@@fark69 Yes, but Jody doesn't keep most of the watches he buys. He can always include his detestation for the brand name in his review. I just think it's a shame Phylida isn't given the full Jody treatment, for those who don't mind the logo or its sterile counterpart, and for the channel more broadly. Its absence from the channel is quite conspicuous, given the brand's prominence on AliExpress. For the record, "Phylida" is also a dealbreaker for me. I own several (of the same) Phylida Pilot watches, none of them with a logo. The 3 subdials and date-day window help fill the void quite nicely. Perhaps Jody will change his mind and do a "I bought a watch I said I would NEVER buy!"...kind of video.

Agree. I've a R3 Seahorse and it's a fantastic watch for the money. Real sapphire, impeccable finish of the case and great lume that lasts for long.
Rdunae is also very honest in advising that, if you choose the version with the orange lume ring on the dial (that I did, because that ring has only an aesthetic function) the brightness of the lume is going to last less than in the other versions, due to the composition of the material.

  • @TheBimmer74

Phylida makes a mechanical column wheel chronograph speedy homage that is way better than Pagani Design or any other Speedy homage for that matter. It is a fantastic value that you cannot get elsewhere in its price range. I have no problem pronouncing the brand. syll. (p)hy-li-da, ph-yl-ida ] The baby girl name Phylida is pronounced F-IHLIYDAH †. Phylida's language of origin is Old Greek and it is predominantly used in Greek. Hey, I'm with you on most of these, but I tell you that you're missing out on the Octopus Kraken watch. Sure, the name's a little weird, but not Mysterious Code or Tactical Frog levels of weird. Some of them just say Octopus. Their branding is way better than most Chinese watches, with a modern fonts and logo. But best of all they have EXTREMELY well-finished watches, rivaling San Martin in my opinion. Their NTTD Seamaster homage and their Fifty Fathoms homage both have pride of place in my collection and are both easily in my top five. I'd highly recommend that you swallow your ill feelings and try one out. I think you'll be impressed with the fit and finish. I think you'd find the Fifty-Fathoms too big for your tastes, but once you see that fire-black face in person, and feel the extremely satisfying bevel action, I think your mind will be changed about them.

@@PyROelementz it's a good watch for the money just wish they could have made it a little thinner, is your lume also pretty bad? I am thinking of getting a custom Nh34 but in a watch like a rolex gmt homage.... Lume is important.
I'm waiting in a tan cali 38mm curved Sapphire, (intramatic style)
      A 39mm B style fliger..
      A gray dial 62mas 300m curved Sapphire.
Also ordered a cadisen ice blue day date president style that looks great, and a cadisen 37mm seamaster hommmage that's us really nice.
I was going to get a bronze pt5000 but with the lume it seems like a waste.
I kind of wish they gave you strap options as the 36 is pretty hard, I just wish it had better lume and a curved crystal.
I also bought like 8 1967 chronos 40mm and 38mm sapphire to resell.
I have alot of SD1970s to resell.
I also ordered 10 NH35 movements to resell.
Some people don't trust Ali and I don't blame them.
At least with any of these watches mostly you could at least get your money back on ebay.
I do wish they made a thinner 36mm with a subsections, seagull makes a good movement that has hacking, habdwinnding and subseconds
Or a miyota offset subseconds with the crown at 4 (so subseconds are at 6
Then it would be a very nice dirty dozen style with better lume and a curved w but even without its great for the money.
I'm just so sick of the NH35
I don't think most understand they have never seen Japan (made in Malaysia) and are now really cheap.

I bought one almost by accident as they had built a watch with the pink pig dial that my wife finds adorable. That could have been a one-time experience but their customer service after the sale has been exemplary. They helped me find the exact bezel insert for that watch when it needed to be replaced and went above and beyond helping me find other bezel inserts. I'll definitely keep shopping with them.

I'm not going to lie, when Jody came on the screen in drag I had a mouth full of coffee and nearly spat it all over the livingroom! I laughed so hard, mate massive respect for the joke it was spectacular. I bet your wife woundered what on Earth you were doing? Also I know what you mean, I looked on Ali and genuinely perplexed by the odd names of the watch brands... I have two Addiesdive watches, which is Steeldive, which is anything they want to call them? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a brand called 'Knight of Times Past'?

There was the Phylida i purchased, and priced a bit better than a pd, and similar brands. I selected a sterile dial,
not for any reaction to branding, rather by default settings on the page. There was 'kivo', amongst those listed
and not, and just too something for me. Agree, branding can make difference.

I’m also a knife collector. This is the same problem in that industry, except way more actual counterfeiting of big brands.
I’m all for the China industries that actually make unique and quality products. WE, Civivi, Kizer, etc. all make actually good knives and they are original designs.
I’ll NEVER do business through Ali-E or DHgate because they insist on hawking counterfeit copies of Benchmades, Spydercos, and a myriad of other real brands. It’s bad business, and I can’t bring myself to fund them in any way even on unrelated purchases. Screw ‘em.

This is pretty much my position on Ali knives and watches. Something is wrong about them. Green Thorn knives are a prime example… they seem to make great knives for the money, but their XM-18 and Inkosi models have fake makers marks.
Maybe I’ll pickup a Slysz Rat clone from them one day. No makers marks, just a plain looking knife. But who knows

Better than all the competition with super high quality lume, finishing and build quality. I believe they are manufactured by the same factories as cronos, iron watch, steeldive, Tactical Frog, Heimdallr & Baltany.

I love your videos. Your review of the Pagani PD-1662 GMT Master II homage convinced me to buy my now favorite watch.
I have to disagree with you about Phylida. I recently purchased the Speedmaster Moon Watch homage by Phylida, the one with the ST19 mechanical movement. They are one of only two companies I have found making an homage of this watch with a mechanical movement. I love the watch!
Phylida and Pagani seem to be on the same level, but while Pagani focuses on Rolex homages Phylida focuses on Omega homages. There is definitely cross over, but from reviews and personal experience they each seem to have their wheel house in homages of the other brand.
