miss you forever R.I.P.
You are missed Terry.
You left a great musical legacy, wide ranging and even wider reaching.
This is such a good song, which, when I first heard it on its release, struck me with its heartfelt lyrics and catchy tune.
It sure passed my whistle test 🎶
It's a punch in my stomach to learn of Terry's passing. I have no words other than to thank you with all of my heart for your music and for what it means to me💕🙏
Terry Hall is a genius.
I agree😃from japan
I concur
Can't argue with that 👏👏
He has just died.
Terry Hall...Has Just Passed Away :(
🥺 My sister bought this single on vinyl when it came out and I made her play it over and over again coz I was in love with the harmonies, the voices, the lyrics....the genius of Terry Hall 💔 Gutted you've left us too soon. Rest in Peaceful Melodies - you were what made British pop music great 😥
Same here, my eldest sister bought this glorious tune and we played it and played it. She died last year also and would’ve been so sad alongside me about Terry Hall. Much too young..
I'm so sorry for the loss of your sister 😢 This is such a beautiful song to have shared 💛 I like to think of treasured songs shared with those I've lost, like some sort of interdimensional bridge to them now 💫
@@isotopiarysorry for your loss mate
Okay now I'm crying.
@Andy Smith
That’s kind of you to say-thank you. 🙏
What a talent. RIP Terry
The singer in my old band met Terry once in a Coventry pub. They'd been talking for a few hours when he finally mentioned that he was a musician and had been in a few bands. My friend had no idea who Terry was until a mate of hers walked into the pub n said, fucking hell you're sat talking to Terry Hall. My friend knew a few Specials songs but didn't know them to look at. She said Terry was great company n he listened more than he talked. A very humble and sweet man. Missed greatly. Cov legend. x
RIP Terry Hall...thanks for the great tunes and memories...
RIP Terry Hall, you and the Two Tone movement were the soundtrack to my teen years.
Those rare Terry smiles, even if for purely acting purposes, are like sunshine when they are glimpsed.
RIP Terry, taken far too young. One of Britains greatest talents 💔
There will be plenty of fitting tribute left on Specials songs, but when I think of him, this is always the first song that pops in to my head.
Thinking of You Mr Hall.
Thanks and RIP.
His best for me. Nothing comes close. This is just sublime.
Same here
I cannot disagree with that. While Terry Hall wrote many great songs, this one has to be up there with the best of them.
As soon as I heard the sad news I came to listen to this song. I LOVE this song and have done all these years....I listen to it often, whether I'm feeling nostalgic, just want a singalong or just want to hear some great music from my younger years. RIP Terry. Great voice. Great music 💖💔
Me to didn't realise this genius was the man from the specials I was 16 in 1985 so much of my youth gone in another year
Rest In Peace Terry , we will miss you.♥️
I just discovered this song a few days ago after Terry's passing, Rude Boy at heart since late 80's, I love the Specials and never really searched Colourfield songs, now I cant stop playing this. Gorgeous song, This is the one that will mostly remind me of him...
I was 8 almost 9 in early 1985. I remember this song mesmerising me the first time I heard it on a grey day; I wasn't the target audience I suspect. However, like 'Ghost town' it transports me straight back to the Royal Wedding street party. Terry Hall had a unique talent. RIP.
I had forgotten about this gem of a song. So sad to hear of the passing of Terry Hall. Such a talented singwriter.
I'm 50 and still listening to this beautiful song
i was 16 when I had their vinyl
56 and still love it
67 and still loving this. :-)
J'en ai 55 et je fais comme vous.
Good on you what a good tune terry hall underrated till he dies then everyone will appreciate his music sad but that's the way of the world
I'm 50 too and after a very long time alone I've found a beautiful girlfriend and life is good again and I sent this song to her and she loves it so much that we've decided to call it"our tune" as it fits perfectly, thanks colourfield!💞🤗xx
I'm so glad you've found happiness. : )
Pass me a bucket
@@singing5675 it's ok I dumped her not long after leaving my original comment as I found that she was doing drugs and drinking shit loads of cider, it was all going so well in the first few months but I'm not putting up with crap like that so I left and never went back or spoke to her, I just want a quiet life and that's what I have now. I'm done with relationships.
@@adamweston4152 nonooo, find someone, make a relationship with a normal girl
@@itamarbushari88 no thanks, I'm not getting involved again, I'm 52 now and I'm really not interested in having baggage as most women of my age are divorced with kids so I'm going my own way and I'm happy with my decision.
RIP 🙏 Terry. God bless you and thanks for all the fantastic music 🎶
Rest in Peace, Terry. Legend forever.
Over the last half-a-dozen years or so, our generation - those of us born in the Sixties - has lost so much dearly-loved talent in the music industry.
The news of Terry's sudden passing has hit me surprisingly hard: I've actually been quite emotional and at first, I was at a loss for a reason for the unexpected flood of tears. Speaking to my peers I realised why: The Specials were there for me when I became more seriously interested in music as an eleven year-old and then as a teenager I loved Fun Boy Three and Colourfield. Am I also grieving for the loss of youth? For that fading world of forty years ago, seemingly simpler times - yet with as many hardships and injustices as the present?
Much empathy with all of you feeling as gutted as I do: keep singing along to this - I've not stopped singing all week ❤️
Timeless classic.
I'm younger than you, born in 1978 but I feel the same. I was surprised by how sad I've felt. I've sang along with his music in its various iterations for years, watched his interviews, have always felt quite drawn to him for reasons I only found out the answer to when he passed. Ghost Town is so atmospheric and immediately takes me back to growing up in the 1980's. He's always been there, somewhere all my life, and now he's not. Always came across as a lovely, honest, kind and gentle man. And yes, I would agree that there is something in the grief for our lost youth, and we can physically see that time is passing and the endlessness of all our childhood summers is not there anymore
Terry Hall lives on in the rich and eclectic musical legacy he created . I loved his collaborations with other artists of his generation as well as his chameleon like reincarnations in bands like fun boy three, the specials, colorfield, be it soul, ska, rock or reggae❤ .
RIP Terry Hall what a fantastic artist
The first track I searched for on RUclips to remember this great talent. RIP Terry.
RIP Terry Hall 😢
Thank you for the music 🎶
Miss the 80s so much..god i wish i could go back..still working on that time machine..when ready anyone want to join me? Songs like this these revoke so many memories of a great era.
I would happily join you Vez - great times.
If you guys have a DeLorean, I'll see what I can do about the Flux Capacitor. Gotta get back in time and out of 2020!
@@reuelhermoso3822 the delorean is at the lotus factory at Hethel. saw it there a few years back
1980s MUSIC, sure. Was a teenager at the time, and what I've learned about the 1980s is not actually that positive.
count me in, I'll get in the boot.
Here to appreciate Terry Hall's song writing talent, travel peacefully Mr Hall
It's just a lovely song. It's got everything...a great melody...a good beat...and great lyrics. I'm sure that it's *'our song'* for a lot of couples. *Up The Colourfield!* 20/12/2022: So, so sad to here of Terry's passing. He was a great talent and he will be sadly missed by all music lovers everywhere. *RIP Terry Hall.*
I just love Terry Halls voice
This whole album Virgin and Philistines is full of brilliant pop tunes. Terry Hall is one of the few musicians that can cross over genre's and still be relevant.
It’s an album that doesn’t have a bad song on it , utter classic
RIP Terry....Another gone way to soon...this record is a gem....
This is my favourite song of Terry's. I listened to him back in the 80's when I was a teenager. He seemed a lovely person. I feel quite sad. Thank you for this song in particular Terry.
Back in the days when people paid to place valentines messages in the local newspaper’s classifieds I quoted the words of this song for my then boyfriend, now husband of 32 years .
Thanks you Terry and goodnight 💔 Gone too soon xx
RIP Terry Hall 😢
Obviously the Specials were brillant but this song has such charm
RIP Terry Hall. Immense talent 🙏 thanks for the memories 🙏
Terry 🖤🙌🏻💔
Listening to obscure 80's new wave and in pops Colourfield! Wow! I love finding old gems like this and others.
🎼 R.I.P. *Terry Hall*. Growing up as a teenager in the 80s in Asia, I was blessed with having access to beautiful, colourful, melodic Britpop from the likes of The Colourfield ... thank you for the music. 🎵🎶
Specials, Funboy 3, The Colourfield... the man was a music genius...
RIP Terry. Thank you for the wonderful music. We will have that forever.
I'm 55 and still loving this fantastic song. I was 22 when it was released...
Think Ur maths isn't that good. Release 85, if Ur 55 in 2020 that would make you 20, have you ever heard of Terry hall?
We will all be thinking of Terry Hall. Big part of our youth. Rest in peace. Love to all his family and friends.
Terry Hall extolled all the virtues of being English. A lovely human.
When Terry Hall sings...nobody else sounds like him...God Bless
Rest easy Terry. Thank you for sharing your bright light and leaving us with so much. Gutted. 😔
This song is like one of my oldest pals, I’ve listened to it tons for almost 30 years. Great tune.
Ditto, come back to it every once in a while on here.
I’ve been in love with this song since 1985. I’m still loving it. Thanks Terry.
Me too❤
my favourite terry hall tune. great duet that breezes effortlessly along. real quality classic 3 minute pop track. thinking of you Tel
RIP Terry, you will be greatly missed
If Terry is involved I usually check it out and this is up to his gold standard.Superb!
The Colourfield were massively underrated. This is perfect
They were underrated by only the people who underrated them. People who liked them and appreciated them clearly did not underrate them. You for instance.
Terry had an amazing writing talent mostly if not all from life...depression...child abuse..bipolar etc..he's dead now and at peace....I met him once in 1983 filming the our lips are sealed video...very subdued character between long day takes...think we had 3 words together not making eye contact and strained...very shy
@@douglasfreeman3229your being very pedantic. underrated is underrated...
Rest In Peace dear Terry. 🙏 🥀🖤
When I was at school, the Ska revival was very much part of the music scene ... I loved bands like Madness, The Beat & Bad Manners ... but the Specials were the best and Terry Hall's voice the most iconic ... I had the privilege of seeing them live at the height of their fame ... he will never be forgotten, as his music is indelibly imprinted in my head and my heart in all its iterations and provides some of the soundtracks of my life ... until we meet again.
LEGEND !! He made me feel normal as a kid. So sad his passing ❤
RIP Terry ❤ amazing song
So gutted to hear of terrys passing R I P terry hall thank you for the beautiful music
RiP Terry. One of my favorite songs 🙏
RIP Terry Hall, Thank you for all the music.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Hall. We'll be thinking of you.
So sad to hear the news of Terry Halls passing. We are less than a month apart in age! The late 70's and 80's were happy times. When it came to music Terry had the Midas touch! Of course now I can't stop listening to his music. I absolutely love this. I'm playing this and Our Lips are Sealed over and over!
Simply........Thank-You Terry. RIP Sir.
I used to listen to this song when I didn't speak english yet, but I felt it was sweet and perfect in its simplicity. RIP Terry Hall
I met Terry Hall following a Specials gig around 11 years ago. He was an absolute darling and signed everything I put in front of him. I told him "Virgins and Philistines" is my favourite album of his and he said: "Thanks very much - it's my favourite too - I can't stand all this other shit!" I'll never know for sure if he was kidding (I suspect he might have been) but he left an incredible catalogue of fantastic music, and for that I will always be grateful. Another great gone too soon. R.I.P. 😢
Such a wonderful song. I was a huge fan of The Specials and when this came out I ran to the record store, got it home and listened to it, for the first time, while sitting on a roll of carpet. Terry RIP.
Katrina Phillips on vocals - ace tune.
'Thank God we're alive and bite off we can chew'. A musician's musician. A sad loss of a true artist. RIP.
What a lovely smile he has
What a talent you were. I hate talking about you in the past tense. Rest in Peace Terry...

Heard this as a 15- or 16-year old in the US, trying and sometimes succeeding in tuning into whatever station at the time covered Rock Over London. I remembered a few words of the song after decades, googled them, and found it again, to my joy.
Congratulations, check out Terry Halls- Our Lips Are Sealed featuring Jane Wiedlin from the Go-Go's, Terry & Jane had a secret relationship at the time & this song was about it🏴
